2 ULT who plot evil things in the heart; all the day they travel around{ to} battles. BSB BSB: who devise evil in their hearts and stir up war all day long.
3 ULT They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; venom of a viper{ is} under their lips. Selah BSB BSB: They sharpen their tongues like snakes; the venom of vipers is on their lips. Selah
4 ULT Guard me, Yahweh, from the hands of the wicked; from the man of violence preserve me, who have planned to push down my steps. BSB BSB: Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked. Keep me safe from men of violence who scheme to make me stumble.
5 ULT The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread out a net to the hand of the path; traps they have set for me. Selah BSB BSB: The proud hide a snare for me; the cords of their net are spread along the path, and lures are set out for me. Selah
6 ULT I have said to Yahweh,“You{ are} my God.” Give ear, Yahweh, to the voice of my supplications. BSB BSB: I say to the LORD, “You are my God.” Hear, O LORD, my cry for help.
7 ULT Yahweh, Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of weaponry. BSB BSB: O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You shield my head in the day of battle.
8 ULT Do not grant, Yahweh, the desires of the wicked; do not bring forth his plot,{ lest} they rise up. Selah BSB BSB: Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; do not promote their evil plans, lest they be exalted. Selah
9 ULT The head of the ones surrounding me— let the mischief of their lips cover them. BSB BSB: May the heads of those who surround me be covered in the trouble their lips have caused.
10 ULT Let burning coals fall on them; let him cast them into the fire, into pits, let them not rise up. BSB BSB: May burning coals fall on them; may they be thrown into the fire, into the miry pits, never to rise again.
11 ULT Let not a man of tongue be established in the land; a man of violence— let evil hunt him with blows. BSB BSB: May no slanderer be established in the land; may calamity hunt down the man of violence.
12 ULT I know that Yahweh will do the cause of the poor, the justice of the needy. BSB BSB: I know that the LORD upholds justice for the poor and defends the cause of the needy.
13 ULT Surely the righteous will praise your name; the upright will dwell before your face. BSB BSB: Surely the righteous will praise Your name; the upright will dwell in Your presence.
