An End to Idolatry 1 ULT On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the dwellers of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity. BSB BSB: “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the people of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.
ULT “And it will happen on that day”— the declaration of Yahweh of Armies—“I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will not be remembered again, and also I will cause the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness to pass from the land. BSB BSB: And on that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
ULT And it will happen, when a man prophesies again, then his father and his mother, the ones bearing him, will say to him,‘You will not live, for you have spoken falsehood in the name of Yahweh.’ And his father and his mother, the ones bearing him, will pierce him in his prophesying. BSB BSB: And if anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will pierce him through.
ULT And it will happen on that day, the prophets will have shame, each man from his vision, in his prophesying. And they will not wear a cloak of hair in order to deceive. BSB BSB: And on that day every prophet who prophesies will be ashamed of his vision, and he will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive.
ULT And he will say,‘I am not a prophet. I am a man working the ground, for a man has owned me from my youth.’ BSB BSB: He will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I work the land, for I was purchased as a servant in my youth.’
ULT And{ someone} will say to him,‘What are these wounds between your hands?’ And he will say,‘Those are the ones with which I was struck{ in} the house of my lovers.’ BSB BSB: If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your chest?’ he will answer, ‘These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
The Shepherd Struck, the Sheep Scattered (Matthew 26:31–35; Mark 14:27–31)
ULT Sword, awake against my shepherd, and against the man, my companion”— the declaration of Yahweh of Armies—“Strike the shepherd, and the flock will scatter, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. BSB BSB: Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the man who is My Companion, declares the LORD of Hosts. Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My hand against the little ones.
ULT And it will happen in all the land”— the declaration of Yahweh—“two portions in it will be cut off, they will expire, and the third will be left in it. BSB BSB: And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it.
ULT And I will bring the third into the fire, and I will refine them as{ one} refines the silver, and I will test them as{ one} tests the gold. He, he will call on my name, and I, I will answer him. I will say,‘He is my people,’ and he, he will say,‘Yahweh is my God.’” BSB BSB: This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”
