The Resurrection of Christ 2 DRA By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. BSB BSB: By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
DRA And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures: BSB BSB: that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
DRA And that he was seen by Cephas; and after that by the eleven. BSB BSB: and that He appeared to Cephas and then to the Twelve.
DRA After that, he was seen by James, then by all the apostles. BSB BSB: Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
DRA And last of all, he was seen also by me, as by one born out of due time. BSB BSB: And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
DRA For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. BSB BSB: For I am the least of the apostles and am unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
DRA But by the grace of God, I am what I am; and his grace in me hath not been void, but I have laboured more abundantly than all they: yet not I, but the grace of God with me. BSB BSB: But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
The Resurrection of the Dead 13 DRA But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen again. BSB BSB: If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
DRA Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God: because we have given testimony against God, that he hath raised up Christ; whom he hath not raised up, if the dead rise not again. BSB BSB: In that case, we are also exposed as false witnesses about God. For we have testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead, but He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised.
DRA For if the dead rise not again, neither is Christ risen again. BSB BSB: For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised.
DRA And if Christ be not risen again, your faith is vain, for you are yet in your sins. BSB BSB: And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
DRA Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ, are perished. BSB BSB: Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
DRA If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. BSB BSB: If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied more than all men.
The Order of Resurrection 22 DRA And as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive. BSB BSB: For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
DRA But every one in his own order: the firstfruits Christ, then they that are of Christ, who have believed in his coming. BSB BSB: But each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him.
DRA Afterwards the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God and the Father, when he shall have brought to nought all principality, and power, and virtue. BSB BSB: Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
DRA For he must reign, until he hath put all his enemies under his feet. BSB BSB: For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
DRA And the enemy death shall be destroyed last: For he hath put all things under his feet. And whereas he saith, BSB BSB: The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
DRA All things are put under him; undoubtedly, he is excepted, who put all things under him. BSB BSB: For “God has put everything under His feet.” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him.
DRA And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then the Son also himself shall be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. BSB BSB: And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.
DRA Otherwise what shall they do that are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not again at all? why are they then baptized for them? BSB BSB: If these things are not so, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
DRA Why also are we in danger every hour? BSB BSB: And why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
DRA I die daily, I protest by your glory, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord. BSB BSB: I face death every day, brothers, as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
DRA If (according to man) I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me, if the dead rise not again? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die. BSB BSB: If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for human motives, what did I gain? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
DRA Be not seduced: Evil communications corrupt good manners. BSB BSB: Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
DRA Awake, ye just, and sin not. For some have not the knowledge of God, I speak it to your shame. BSB BSB: Sober up as you ought, and stop sinning; for some of you are ignorant of God. I say this to your shame.
The Resurrection Body 36 DRA Senseless man, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die first. BSB BSB: You fool! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
DRA And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be; but bare grain, as of wheat, or of some of the rest. BSB BSB: And what you sow is not the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or something else.
DRA But God giveth it a body as he will: and to every seed its proper body. BSB BSB: But God gives it a body as He has designed, and to each kind of seed He gives its own body.
DRA All flesh is not the same flesh: but one is the flesh of men, another of beasts, another of birds, another of fishes. BSB BSB: Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.
DRA And there are bodies celestial, and bodies terrestrial: but, one is the glory of the celestial, and another of the terrestrial. BSB BSB: There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the splendor of the heavenly bodies is of one degree, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is of another.
DRA One is the glory of the sun, another the glory of the moon, and another the glory of the stars. For star differeth from star in glory. BSB BSB: The sun has one degree of splendor, the moon another, and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
DRA It is sown in dishonour, it shall rise in glory. It is sown in weakness, it shall rise in power. BSB BSB: It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
DRA It is sown a natural body, it shall rise a spiritual body. If there be a natural body, there is also a spiritual body, as it is written: BSB BSB: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
DRA The first man Adam was made into a living soul; the last Adam into a quickening spirit. BSB BSB: So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam a life-giving spirit.
DRA Yet that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; afterwards that which is spiritual. BSB BSB: The spiritual, however, was not first, but the natural, and then the spiritual.
DRA The first man was of the earth, earthly: the second man, from heaven, heavenly. BSB BSB: The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.
DRA Such as is the earthly, such also are the earthly: and such as is the heavenly, such also are they that are heavenly. BSB BSB: As was the earthly man, so also are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.
DRA Therefore as we have borne the image of the earthly, let us bear also the image of the heavenly. BSB BSB: And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so also shall we bear the likeness of the heavenly man.
Where, O Death, Is Your Victory? (Hosea 13:9–14)
DRA Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot possess the kingdom of God: neither shall corruption possess incorruption. BSB BSB: Now I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
DRA Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall all indeed rise again: but we shall not all be changed. BSB BSB: Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—
DRA In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall rise again incorruptible: and we shall be changed. BSB BSB: in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
DRA For this corruptible must put on incorruption; and this mortal must put on immortality. BSB BSB: For the perishable must be clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
DRA And when this mortal hath put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. BSB BSB: When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
DRA O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? BSB BSB: “Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?”
DRA Now the sting of death is sin: and the power of sin is the law. BSB BSB: The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
DRA But thanks be to God, who hath given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. BSB BSB: But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
DRA Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast and unmoveable; always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. BSB BSB: Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
