Psalm 64 64 Psalms Book 2 Unlocked Dynamic Bible The Hurtful Tongue (James 3:1–12)
UDB God, listen to me as I tell you the things about which I am worried. I am afraid of my enemies; please save me from them. BSB BSB: For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Hear, O God, my voice of complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
UDB Protect me from what wicked men are planning to do to me; protect me from that group of men who do what is evil. BSB BSB: Hide me from the scheming of the wicked, from the mob of workers of iniquity,
UDB The hostile things they say are like sharp swords; their cruel words are like arrows. BSB BSB: who sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows,
UDB They are not afraid of anyone; they lie about people and slander those who have done no wrong. They are like someone who suddenly jumps up from where he is hiding and shoots arrows at his enemies. BSB BSB: ambushing the innocent in seclusion, shooting suddenly, without fear.
UDB They encourage each other about doing the evil things that they are planning to do; they talk with each other about where they can set traps to catch people. They say, "No one will see what we are doing BSB BSB: They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say.
UDB because we have planned very well the things that we are going to do." What people can think and plan in their inner beings is truly amazing! BSB BSB: They devise injustice and say, “We have perfected a secret plan.” For the inner man and the heart are mysterious.
UDB But it will be as though God will shoot his arrows at them, and suddenly they will be wounded. BSB BSB: But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be wounded.
UDB Because what they say proves they are guilty, God will get rid of them. Everyone who sees what has happened to them will shake their heads to mock them. BSB BSB: They will be made to stumble, their own tongues turned against them. All who see will shake their heads.
UDB Then everyone will be afraid to sin because of what might happen to them also; they will tell others what God has done, and they themselves will think much about it. BSB BSB: Then all mankind will fear and proclaim the work of God; so they will ponder what He has done.
UDB Righteous people should rejoice because of what Yahweh has done; they should go to him to find refuge, and all those who honor him will praise him. BSB BSB: Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in Him; let all the upright in heart exult.
