ULT In these were lying a crowd of the ones being sick, blind, lame,{ or} paralyzed. BSB BSB: On these walkways lay a great number of the sick, the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed.
ULT For an angel of the Lord went down into the pool and stirred up the water at certain times,{ and} then the one having first stepped in after the stirring of the water was healed from whatever disease he suffered from. BSB BSB: Not in the BSB

ULT Jesus, having seen this one lying there and having known that he already is there a long time, says to him,“Do you want to be healthy?” BSB BSB: When Jesus saw him lying there and realized that he had spent a long time in this condition, He asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
ULT The sick one replied to him,“Sir, I do not have a man so that, when the water is stirred up, he might put me into the pool. But as I am going into it, another goes down before me.” BSB BSB: “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am on my way, someone else goes in before me.”
ULT Jesus says to him,“Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” BSB BSB: Then Jesus told him, “Get up, pick up your mat, and walk.”
ULT And immediately the man became healthy, and he took up his bed and began to walk. Now that day was a Sabbath. BSB BSB: Immediately the man was made well, and he picked up his mat and began to walk. Now this happened on the Sabbath day,
ULT So the Jews said to the one healed,“It is the Sabbath and not permitted for you to carry your bed.” BSB BSB: so the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “This is the Sabbath! It is unlawful for you to carry your mat.”
ULT But he replied to them,“The one having made me healthy, that one said to me,‘Pick up your bed and walk.’” BSB BSB: But he answered, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’”
ULT They asked him,“Who is the man having said to you,‘Pick{ it} up and walk’?” BSB BSB: “Who is this man who told you to pick it up and walk?” they asked.
ULT But the one having been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had gone away secretly, a crowd being in the place. BSB BSB: But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while the crowd was there.
ULT After these things, Jesus finds him in the temple and said to him,“Behold, you have become healthy! No longer sin, so that something worse might not happen to you.” BSB BSB: Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”
ULT The man went away and announced to the Jews that Jesus is the one having made him healthy. BSB BSB: And the man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
The Father and the Son 16 ULT And because of this, the Jews began to persecute Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. BSB BSB: Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews began to persecute Him.
ULT But he replied to them,“My Father is working even now, and I am working.” BSB BSB: But Jesus answered them, “To this very day My Father is at His work, and I too am working.”
ULT Therefore, Jesus answered and said to them,“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son is able to do nothing from himself except only what he would see the Father doing, for whatever that one would do, these things also the Son does in the same way. BSB BSB: So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
ULT For the Father loves the Son and he shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these so that you might be amazed. BSB BSB: The Father loves the Son and shows Him all He does. And to your amazement, He will show Him even greater works than these.
ULT For just as the Father raises the dead and makes{ them} alive, so also the Son makes alive whom he desires. BSB BSB: For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom He wishes.
ULT For not even the Father judges anyone, but he has given all judgment to the Son BSB BSB: Furthermore, the Father judges no one, but has assigned all judgment to the Son,
ULT so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one not honoring the Son does not honor the Father having sent him. BSB BSB: so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
ULT Truly, truly, I say to you that the one hearing my word and believing the one having sent me has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but he has passed from death to life. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
ULT Truly, truly, I say to you that an hour is coming, and is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and the ones having heard will live. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
ULT For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he gave to the Son to have life in himself, BSB BSB: For as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.
ULT and he gave him authority to do judgment, because he is the Son of Man. BSB BSB: And He has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.
ULT and will come out— the ones having done good, to a resurrection of life, but the ones having practiced evil, to a resurrection of judgment. BSB BSB: and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
ULT I am able to do nothing from myself. Just as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one having sent me. BSB BSB: I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Testimonies about Jesus 31 ULT If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. BSB BSB: If I testify about Myself, My testimony is not valid.
ULT There is another one testifying about me, and I know that the testimony that he testifies about me is true. BSB BSB: There is another who testifies about Me, and I know that His testimony about Me is valid.
ULT You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. BSB BSB: You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
ULT But I do not receive the testimony from man, but I say these things so that you might be saved. BSB BSB: Even though I do not accept human testimony, I say these things so that you may be saved.
ULT That one was the lamp that was burning and shining, but you desired to exult in his light for an hour. BSB BSB: John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you were willing for a season to bask in his light.
ULT But I have the testimony that is greater than that of John: for the works that the Father has given me so that I would accomplish them— the very works that I do— testify about me that the Father has sent me. BSB BSB: But I have testimony more substantial than that of John. For the works that the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works I am doing—testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.
ULT And the Father having sent me has himself testified about me. You have neither heard his voice nor have seen his form at any time. BSB BSB: And the Father who sent Me has Himself testified about Me. You have never heard His voice nor seen His form,
ULT And you do not have his word remaining in you, for the one whom he has sent, this one you do not believe. BSB BSB: nor does His word abide in you, because you do not believe the One He sent.
The Witness of Scripture (Luke 16:19–31)
ULT You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and these are the ones testifying about me, BSB BSB: You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me,
ULT and you are not willing to come to me so that you might have life. BSB BSB: yet you refuse to come to Me to have life.
ULT I do not receive glory from men, BSB BSB: I do not accept glory from men,
ULT but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. BSB BSB: but I know you, that you do not have the love of God within you.
ULT I have come in the name of my Father, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you receive that one. BSB BSB: I have come in My Father’s name, and you have not received Me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will receive him.
ULT How are you able to believe, receiving glory from one another, and are not seeking the glory that is from the only God? BSB BSB: How can you believe if you accept glory from one another, yet do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
ULT Do not think that I myself will accuse you before the Father. The one accusing you is Moses, in whom you have hoped. BSB BSB: Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, in whom you have put your hope.
