Psalm 130 130 Psalms Book 5 unfoldingWord® Simplified Text Out of the Depths 1 UST This is a psalm for people going up to the temple to worship. Yahweh, I am very distressed, so I call out to you. BSB BSB: A song of ascents. Out of the depths I cry to You, O LORD!
UST Lord, please listen to me; please listen attentively as I call out to you to have mercy on me! BSB BSB: O Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my plea for mercy.
UST Yahweh, if you kept a record of{ the} sins{ that we have committed}, Lord, you would have to condemn and punish every one of us! BSB BSB: If You, O LORD, kept track of iniquities, then who, O Lord, could stand?
UST But you forgive us, with the result that we deeply revere you. BSB BSB: But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be feared.
UST Yahweh has said{ that he would help me}; I trust what he said, and so I wait eagerly for him{ to do that}. BSB BSB: I wait for the LORD; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.
UST I wait for the Lord{ to help me} more{ eagerly} than watchmen wait for the morning{ to come}; yes, I wait more eagerly than watchmen wait for the morning! BSB BSB: My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning—more than watchmen wait for the morning.
UST { My fellow} Israelites, confidently expect that Yahweh will help us.{ He will help us} because he faithfully loves us, and he is very willing to save us. BSB BSB: O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is loving devotion, and with Him is redemption in abundance.
UST It is he who will make it so he will not need to punish{ us} Israelite people for all the sins that{ we} have committed. BSB BSB: And He will redeem Israel from all iniquity.
