The River of Life 1 DRA And he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. BSB BSB: Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2 DRA In the midst of the street thereof, and on both sides of the river, was the tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruits every month, and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. BSB BSB: down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
3 DRA And there shall be no curse any more; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him. BSB BSB: No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will worship Him.
4 DRA And they shall see his face: and his name shall be on their foreheads. BSB BSB: They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
5 DRA And night shall be no more: and they shall not need the light of the lamp, nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall enlighten them, and they shall reign for ever and ever. BSB BSB: There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.
Jesus Is Coming 6 DRA And he said to me: These words are most faithful and true. And the Lord God of the spirits of the prophets sent his angel to shew his servants the things which must be done shortly. BSB BSB: Then the angel said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”
7 DRA And, Behold I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book. BSB BSB: “Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book.”
8 DRA And I, John, who have heard and seen these things. And after I had heard and seen, I fell down to adore before the feet of the angel, who shewed me these things. BSB BSB: And I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.
9 DRA And he said to me: See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them that keep the words of the prophecy of this book. Adore God. BSB BSB: But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
10 DRA And he saith to me: Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. BSB BSB: Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near.
11 DRA He that hurteth, let him hurt still: and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is just, let him be justified still: and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still. BSB BSB: Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy.”
12 DRA Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works. BSB BSB: “Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.
13 DRA I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. BSB BSB: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
14 DRA Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. BSB BSB: Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.
15 DRA Without are dogs, and sorcerers, and unchaste, and murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie. BSB BSB: But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 DRA I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star. BSB BSB: “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.”
17 DRA And the spirit and the bride say: Come. And he that heareth, let him say: Come. And he that thirsteth, let him come: and he that will, let him take the water of life, freely. BSB BSB: The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.
Nothing May Be Added or Removed 18 DRA For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book. BSB BSB: I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
19 DRA And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from these things that are written in this book. BSB BSB: And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 DRA He that giveth testimony of these things, saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. BSB BSB: He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 DRA The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. BSB BSB: The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.
