I Will Sing of His Love Forever 1 DRA Of understanding, for Ethan the Ezrahite. The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation. BSB BSB: A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the loving devotion of the LORD forever; with my mouth I will proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations.
2 DRA For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them. BSB BSB: For I have said, “Loving devotion is built up forever; in the heavens You establish Your faithfulness.”
3 DRA I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant: BSB BSB: You said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant:
4 DRA Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation. BSB BSB: ‘I will establish your offspring forever and build up your throne for all generations.’” Selah
5 DRA The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints. BSB BSB: The heavens praise Your wonders, O LORD—Your faithfulness as well—in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 DRA For who in the clouds can be compared to the Lord: or who among the sons of God shall be like to God? BSB BSB: For who in the skies can compare with the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD?
7 DRA God, who is glorified in the assembly of the saints: great and terrible above all them that are about him. BSB BSB: In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him.
8 DRA O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee. BSB BSB: O LORD God of Hosts, who is like You? O mighty LORD, Your faithfulness surrounds You.
9 DRA Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof. BSB BSB: You rule the raging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them.
10 DRA Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies. BSB BSB: You crushed Rahab like a carcass; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
11 DRA Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded: BSB BSB: The heavens are Yours, and also the earth. The earth and its fullness You founded.
12 DRA The north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name: BSB BSB: North and south You created; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.
13 DRA Thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted: BSB BSB: Mighty is Your arm; strong is Your hand. Your right hand is exalted.
14 DRA Justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face: BSB BSB: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and faithfulness go before You.
15 DRA Blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance: BSB BSB: Blessed are those who know the joyful sound, who walk, O LORD, in the light of Your presence.
16 DRA And in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted. BSB BSB: They rejoice in Your name all day long, and in Your righteousness they exult.
17 DRA For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted. BSB BSB: For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted.
18 DRA For our protection is of the Lord, and of our king the holy one of Israel. BSB BSB: Surely our shield belongs to the LORD, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 DRA Then thou spokest in a vision to thy saints, and saidst: I have laid help upon one that is mighty, and have exalted one chosen out of my people. BSB BSB: You once spoke in a vision; to Your godly ones You said, “I have bestowed help on a warrior; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 DRA I have found David my servant: with my holy oil I have anointed him. BSB BSB: I have found My servant David; with My sacred oil I have anointed him.
21 DRA For my hand shall help him: and my arm shall strengthen him. BSB BSB: My hand will sustain him; surely My arm will strengthen him.
22 DRA The enemy shall have no advantage over him: nor the son of iniquity have power to hurt him. BSB BSB: No enemy will exact tribute; no wicked man will oppress him.
23 DRA And I will cut down his enemies before his face; and them that hate him I will put to flight. BSB BSB: I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.
24 DRA And my truth and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. BSB BSB: My faithfulness and loving devotion will be with him, and through My name his horn will be exalted.
25 DRA And I will set his hand in the sea; and his right hand in the rivers. BSB BSB: I will set his hand over the sea, and his right hand upon the rivers.
26 DRA He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation. BSB BSB: He will call to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock of my salvation.’
27 DRA And I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth. BSB BSB: I will indeed appoint him as My firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 DRA I will keep my mercy for him for ever: and my covenant faithful to him. BSB BSB: I will forever preserve My loving devotion for him, and My covenant with him will stand fast.
29 DRA And I will make his seed to endure for evermore: and his throne as the days of heaven. BSB BSB: I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
30 DRA And if his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments: BSB BSB: If his sons forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments,
31 DRA If they profane my justices: and keep not my commandments: BSB BSB: if they violate My statutes and fail to keep My commandments,
32 DRA I will visit their iniquities with a rod: and their sins with stripes. BSB BSB: I will attend to their transgression with the rod, and to their iniquity with stripes.
33 DRA But my mercy I will not take away from him: nor will I suffer my truth to fail. BSB BSB: But I will not withdraw My loving devotion from him, nor ever betray My faithfulness.
34 DRA Neither will I profane my covenant: and the words that proceed from my mouth I will not make void. BSB BSB: I will not violate My covenant or alter the utterance of My lips.
35 DRA Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David: BSB BSB: Once and for all I have sworn by My holiness—I will not lie to David—
36 DRA His seed shall endure for ever. BSB BSB: his offspring shall endure forever, and his throne before Me like the sun,
37 DRA And his throne as the sun before me: and as the moon perfect for ever, and a faithful witness in heaven. BSB BSB: like the moon, established forever, a faithful witness in the sky.” Selah
38 DRA But thou hast rejected and despised: thou hast been angry with thy anointed. BSB BSB: Now, however, You have spurned and rejected him; You are enraged by Your anointed one.
39 DRA Thou hast overthrown the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his sanctuary on the earth. BSB BSB: You have renounced the covenant with Your servant and sullied his crown in the dust.
40 DRA Thou hast broken down all his hedges: thou hast made his strength fear. BSB BSB: You have broken down all his walls; You have reduced his strongholds to rubble.
41 DRA All that pass by the way have robbed him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours. BSB BSB: All who pass by plunder him; he has become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 DRA Thou hast set up the right hand of them that oppress him: thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice. BSB BSB: You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 DRA Thou hast turned away the help of his sword; and hast not assisted him in battle. BSB BSB: You have bent the edge of his sword and have not sustained him in battle.
44 DRA Thou hast made his purification to cease: and thou hast cast his throne down to the ground. BSB BSB: You have ended his splendor and cast his throne to the ground.
45 DRA Thou hast shortened the days of his time: thou hast covered him with confusion. BSB BSB: You have cut short the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah
46 DRA How long, O Lord, turnest thou away unto the end? shall thy anger burn like fire? BSB BSB: How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath keep burning like fire?
47 DRA Remember what my substance is for hast thou made all the children of men in vain? BSB BSB: Remember the briefness of my lifespan! For what futility You have created all men!
48 DRA Who is the man that shall live, and not see death: that shall deliver his soul from the hand of hell? BSB BSB: What man can live and never see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah
49 DRA Lord, where are thy ancient mercies, according to what thou didst swear to David in thy truth? BSB BSB: Where, O Lord, is Your loving devotion of old, which You faithfully swore to David?
50 DRA Be mindful, O Lord, of the reproach of thy servants (which I have held in my bosom) of many nations: BSB BSB: Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants, which I bear in my heart from so many people—
51 DRA Wherewith thy enemies have reproached, O Lord; wherewith they have reproached the change of thy anointed. BSB BSB: how Your enemies have taunted, O LORD, and have mocked every step of Your anointed one!
52 DRA Blessed be the Lord for evermore. So be it. So be it. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and amen.
