1. The Creation

   (John 1:1–5; Hebrews 11:1–3)

2. 1UEBIn the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.BSBBSB: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
3. 2UEBThe earth was without form and empty. Darkness was upon the surface of the deep. The Spirit of God was moving above the surface of the waters.BSBBSB: Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

4. The First Day

5. 3UEBGod said, "Let there be light," and there was light.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
6. 4UEBGod saw the light, that it was good. He divided the light from the darkness.BSBBSB: And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.
7. 5UEBGod called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." This was evening and morning, the first day.BSBBSB: God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

8. The Second Day

9. 6UEBGod said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.”
10. 7UEBGod made the expanse and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. It was so.BSBBSB: So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so.
11. 8UEBGod called the expanse "sky." This was evening and morning, the second day.BSBBSB: God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

12. The Third Day

13. 9UEBGod said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear." It was so.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place, so that the dry land may appear.” And it was so.
14. 10UEBGod called the dry land "earth," and the gathered waters he called "seas." He saw that it was good.BSBBSB: God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering of waters He called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
15. 11UEBGod said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees bearing fruit whose seed is in the fruit, each according to its own kind." It was so.BSBBSB: Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.
16. 12UEBThe earth produced vegetation, plants producing seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit whose seed was in it, after their kind. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
17. 13UEBThis was evening and morning, the third day.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

18. The Fourth Day

19. 14UEBGod said, "Let there be lights in the sky to divide the day from the night and let them be as signs, for seasons, for days and years.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years.
20. 15UEBLet them be lights in the sky to give light upon the earth." It was so.BSBBSB: And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.
21. 16UEBGod made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.BSBBSB: God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.
22. 17UEBGod set them in the sky to give light upon the earth,BSBBSB: God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth,
23. 18UEBto rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
24. 19UEBThis was evening and morning, the fourth day.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

25. The Fifth Day

26. 20UEBGod said, "Let the waters be filled with great numbers of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the expanse of the sky."BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”
27. 21UEBGod created the great sea creatures, as well as every living creature after its kind, creatures that move and which fill the waters everywhere, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.BSBBSB: So God created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters teemed according to their kinds, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
28. 22UEBGod blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas. Let birds multiply on the earth."BSBBSB: Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
29. 23UEBThis was evening and morning, the fifth day.BSBBSB: And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

30. The Sixth Day

31. 24UEBGod said, "Let the earth produce living creatures, each according to its own kind, livestock, creeping things, and beasts of the earth, each according to its own kind." It was so.BSBBSB: And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.
32. 25UEBGod made the beasts of the earth after their kind, the livestock after their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground after its kind. He saw that it was good.BSBBSB: God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
33. 26UEBGod said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."BSBBSB: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”
34. 27UEBGod created man in his own image. In his own image he created him. Male and female he created them.BSBBSB: So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
35. 28UEBGod blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply. Fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."BSBBSB: God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”
36. 29UEBGod said, "See, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the surface of all the earth, and every tree with fruit which has seed in it. They will be food to you.BSBBSB: Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
37. 30UEBTo every beast of the earth, to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, and to every creature that has the breath of life I have given every green plant for food." It was so.BSBBSB: And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
38. 31UEBGod saw everything that he had made. Behold, it was very good. This was evening and morning, the sixth day.BSBBSB: And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
