The Collection for the Saints (2 Corinthians 9:1–15)
DRA Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also. BSB BSB: Now about the collection for the saints, you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia:
DRA On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him; that when I come, the collections be not then to be made. BSB BSB: On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
DRA And when I shall be with you, whomsoever you shall approve by letters, them will I send to carry your grace to Jerusalem. BSB BSB: Then, on my arrival, I will send letters with those you recommend to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
DRA And if it be meet that I also go, they shall go with me. BSB BSB: And if it is advisable for me to go also, they can travel with me.
Paul’s Travel Plans (Romans 15:23–33)
DRA Now I will come to you, when I shall have passed through Macedonia. For I shall pass through Macedonia. BSB BSB: After I go through Macedonia, however, I will come to you; for I will be going through Macedonia.
DRA And with you perhaps I shall abide, or even spend the winter: that you may bring me on my way whithersoever I shall go. BSB BSB: Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
DRA For I will not see you now by the way, for I trust that I shall abide with you some time, if the Lord permit. BSB BSB: For I do not want to see you now only in passing; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
DRA But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. BSB BSB: But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
DRA For a great door and evident is opened unto me: and many adversaries. BSB BSB: because a great door for effective work has opened to me, even though many oppose me.
Timothy and Apollos (Philippians 2:19–30)
DRA Now if Timothy come, see that he be with you without fear, for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do. BSB BSB: If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.
DRA Let no man therefore despise him, but conduct ye him on his way in peace: that he may come to me. For I look for him with the brethren. BSB BSB: No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
DRA And touching our brother Apollo, I give you to understand, that I much entreated him to come unto you with the brethren: and indeed it was not his will at all to come at this time. But he will come when he shall have leisure. BSB BSB: Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was not at all inclined to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Concluding Exhortations 13 DRA Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, do manfully, and be strengthened. BSB BSB: Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
DRA Let all your things be done in charity. BSB BSB: Do everything in love.
DRA And I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanas, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints: BSB BSB: You know that Stephanas and his household were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brothers,
DRA That you also be subject to such, and to every one that worketh with us, and laboureth. BSB BSB: to submit to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
DRA And I rejoice in the presence of Stephanas, and Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because that which was wanting on your part, they have supplied. BSB BSB: I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
DRA For they have refreshed both my spirit and yours. Know them, therefore, that are such. BSB BSB: For they refreshed my spirit and yours as well. Show your appreciation, therefore, to such men.
Signature and Final Greetings (Colossians 4:15–18; 2 Thessalonians 3:16–18)
DRA All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss. BSB BSB: All the brothers here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
DRA The salutation of me Paul, with my own hand. BSB BSB: This greeting is in my own hand—Paul.
DRA If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha. BSB BSB: If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a curse. Come, O Lord!
DRA The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. BSB BSB: The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
DRA My charity be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. BSB BSB: My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
