Corruption on the Earth (Matthew 24:36–51)
DRA And after that men began to be multiplied upon the earth, and daughters were born to them, BSB BSB: Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them,
DRA The sons of God seeing the daughters of men, that they were fair, took to themselves wives of all which they chose. BSB BSB: the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.
DRA And God said: My spirit shall not remain in man for ever, because he is flesh, and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. BSB BSB: So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”
DRA Now giants were upon the earth in those days. For after the sons of God went in to the daughters of men, and they brought forth children, these are the mighty men of old, men of renown. BSB BSB: The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward as well—when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.
DRA It repented him that he had made man on the earth. And being touched inwardly with sorrow of heart, BSB BSB: And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
DRA He said: I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, from man even to beasts, from the creeping thing even to the fowls of the air, for it repenteth me that I have made them. BSB BSB: So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.”
Noah’s Favor with God 8 DRA But Noe found grace before the Lord. BSB BSB: Noah, however, found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
DRA These are the generations of Noe: Noe was a just and perfect man in his generations, he walked with God. BSB BSB: This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.
DRA And he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth. BSB BSB: And Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
DRA And the earth was corrupted before God, and was filled with iniquity. BSB BSB: Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and full of violence.
DRA And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,) BSB BSB: And God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures on the earth had corrupted their ways.
Preparing the Ark (Hebrews 11:7)
DRA He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me, the earth is filled with iniquity through them, and I will destroy them with the earth. BSB BSB: Then God said to Noah, “The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth.
DRA Make thee an ark of timber planks: thou shalt make little rooms in the ark, and thou shalt pitch it within and without. BSB BSB: Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and out.
DRA And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits: the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. BSB BSB: And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
DRA Thou shalt make a window in the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish the top of it: and the door of the ark thou shalt set in the side: with lower, middle chambers, and third stories shalt thou make it. BSB BSB: You are to make a roof for the ark, finish its walls a cubit from the top, place a door in the side of the ark, and build lower, middle, and upper decks.
DRA Behold I will bring the waters of a great flood upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, under heaven. All things that are in the earth shall be consumed. BSB BSB: And behold, I will bring floodwaters upon the earth to destroy every creature under the heavens that has the breath of life. Everything on the earth will perish.
DRA And I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt enter into the ark, thou and thy sons, and thy wife, and the wives of thy sons with thee. BSB BSB: But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
DRA And of every living creature of all flesh, thou shalt bring two of a sort into the ark, that they may live with thee: of the male sex, and the female. BSB BSB: And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark—male and female—to keep them alive with you.
DRA Of fowls according to their kind, and of beasts in their kind, and of every thing that creepeth on the earth according to its kind; two of every sort shall go in with thee, that they may live. BSB BSB: Two of every kind of bird and animal and crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.
DRA Thou shalt take unto thee of all food that may be eaten, and thou shalt lay it up with thee: and it shall be food for thee and them. BSB BSB: You are also to take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten and gather it as food for yourselves and for the animals.”
DRA And Noe did all things which God commanded him. BSB BSB: So Noah did everything precisely as God had commanded him.
