ULT After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee(of Tiberias). BSB BSB: After this, Jesus crossed to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).
ULT Now a great crowd was following him because they were seeing the signs that he was doing on the ones being sick. BSB BSB: A large crowd followed Him because they saw the signs He was performing on the sick.

ULT (But he said this, testing him, for he himself knew what he was going to do.) BSB BSB: But He was asking this to test him, for He knew what He was about to do.
ULT Philip answered him,“200 denarii{ worth} of bread is not sufficient for them, so that each one might receive a little.” BSB BSB: Philip answered, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to have a small piece.”
ULT One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, says to him, BSB BSB: One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,
ULT “Here is a little boy who has five barley bread loaves and two small fish, but what are these to so many?” BSB BSB: “Here is a boy with five barley loaves and two small fish. But what difference will these make among so many?”
ULT Jesus said,“Make the men sit down.”(Now there was a lot of grass in the place.) So the men sat down, about 5, 000 in number. BSB BSB: “Have the people sit down,” Jesus said. Now there was plenty of grass in that place, so the men sat down, about five thousand of them.
ULT Then Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, he gave them to the ones reclining to eat; likewise also with the fish, as much as they wanted. BSB BSB: Then Jesus took the loaves and the fish, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted.
ULT But as they were filled, he says to his disciples,“Gather up the remaining broken pieces, so that nothing might be lost.” BSB BSB: And when everyone was full, He said to His disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over, so that nothing will be wasted.”
ULT So they gathered them up and filled 12 baskets of broken pieces from the five barley loaves which were left over by the ones having eaten. BSB BSB: So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
ULT Then Jesus, having realized that they were about to come and to seize him so that they might make{ him} king, withdrew again onto the mountain by himself alone. BSB BSB: Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.
Jesus Walks on Water (Matthew 14:22–33; Mark 6:45–52)
ULT Now as it became evening, his disciples went down to the sea, BSB BSB: When evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
ULT and having gotten into a boat, they were going over the sea to Capernaum, and darkness had already happened, but Jesus had not yet come to them. BSB BSB: got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was already dark, and Jesus had not yet gone out to them.
ULT A strong wind was blowing, and the sea was being aroused. BSB BSB: A strong wind was blowing, and the sea grew agitated.
ULT Then, having rowed about 25 or 30 stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. BSB BSB: When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea—and they were terrified.
ULT But he says to them,“It is I! Do not be afraid.” BSB BSB: But Jesus spoke up: “It is I; do not be afraid.”
ULT Then they were willing to receive him into the boat, and immediately the boat came to the land to which they were going. BSB BSB: Then they were willing to take Him into the boat, and at once the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
Jesus the Bread of Life 22 ULT The next day, the crowd that had been standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there except one and that Jesus had not entered into the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had departed alone. BSB BSB: The next day, the crowd that had remained on the other side of the sea realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not boarded it with His disciples, but they had gone away alone.
ULT Other boats came from Tiberias close to the place where they had eaten the bread loaves after the Lord had given thanks. BSB BSB: However, some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
ULT Therefore, when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples are there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum seeking Jesus. BSB BSB: So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum to look for Him.
ULT And having found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him,“Rabbi, when did you come here?” BSB BSB: When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they asked Him, “Rabbi, when did You get here?”
ULT Jesus replied to them and said,“Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me not because you saw signs, but because you ate from the bread loaves and were filled. BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it is not because you saw these signs that you are looking for Me, but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.
ULT Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life which the Son of Man will give you, for God the Father has set his seal on this one.” BSB BSB: Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”
ULT Then they said to him,“What should we do, so that we might work the works of God?” BSB BSB: Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God?”
ULT Jesus replied and said to them,“This is the work of God: that you would believe in the one whom that one has sent.” BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.”
ULT So they said to him,“What sign then do you do, so that we might see and might believe you? What will you work? BSB BSB: So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do?
ULT Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written,‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” BSB BSB: Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
ULT Then Jesus replied to them,“Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses has not given you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. BSB BSB: Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
ULT For the bread of God is the one coming down from heaven and giving life to the world.” BSB BSB: For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
ULT So they said to him,“Sir, give us this bread always.” BSB BSB: “Sir,” they said, “give us this bread at all times.”
ULT Jesus said to them,“I am the bread of life. The one coming to me will certainly not hunger, and the one believing in me will certainly not ever thirst. BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.
ULT But I told you that you have both seen me and do not believe. BSB BSB: But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.
ULT But this is the will of the one having sent me, that I would not lose from it anyone whom he has given me, but will raise it up on the last day. BSB BSB: And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.
ULT For this is the will of my Father, that everyone seeing the Son and believing in him would have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” BSB BSB: For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
ULT Then the Jews began to murmur about him because he said,“I am the bread having come down from heaven.” BSB BSB: At this, the Jews began to grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
ULT And they said,“Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he now say,‘I have come down from heaven’?” BSB BSB: They were asking, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”
ULT Jesus replied and said to them,“Do not murmur among yourselves. BSB BSB: “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus replied.
ULT No one is able to come to me unless the Father having sent me would draw him, and I will raise him up on the last day. BSB BSB: “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
ULT It is written in the prophets,‘And all will be taught by God.’ Everyone having heard and having learned from the Father comes to me. BSB BSB: It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—
ULT Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the one being from God— he has seen the Father. BSB BSB: not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father.
ULT Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing has eternal life. BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, he who believes has eternal life.
ULT I am the bread of life. BSB BSB: I am the bread of life.
ULT Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. BSB BSB: Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died.
ULT This is the bread which comes down from heaven, so that a{ person} might eat from it and might not die. BSB BSB: This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.
ULT I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread, he will live into eternity. Now my flesh is also the bread that I will give for the life of the world.” BSB BSB: I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.”
ULT Then the Jews began to argue among themselves, saying,“How is this one able to give us his flesh to eat?” BSB BSB: At this, the Jews began to argue among themselves, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”
ULT Therefore, Jesus said to them,“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you would eat the flesh of the Son of Man and would drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves. BSB BSB: So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you.
ULT The one eating my flesh and drinking my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day. BSB BSB: Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
ULT For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. BSB BSB: For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.
ULT The one eating my flesh and drinking my blood remains in me, and I in him. BSB BSB: Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him.
ULT Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one eating me, he will also live because of me. BSB BSB: Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.
ULT This is the bread that has come down from heaven, not just as the fathers ate and died. The one eating this bread will live into eternity.” BSB BSB: This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your fathers, who ate the manna and died, the one who eats this bread will live forever.”
