Matthew 14 (BSWE)

1ኡሱ ጎራታ ካጋሊላ ኡል ቃላዳኬሳ ካባሪሳረ ሞት ሄሮዶሳ፥ አታን ካየሱሳኮክ ጋራ ማለ፥At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus

2ኡሱን ኦሀንዳሬነ፤ “ሂክ ሃ ጎሌ ካጣማቃራ ያንሳ ጎይኮ ኬጉረ ኤመተራ አማኖያ፥ ሂክ ካሳዳማራ ባሳ ዱባ ካኮፈላመራ ኡሱያ” አመ።and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

3ጣየ ሄሮዶሳ አቢኬሳ ፍልጶሳኮት ኦር ሄሮድያዳኮት ኣላንቲ ያንሳ አብስሰጉረ ምን ካሻኖ ታብሰረ።Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

4ኣላንቲና ያንሳ ሄሮዶሳነ፤ “አቢካት ኦር ጎጎአታቶ ሴራ ፈኢ ላኮስሳሮ አማ ግረ።”because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

5ሃንሱን ሄሮዶሳ ያንሳ ላጋዲን ዶተጉረ ጎሳና ኡሱ ካሄገሮ አን ማንኮድያሮ ማራንትኑ አብሳተ።Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.

6ሄሮዶሳ ኡሱ ታኮአላተሮ አሪ ካባጃታ ግራን ታሄሮድያዳ ኤረ ኤመተዴ ማርት ሆረ ማዳር ካዱዱሮይ ማንኮገጌላይሰ ማራን፥On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod

7ኤሰ ካሆሳተ ዱባ ኤሰን ስስን አማቶ ታበ።so much that he promised with an oath to give to her whatever she asked.

8ኡኑትና ኣየትሴት ማርካ አታተደ፥ “ካጣማቃሮ ያንሳኮክ መተ ታላኣይ ጉት ካይጉደ ኢን ስስ” አንተ።Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”

9ሀሱ ጎራታ ዎኖና ጋዴ፥ ሀሌዎ ኳሬ አማቶኦቴሳ ማራና ኡሱነ ዎታ ታግቴ ማርት ማራን ሆስንትሴ ጎጎአባባቶ አጃጄ።The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted

10ምን ካሻኖ ቶስ እባዶ ፋረጉረ ካያንሳ መተ ማርግኮ ጎስሰ።and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.

11ካጎሳመሮ መተና ታላኣይ ካየጉረ ኡኑቲን ስሰ፥ ኡኑትና ኣተጉዴ ኣየትሴዉን ስሰ።John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

12ያንሳኮ ኦአጋልሳታረና ሬስ አታቴንጉሬን ቃማሌን፤ ኤሰኮና ሰተንጉረን ካሌሮና የሱሳን ሰገን።Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.

13የሱሳና ካሌሮ አየስ ካኮማላረ ጎራታ ታኮግረኮ ኬጉረ ካለት ባንኤ ቶ ቶስ ዎላቦይ ታበ ሴተ። ጎሳና ሂካ ማለጉረ ካታማልኮ ሉኪ ኡሱ ዴበ ሰሴተን።When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.

14የሱሳና ዎላቦኮ ዳጋግራን ካሞጋን ጎሳ ዴጉረ ነኔኤይሳተ፤ ꬉኩባልክሶኮና ፋይሰ።When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15ኡል ሄመን ላ ካኮሴታረ ጎራታ የሱሳኮ ኦአጋልሳታረና ኡሱ ቶስ ጋባላመንጉረን “ህት ባንኤ ኮና ታኮግኖን ቃሉላቶክ ኡልያ፤ ጎራታና ሄመን ማንኮላሮ ማራን፤ ማማንጆልኮ ሴይጉሬን ካአምራን ባቦ ጎጎኢምናራዉን ጎሳ ጋፋርና” አመን።When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16የሱሳ ጎአመን “እሶ ሴይን ላኮዶትሳሮ፥ እሶ ካአምራን እስንዋ ስሳ” አመ።“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”

17እሶና፥ “ኖ ህታኒ ካአብና ባቦ ብጠ ከና ኩኑኡብ ላማ ካላል አብና” አመን።“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

18የሱሳና፥ “አላ ካአብታን እን ቶስ ኬና” አመ።“Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.

19ኤሰኮና ጎሳ ኤስ ጉት ጎጎሀማጽሮን አጃጃ ስሰ፤ ባቦ ብጠ ከና ኩኑኡብ ላማና ኣተጉረ ኤልዴ ዳሩሪ ቶስ ዲያ ጋላቴረ ባቦኮ ኢብሰ ኣተጉረ ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታሬኑን ስሰ፥ እሶና ጎሳን ስሰን።And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20ዱባና አመን ባራረን፥ ኤሰኮና ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታረና ታሄሰቶ ሀንባ ዱጉድ ቶሞንኮ ላማ ምግ ኬሴን።They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21ካኣመረ እባዶ ሄለልና ይስ ካላይ ኩማ ከን ካሌሮ ባባርየ።About five thousand men were fed, besides women and children.

22ጎርሰዋ ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታረን ዎላቦይ ኮራይጉሬን ኡሱኮ ጣይ በከኮ ጋማ ጎጎናቅናዉን አጃጄጉረ፥ ኡሱን አደ ጎሳ ጋልስን ሃር ሄሰ።Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.

23የሱሳ ጎሳ ጋልሰ አባባተረ ኤባይን ኬ ዎዳም ቶስ ቤ። ኡል ታሙጉድ ሌሮን ካለካለ ኤሰ ግረ።After He had dismissed them, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,

24ሀሱ ጎራታ ዎላቦና ባጋኮ ፋክ አንተ ጎሰ ሴታ ግራን አምባል ኬተጉደ ጋሽማሎና ሆረ ሃር ሻፋኖ ሀጋአበ።but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25ሄመንኮ ሳቲ ሳጋልኮ አባባተረ የሱሳ በከ ጉት ሰሴታ ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታረን ቶስ ኤመተ።During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.

26ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታረና ኡሱ በከ ጉት ሰሴታ ካኤሜታሮ ካኮድያረን ጎራታ አብሳተንጉረን፥ “ህት ጋርታ” አማ ኦኬን።When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.

27ጎርሰዋ የሱሳ እሶነ፥ “አላማንደ! አንያ። አሮአብሳቴን” አመ።But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

28ጴጢሮሳና፥ “ጎታ! ጎአትቶ አን በከ ጉት ሰሴታ ኩ ቶስ ጎጎኤሜሮን እን አጃጂ” አመ።“Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”

29ኡሱና፥ “ኮያ” አመ። ጴጢሮሳና ዎላቦኮ ዳገጉረ በከ ጉት ሰሴታ የሱሳ ቶስ ኤመታኖ ሀጋአበ።“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

30አየሱን ጎአመን አምባልኮክ ሁና ካኮድያረ ጎራታ አብሳተ፤ በከይ ኤነጋማኖ ካኮሀጋአባረ ጎራታ “ጎታ! እን ሃስ” አመ ኦኬ።But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31የሱሳ ሳመ ገነቴሳ ድሪርሳተ ኡሱ አበጉረ፥ “አት አማኖ ካኮንሀንቃተራ! ሙን ሄዳተ?” አመ።Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

32የሱሳና ጴጢሮሳ ዎላቦ ጉት ኮራታዋ አምባል ጫልኢ አንተ።And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.

33ዎላቦይ ኦሮ ኦግረን፥ “ሩምና አት ኤረ ካዋታ” አመንጉረን ግልቢሴን ኡሱን ሳጋደን።Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

34የሱሳና ኡሱኮ ኦአጋልሳታረን በከኮ ጋማ ናቄንጉሬን ገንሳረጢ ታአማማቶ ባንኤ ቶስ ጌን።When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.

35ኡሱ ኡልክ እባዶ የሱሳ ላኖ ካኮአዴሳረ ጎራታ ጎቦቢ ካግሮ ማማንጆል ዱባን ሀንዳ ፋረን፤ ካሀዉአማሮ እባዶ ዱባ ኡሱ ቶስ ኬንስሴን።And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him

36ኦሀዉአማሬና ሳርስኬሳኮት ሻርፍ ታላል ድንኒን ፈኢ ጎጎስስሮን ኤባተን። ኡሱ ኦድኔን ዱባ ዱዶ ፋዬን።and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
