1 Corinthians 121 Corinthians12

Berean Standard BibleKing James Version

1. Spiritual Gifts

2. 1BSBNow about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.KJVKJV: Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
3. 2BSBYou know that when you were pagans, you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.KJVKJV: Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
4. 3BSBTherefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.KJVKJV: Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
5. 4BSBThere are different gifts, but the same Spirit.KJVKJV: Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
6. 5BSBThere are different ministries, but the same Lord.KJVKJV: And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
7. 6BSBThere are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people.KJVKJV: And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
8. 7BSBNow to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.KJVKJV: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
9. 8BSBTo one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit,KJVKJV: For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
10. 9BSBto another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,KJVKJV: To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
11. 10BSBto another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.KJVKJV: To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
12. 11BSBAll these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.KJVKJV: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

13. The Body of Christ

14. 12BSBThe body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ.KJVKJV: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
15. 13BSBFor in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink.KJVKJV: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
16. 14BSBFor the body does not consist of one part, but of many.KJVKJV: For the body is not one member, but many.
17. 15BSBIf the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.KJVKJV: If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
18. 16BSBAnd if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.KJVKJV: And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
19. 17BSBIf the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?KJVKJV: If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
20. 18BSBBut in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design.KJVKJV: But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
21. 19BSBIf they were all one part, where would the body be?KJVKJV: And if they were all one member, where were the body?
22. 20BSBAs it is, there are many parts, but one body.KJVKJV: But now are they many members, yet but one body.
23. 21BSBThe eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”KJVKJV: And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
24. 22BSBOn the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,KJVKJV: Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
25. 23BSBand the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty,KJVKJV: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
26. 24BSBwhereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,KJVKJV: For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
27. 25BSBso that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another.KJVKJV: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
28. 26BSBIf one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.KJVKJV: And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

29. The Greater Gifts

30. 27BSBNow you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it.KJVKJV: Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
31. 28BSBAnd in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.KJVKJV: And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
32. 29BSBAre all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?KJVKJV: Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
33. 30BSBDo all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?KJVKJV: Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
34. 31BSBBut eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.KJVKJV: But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
