The Vision of the Four Chariots 1 ULT And I turned and I lifted my eyes and I saw, and behold, four chariots coming out from between two mountains. And the mountains{ were} mountains of bronze. BSB BSB: And again I lifted up my eyes and saw four chariots coming out from between two mountains—mountains of bronze.
2 ULT In the first chariot{ were} red horses, and in the second chariot{ were} black horses, BSB BSB: The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses,
3 ULT and in the third chariot{ were} white horses, and in the fourth chariot{ were} spotted, strong horses. BSB BSB: the third white horses, and the fourth dappled horses—all of them strong.
4 ULT And I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me,“What are these, my lord?” BSB BSB: So I inquired of the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”
5 ULT And the angel answered and said to me,“These are the four winds of the heavens going out from standing before the Lord of all the earth. BSB BSB: And the angel told me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth.
6 ULT The{ chariot} in which{ are} the black horses is going out to the land of the north, and the white ones went out after them, and the spotted ones went out to the land of the south.” BSB BSB: The one with the black horses is going toward the land of the north, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”
7 ULT And the strong ones went out and sought to go to walk about in the earth. And he said,“Go, walk about in the earth.” And they walked about in the earth. BSB BSB: As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and patrol the earth; and the LORD said, “Go and patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth.
8 ULT And he called out to me and spoke to me, saying,“See, the ones going out to the land of the north have caused my spirit to rest in the land of the north.” BSB BSB: Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north.”
The Crown and the Temple 9 ULT And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, BSB BSB: The word of the LORD also came to me, saying,
10 ULT “Take from the exiles— from Heldai, and from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah— and you, you shall come on that day, and you shall come to the house of Josiah, the son of Zephaniah, who have come from Babylon. BSB BSB: “Take an offering from the exiles—from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon—and go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
11 ULT And you shall take silver and gold, and you shall make crowns, and you shall set{ them} on the head of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. BSB BSB: Take silver and gold, make an ornate crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak.
12 ULT And you shall speak to him, saying,‘Thus says Yahweh of Armies, saying, Behold, a man— Branch is his name— and from his place he will sprout, and he will build the temple of Yahweh. BSB BSB: And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
13 ULT And he, he will build the temple of Yahweh, and he, he will bear glory, and he will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne, and a counsel of peace will be between the two of them.’ BSB BSB: Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
14 ULT And the crowns will be for Helem and for Tobijah and for Jedaiah and for Hen, the son of Zephaniah, as a memorial in the temple of Yahweh. BSB BSB: The crown will reside in the temple of the LORD as a memorial to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and the gracious son of Zephaniah.
15 ULT And those far off will come and build in the temple of Yahweh, and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you. And{ this} will happen if listening, you will listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.” BSB BSB: Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
