Praise to the Creator (Psalm 148:1–14)
1 ULT Shout for joy in Yahweh, righteous{ ones}; praise{ is} fitting for the upright. BSB BSB: Rejoice in the LORD, O righteous ones; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him.
2 ULT Give thanks to Yahweh with the harp; with a lyre of ten{ strings,} make music to him. BSB BSB: Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to Him with ten strings.
3 ULT Sing to him a new song; be skillful to play with a shout! BSB BSB: Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.
4 ULT For the word of Yahweh{ is} upright, and all of his work{ is} in faithfulness. BSB BSB: For the word of the LORD is upright, and all His work is trustworthy.
5 ULT Loving righteousness and justice, the covenant faithfulness of Yahweh fills the earth. BSB BSB: The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His loving devotion.
6 ULT By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth, all of their host. BSB BSB: By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.
7 ULT Gathering the waters of the sea like a heap; putting the deeps into storehouses, BSB BSB: He piles up the waters of the sea; He puts the depths into storehouses.
8 ULT let all of the earth fear Yahweh; let all of the dwellers of the world be in dread of him. BSB BSB: Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere Him.
9 ULT For he, he spoke, and it came to be; he, he commanded, and it stood. BSB BSB: For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.
10 ULT Yahweh frustrates the counsel of nations; he thwarts the plans of peoples. BSB BSB: The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples.
11 ULT The counsel of Yahweh stands forever, the plans of his heart, to generation and generation. BSB BSB: The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations.
12 ULT The happiness of the nation which Yahweh{ is} its God, the people he chose for an inheritance for himself. BSB BSB: Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
13 ULT From the heavens, Yahweh looks down; he sees all of the sons of man. BSB BSB: The LORD looks down from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.
14 ULT From the place of his dwelling he gazes at all of the dwellers of the earth, BSB BSB: From His dwelling place He gazes on all who inhabit the earth.
15 ULT the one forming their hearts together, the one understanding all of their works. BSB BSB: He shapes the hearts of each; He considers all their works.
16 ULT The king is not saved by a great army; a warrior is not delivered by great strength. BSB BSB: No king is saved by his vast army; no warrior is delivered by his great strength.
17 ULT The horse{ is} a falsehood for salvation, and by its great strength, it does not deliver. BSB BSB: A horse is a vain hope for salvation; even its great strength cannot save.
18 ULT Behold, the eye of Yahweh{ is} toward the fearers of him, toward those hoping for his covenant faithfulness, BSB BSB: Surely the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His loving devotion
19 ULT to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in the famine. BSB BSB: to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20 ULT Our soul waits for Yahweh; he{ is} our help and our shield. BSB BSB: Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
21 ULT For in him our heart rejoices; for in the name of his holiness we trust. BSB BSB: For our hearts rejoice in Him, since we trust in His holy name.
22 ULT Let your covenant faithfulness, Yahweh, be upon us, just as we have hoped in you. BSB BSB: May Your loving devotion rest on us, O LORD, as we put our hope in You.
