Introduction to PsalmsBOOK I The Two Paths (Matthew 5:3–12; Luke 6:20–23)
CPDV Blessed is the man who has not followed the counsel of the impious, and has not remained in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the chair of pestilence. BSB BSB: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
CPDV But his will is with the law of the Lord, and he will meditate on his law, day and night. BSB BSB: But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.
CPDV And he will be like a tree that has been planted beside running waters, which will provide its fruit in its time, and its leaf will not fall away, and all things whatsoever that he does will prosper. BSB BSB: He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
CPDV Not so the impious, not so. For they are like the dust that the wind casts along the face of the earth. BSB BSB: Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.
CPDV Therefore, the impious will not prevail again in judgment, nor sinners in the council of the just. BSB BSB: Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
CPDV For the Lord knows the way of the just. And the path of the impious will pass away. BSB BSB: For the LORD guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
