Forty-Two Journeys of the Israelites 1 DRA These are the mansions of the children of Israel, who went out of Egypt by their troops under the conduct of Moses and Aaron, BSB BSB: These are the journeys of the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt by their divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
3 DRA Now the children of Israel departed from Ramesses the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the phase, with a mighty hand, in the eight of all the Egyptians, BSB BSB: On the fifteenth day of the first month, on the day after the Passover, the Israelites set out from Rameses. They marched out defiantly in full view of all the Egyptians,
4 DRA Who were burying their firstborn, whom the Lord had slain (upon their gods also he had executed vengeance,) BSB BSB: who were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them; for the LORD had executed judgment against their gods.
5 DRA And they camped in Soccoth. BSB BSB: The Israelites set out from Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 DRA And from Soccoth they came into Etham, which is in the uttermost borders of the wilderness. BSB BSB: They set out from Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness.
7 DRA Departing from thence they came over against Phihahiroth, which looketh towards Beelsephon, and they camped before Magdalum. BSB BSB: They set out from Etham and turned back to Pi-hahiroth, opposite Baal-zephon, and they camped near Migdol.
8 DRA And departing from Phihahiroth, they passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness: and having marched three days through the desert of Etham, they camped in Mara. BSB BSB: They set out from Pi-hahiroth and crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah.
9 DRA And departing from Mara, they came into Elim, where there were twelve fountains of waters, and seventy palm trees: and there they camped. BSB BSB: They set out from Marah and came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.
10 DRA But departing from thence also, they pitched their tents by the Red Sea. And departing from the Red Sea, BSB BSB: They set out from Elim and camped by the Red Sea.
11 DRA They camped in the desert of Sin. BSB BSB: They set out from the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.
12 DRA And they removed from thence, and came to Daphca. BSB BSB: They set out from the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.
13 DRA And departing from Daphca, they camped in Alus. BSB BSB: They set out from Dophkah and camped at Alush.
14 DRA And departing from Alus, they pitched their tents in Raphidim, where the people wanted water to drink. BSB BSB: They set out from Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.
15 DRA And departing from Raphidim, they camped in the desert of Sinai. BSB BSB: They set out from Rephidim and camped in the Wilderness of Sinai.
16 DRA But departing also from the desert of Sinai, they came to the graves of lust. BSB BSB: They set out from the Wilderness of Sinai and camped at Kibroth-hattaavah.
17 DRA And departing from the graves of lust, they camped in Haseroth. BSB BSB: They set out from Kibroth-hattaavah and camped at Hazeroth.
18 DRA And from Haseroth they came to Rethma. BSB BSB: They set out from Hazeroth and camped at Rithmah.
19 DRA And departing from Rethma, they camped in Remmomphares. BSB BSB: They set out from Rithmah and camped at Rimmon-perez.
20 DRA And they departed from thence and came to Lebna. BSB BSB: They set out from Rimmon-perez and camped at Libnah.
21 DRA Removing from Lebna they camped in Ressa. BSB BSB: They set out from Libnah and camped at Rissah.
22 DRA And departing from Ressa, they came to Ceelatha. BSB BSB: They set out from Rissah and camped at Kehelathah.
23 DRA And they removed from thence and camped in the mountain Sepher. BSB BSB: They set out from Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher.
24 DRA Departing from the mountain Sepher, they came to Arada. BSB BSB: They set out from Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah.
25 DRA From thence they went and camped in Maceloth. BSB BSB: They set out from Haradah and camped at Makheloth.
26 DRA And departing from Maceloth, they came to Thahath. BSB BSB: They set out from Makheloth and camped at Tahath.
27 DRA Removing from Thahath they camped in Thare. BSB BSB: They set out from Tahath and camped at Terah.
28 DRA And they departed from thence, and pitched their tents in Methca. BSB BSB: They set out from Terah and camped at Mithkah.
29 DRA And removing from Methca, they camped in Hesmona. BSB BSB: They set out from Mithkah and camped at Hashmonah.
30 DRA And departing from Hesmona, they came to Moseroth. BSB BSB: They set out from Hashmonah and camped at Moseroth.
31 DRA And removing from Moseroth, they camped in Benejaacan. BSB BSB: They set out from Moseroth and camped at Bene-jaakan.
32 DRA And departing from Benejaacan, they came to mount Gadgad. BSB BSB: They set out from Bene-jaakan and camped at Hor-haggidgad.
33 DRA From thence they went and camped in Jetebatha. BSB BSB: They set out from Hor-haggidgad and camped at Jotbathah.
34 DRA And from Jetebatha they came to Hebrona. BSB BSB: They set out from Jotbathah and camped at Abronah.
35 DRA And departing from Hebrona, they camped in Asiongaber. BSB BSB: They set out from Abronah and camped at Ezion-geber.
36 DRA They removed from thence and came into the desert of Sin, which is Cades. BSB BSB: They set out from Ezion-geber and camped at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.
37 DRA And departing from Cades, they camped in mount Her, in the uttermost borders of the land of Edom. BSB BSB: They set out from Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, on the outskirts of the land of Edom.
38 DRA And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord: and there he died in the fortieth year of the coming forth of the children of Israel out of Egypt, the fifth month, the first day of the month, BSB BSB: At the LORD’s command, Aaron the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.
39 DRA When he was a hundred and twenty-three years old. BSB BSB: Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 DRA And king Arad the Chanaanite, who dwelt towards the south, heard that the children of Israel were come to the land of Chanaan. BSB BSB: Now the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.
41 DRA And they departed from mount Her, and camped in Salmona. BSB BSB: And the Israelites set out from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.
42 DRA From whence they removed and came to Phunon. BSB BSB: They set out from Zalmonah and camped at Punon.
43 DRA And departing from Phunon, they camped in Oboth. BSB BSB: They set out from Punon and camped at Oboth.
44 DRA And from Oboth they came to Ijeabarim, which is in the borders of the Moabites. BSB BSB: They set out from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.
45 DRA And departing from Ijeabarim they pitched their tents in Dibongab. BSB BSB: They set out from Iyim and camped at Dibon-gad.
46 DRA From thence they went and camped in Helmondeblathaim. BSB BSB: They set out from Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim.
47 DRA And departing from Helmondeblathaim, they came to the mountains of Abarim over against Nabo. BSB BSB: They set out from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim facing Nebo.
48 DRA And departing from the mountains of Abarim, they passed to the plains of Moab, by the Jordan, over against Jericho. BSB BSB: They set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.
49 DRA And there they camped from Bethsi moth even to Ablesatim in the plains of the Moabites, BSB BSB: And there on the plains of Moab they camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth to Abel-shittim.
Instructions for Occupying Canaan 50 DRA Where the Lord said to Moses: BSB BSB: On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,
51 DRA Command the children of Israel, and say to them: When you shall have passed over the Jordan, entering into the land of Chanaan, BSB BSB: “Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,
52 DRA Destroy all the inhabitants of that land: beat down their pillars, and break in pieces their statues, and waste all their high places, BSB BSB: you must drive out before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and demolish all their high places.
53 DRA Cleansing the land, and dwelling in it. For I have given it you for a possession. BSB BSB: You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.
54 DRA And you shall divide it among you by lot. To the more you shall give a larger part, and to the fewer a lesser. To every one as the lot shall fall, so shall the inheritance be given. The possession shall be divided by the tribes and the families. BSB BSB: And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.
55 DRA But if you will not kill the inhabitants of the land: they that remain, shall be unto you as nails in your eyes, and spears in your sides, and they shall be your adversaries in the land of your habitation. BSB BSB: But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle.
56 DRA And whatsoever I had thought to do to them, I will do to you. BSB BSB: And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”
