Prayer for the Son 2 DBY as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that as to all that thou hast given to him, he should give them life eternal. BSB BSB: For You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him.
4 DBY I have glorified thee on the earth, I have completed the work which thou gavest me that I should do it; BSB BSB: I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do.
Prayer for the Disciples 6 DBY I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them me, and they have kept thy word. BSB BSB: I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
7 DBY Now they have known that all things that thou hast given me are of thee; BSB BSB: Now they know that everything You have given Me comes from You.
8 DBY for the words which thou hast given me I have given them, and they have received them , and have known truly that I came out from thee, and have believed that thou sentest me. BSB BSB: For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
9 DBY I demand concerning them; I do not demand concerning the world, but concerning those whom thou hast given me, for they are thine, BSB BSB: I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours.
10 DBY (and all that is mine is thine, and all that is thine mine,) and I am glorified in them. BSB BSB: All I have is Yours, and all You have is Mine; and in them I have been glorified.
11 DBY And I am no longer in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one as we. BSB BSB: I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one.
12 DBY When I was with them I kept them in thy name; those thou hast given me I have guarded, and not one of them has perished, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled. BSB BSB: While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 DBY And now I come to thee. And these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in them. BSB BSB: But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so that they may have My joy fulfilled within them.
14 DBY I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world. BSB BSB: I have given them Your word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15 DBY I do not demand that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them out of evil. BSB BSB: I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.
16 DBY They are not of the world, as I am not of the world. BSB BSB: They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17 DBY Sanctify them by the truth: thy word is truth. BSB BSB: Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
18 DBY As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world; BSB BSB: As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.
19 DBY and I sanctify myself for them, that they also may be sanctified by truth. BSB BSB: For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.
Prayer for All Believers 21 DBY that they may be all one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. BSB BSB: that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 DBY And the glory which thou hast given me I have given them, that they may be one, as we are one; BSB BSB: I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one—
23 DBY I in them and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and that thou hast loved them as thou hast loved me. BSB BSB: I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.
24 DBY Father, as to those whom thou hast given me, I desire that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me, for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. BSB BSB: Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25 DBY Righteous Father, — and the world has not known thee, but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. BSB BSB: Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me.
26 DBY And I have made known to them thy name, and will make it known; that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them and I in them. BSB BSB: And I have made Your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them.”
