The Collection for the Saints (2 Corinthians 9:1–15)
UDB Now I wish to answer your questions about the money that we are collecting for the people in Jerusalem who belong to God. You should do exactly what I told the believers in the churches in Galatia to do. BSB BSB: Now about the collection for the saints, you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia:
UDB Every Sunday, each of you should put some money aside, as you are able, so you will not need to collect any more money when I come. BSB BSB: On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
UDB You must choose people, whomever you wish, to take your gifts to Jerusalem. And when I arrive, I will send letters with them about your gift. BSB BSB: Then, on my arrival, I will send letters with those you recommend to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
UDB If it is the right thing to do, they will travel together with me to Jerusalem. BSB BSB: And if it is advisable for me to go also, they can travel with me.
Paul’s Travel Plans (Romans 15:23–33)
UDB I am planning to come to you when I travel through the region of Macedonia. BSB BSB: After I go through Macedonia, however, I will come to you; for I will be going through Macedonia.
UDB Perhaps I will stay with you, and possibly all through the winter, so that you can help me along the way in my trip. BSB BSB: Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
UDB I do not want to see you for only a short time. I hope that the Lord will allow me to spend enough time together that we can help each other. BSB BSB: For I do not want to see you now only in passing; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
UDB I want to stay in Ephesus until the Festival of Pentecost BSB BSB: But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
UDB because the Lord has opened a door for me there although there are still many who oppose us. BSB BSB: because a great door for effective work has opened to me, even though many oppose me.
Timothy and Apollos (Philippians 2:19–30)
UDB Now when Timothy comes, treat him kindly and see to it that he has nothing to be afraid of, for he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am doing. BSB BSB: If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.
UDB Do not let anyone treat him as unimportant. Help him on his way as much as you can; send him away in peace so that he may join me. I am expecting him to travel with other brothers who are coming my way. BSB BSB: No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
UDB You asked about our brother Apollos. I strongly urged him to visit you when the other brothers came to you. He decided not to come now, but he will come to you later when he has opportunity. BSB BSB: Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was not at all inclined to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Concluding Exhortations 13 UDB Be on guard; do not wander from your faith. Work for the Lord like grown men, and be strong. BSB BSB: Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
UDB Do everything through the power of love. BSB BSB: Do everything in love.
UDB You know the people in the house of Stephanas. You know that they were the first ones in the province of Achaia to believe, and they are determined to help those who belong to the Lord. I urge you, brothers and sisters, BSB BSB: You know that Stephanas and his household were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brothers,
UDB obey people like them who help in the work and who work hard with us. BSB BSB: to submit to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
UDB I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus arrived here from Corinth because they made up for the fact that you were not here. BSB BSB: I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
UDB They encouraged and helped me in my spirit, and they helped you as well. Tell others about how much they helped you. BSB BSB: For they refreshed my spirit and yours as well. Show your appreciation, therefore, to such men.
Signature and Final Greetings (Colossians 4:15–18; 2 Thessalonians 3:16–18)
UDB The rest of the brothers and sisters also greet you. Greet one another with a kiss of affection. BSB BSB: All the brothers here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
UDB I, Paul, am writing this sentence with my own hand. BSB BSB: This greeting is in my own hand—Paul.
UDB If anyone does not love the Lord, let a curse be on him. O Lord, come! BSB BSB: If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a curse. Come, O Lord!
UDB I pray that our Lord Jesus will continue to act kindly toward you. BSB BSB: The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
UDB I send you this reminder that I love all of you, as you all are joined together in Christ Jesus. BSB BSB: My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
