Imitators of God 1 CPDV Therefore, as most beloved sons, be imitators of God. BSB BSB: Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children,
CPDV And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness. BSB BSB: and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.
CPDV But let not any kind of fornication, or impurity, or rapacity so much as be named among you, just as is worthy of the saints, BSB BSB: But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed.
CPDV nor any indecent, or foolish, or abusive talk, for this is without purpose; but instead, give thanks. BSB BSB: Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving.
CPDV For know and understand this: no one who is a fornicator, or lustful, or rapacious (for these are a kind of service to idols) holds an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. BSB BSB: For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
CPDV Let no one seduce you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God was sent upon the sons of unbelief. BSB BSB: Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
CPDV Therefore, do not choose to become participants with them. BSB BSB: Therefore do not be partakers with them.
Children of Light 8 CPDV For you were darkness, in times past, but now you are light, in the Lord. So then, walk as sons of the light. BSB BSB: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
CPDV For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and justice and truth, BSB BSB: for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
CPDV affirming what is well-pleasing to God. BSB BSB: Test and prove what pleases the Lord.
CPDV And so, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead, refute them. BSB BSB: Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
CPDV For the things that are done by them in secret are shameful, even to mention. BSB BSB: For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
CPDV But all things that are disputed are made manifest by the light. For all that is made manifest is light. BSB BSB: But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
CPDV Because of this, it is said: “You who are sleeping: awaken, and rise up from the dead, and so shall the Christ enlighten you.” BSB BSB: So it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
CPDV And so, brothers, see to it that you walk cautiously, not like the foolish, BSB BSB: Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
CPDV but like the wise: atoning for this age, because this is an evil time. BSB BSB: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
CPDV For this reason, do not choose to be imprudent. Instead, understand what is the will of God. BSB BSB: Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
CPDV And do not choose to be inebriated by wine, for this is self-indulgence. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, BSB BSB: Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

CPDV Wives should be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord. BSB BSB: Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
CPDV For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the Savior of his body. BSB BSB: For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior.
CPDV Therefore, just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also should wives be subject to their husbands in all things. BSB BSB: Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

CPDV so that he might offer her to himself as a glorious Church, not having any spot or wrinkle or any such thing, so that she would be holy and immaculate. BSB BSB: and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.
CPDV So, too, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. BSB BSB: In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
CPDV For no man has ever hated his own flesh, but instead he nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ also does to the Church. BSB BSB: Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.
CPDV For we are a part of his body, of his flesh and of his bones. BSB BSB: For we are members of His body.
CPDV “For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.” BSB BSB: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
CPDV This is a great Sacrament. And I am speaking in Christ and in the Church. BSB BSB: This mystery is profound, but I am speaking about Christ and the church.
CPDV Yet truly, each and every one of you should love his wife as himself. And a wife should fear her husband. BSB BSB: Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
