The Vision of the Flying Scroll 1 CPDV And I turned and lifted up my eyes. And I saw, and behold, a book flying. BSB BSB: Again I lifted up my eyes and saw before me a flying scroll.
2 CPDV And he said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a book flying. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width is ten cubits.” BSB BSB: “What do you see?” asked the angel. “I see a flying scroll,” I replied, “twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.”
3 CPDV And he said to me, “This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth. For every thief will be judged, just as it has been written there, and everyone who swears by this, will be judged in like manner.” BSB BSB: Then he told me, “This is the curse that is going out over the face of all the land, for according to one side of the scroll, every thief will be removed; and according to the other side, every perjurer will be removed.
4 CPDV I will bring it forth, says the Lord of hosts, and it will approach to the house of the thief, and to the house of him who swears falsely by my name, and it will remain in the midst of his house and will consume it, with its wood and its stones. BSB BSB: I will send it out, declares the LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and stones.”
The Vision of the Woman in a Basket 5 CPDV And the angel had departed, who was speaking with me. And he said to me, “Lift up your eyes, and see what this is, that goes forth.” BSB BSB: Then the angel who was speaking with me came forward and told me, “Now lift up your eyes and see what is approaching.”
6 CPDV And I said, “What, then, is it?” And he said, “This is a container going forth.” And he said, “This is their eye in all the earth.” BSB BSB: “What is it?” I asked. And he replied, “A measuring basket is going forth.” Then he continued, “This is their iniquity in all the land.”
7 CPDV And behold, a talent of lead was being carried; and behold, one woman sitting in the middle of the container. BSB BSB: And behold, the cover of lead was raised, and there was a woman sitting inside the basket.
8 CPDV And he said, “This is impiety.” And he cast her into the middle of the container, and he sent the weight of lead into its mouth. BSB BSB: “This is Wickedness,” he said. And he shoved her down into the basket, pushing down the lead cover over its opening.
9 CPDV And I lifted up my eyes and I saw. And behold, two women were departing, and a spirit was in their wings, and they had wings like the wings of a kite, and they lifted up the container between earth and heaven. BSB BSB: Then I lifted up my eyes and saw two women approaching, with the wind in their wings. Their wings were like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.
10 CPDV And I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “Where are they taking the container?” BSB BSB: “Where are they taking the basket?” I asked the angel who was speaking with me.
11 CPDV And he said to me, “To a house that may be built for it in the land of Shinar, and so that it may be established and set there upon its own base.” BSB BSB: “To build a house for it in the land of Shinar,” he told me. “And when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its pedestal.”
