The Collection for the Saints (2 Corinthians 9:1–15)
ULT Now concerning the collection{ that is} for the saints, even as I directed the churches of Galatia, so also you must do. BSB BSB: Now about the collection for the saints, you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia:
ULT Every first of the week, let each of you put{ something} aside, storing up from whatever he might have prospered, so that when I come, there will not be collections then. BSB BSB: On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
ULT Now when I arrive, whomever you might approve, I will send them with letters to carry your gift to Jerusalem. BSB BSB: Then, on my arrival, I will send letters with those you recommend to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
ULT But if it is appropriate for me to go also, they will go with me. BSB BSB: And if it is advisable for me to go also, they can travel with me.
Paul’s Travel Plans (Romans 15:23–33)
ULT But I will come to you after I have passed through Macedonia, for I am going through Macedonia. BSB BSB: After I go through Macedonia, however, I will come to you; for I will be going through Macedonia.
ULT But perhaps I will stay with you, or even spend the winter, so that you may help me on my way wherever I might go. BSB BSB: Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
ULT For I do not desire to see you now only in passing; for I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord would permit. BSB BSB: For I do not want to see you now only in passing; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
ULT But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, BSB BSB: But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
ULT for a wide and effective door has opened for me, and many are opposing{ me}. BSB BSB: because a great door for effective work has opened to me, even though many oppose me.
Timothy and Apollos (Philippians 2:19–30)
ULT Now if Timothy comes, see that he would be unafraid with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I{ am.} BSB BSB: If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.
ULT Therefore, let no one despise him. But help him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers. BSB BSB: No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
ULT Now concerning the brother Apollos, I strongly encouraged him that he would come to you with the brothers, but it was not at all his will that he would come now. However, he will come when he might have the opportunity. BSB BSB: Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was not at all inclined to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Concluding Exhortations 13 ULT Stay alert; stand firm in the faith; act like men; be strong. BSB BSB: Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
ULT Let all your things happen in love. BSB BSB: Do everything in love.
ULT Now I urge you, brothers(you know the household of Stephanas, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to service of the saints), BSB BSB: You know that Stephanas and his household were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brothers,
ULT that you also would be subject to the ones such as these and to everyone who is joining together in the work and laboring. BSB BSB: to submit to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
ULT Now I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied{ what} was lacking from you; BSB BSB: I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
ULT for they refreshed my spirit and yours. So then, recognize the ones like these. BSB BSB: For they refreshed my spirit and yours as well. Show your appreciation, therefore, to such men.
