Psalm 142 142 Psalms Book 5 Darby Translation I Lift My Voice to the LORD (1 Samuel 22:1–5; Psalm 57:1–11)
DBY An instruction of David; when he was in the cave: a prayer. I cry unto Jehovah with my voice: with my voice unto Jehovah do I make supplication. BSB BSB: A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer. I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift my voice to the LORD for mercy.
DBY I pour out my plaint before him; I shew before him my trouble. BSB BSB: I pour out my complaint before Him; I reveal my trouble to Him.
DBY When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they hidden a snare for me. BSB BSB: Although my spirit grows faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a snare for me.
DBY Look on the right hand and see; there is no man that knoweth me: refuge hath failed me; no man careth for my soul. BSB BSB: Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul.
DBY I cried unto thee, Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. BSB BSB: I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”
DBY Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. BSB BSB: Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.
DBY Bring my soul out of prison, that I may celebrate thy name. The righteous shall surround me, because thou dealest bountifully with me. BSB BSB: Free my soul from prison, that I may praise Your name. The righteous will gather around me because of Your goodness to me.
