You Have Searched Me and Known Me 2 UST You are the one who knows everything that I do, including when I sit and when I stand. Even from far away, you know what I am thinking. BSB BSB: You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar.
3 UST You have examined in detail all of my movements, from the time I go out until I lie down, and you know intimately all of my habits. BSB BSB: You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways.
4 UST Indeed, even before I say anything, Yahweh, you already know everything that I am going to say! BSB BSB: Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD.
5 UST You guard me on every side, and you put your hand on me{ to protect me}. BSB BSB: You hem me in behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.
6 UST I am in awe that you know everything about me. I am not able to comprehend that. BSB BSB: Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
8 UST If I went up to heaven, you would be there. Even if I lay down in the place where dead people go, you would be there! BSB BSB: If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there.
9 UST If I rose up and flew to where the sun rises in the east, or if I settled in the farthest place across the{ western} sea, BSB BSB: If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle by the farthest sea,
10 UST even there you would guide me and you would keep me secure. BSB BSB: even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.
11 UST Even if I said,“Let the darkness completely overwhelm me, and the light around me turn to night,” BSB BSB: If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me”—
12 UST even darkness is not dark to you, and the night shines as bright as the daytime. For you, darkness and light are the same. BSB BSB: even the darkness is not dark to You, but the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light to You.
14 UST I praise you because you made me in such an awesome and wonderful way. Everything that you do is wonderful! I know that very well. BSB BSB: I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.
15 UST You saw my bones when you made me in that hidden place. As you wove me together deep in the womb, BSB BSB: My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 UST you saw me before I had any form. You wrote in your book each day that you had planned for me to live, before any of those days had even started. BSB BSB: Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.
17 UST God, the things that you think are very valuable to me! There are so many of them! BSB BSB: How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum!
18 UST If I tried to count them,{ I would not be able to do that, because} they are more than the grains of sand{ on the earth}.{ Every morning} I wake up, I am still with you,{ and there are still more of them to count}. BSB BSB: If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You.
19 UST God, I wish that you would kill all wicked people! I wish that all violent men would go away from me! BSB BSB: O God, that You would slay the wicked—away from me, you bloodthirsty men—
20 UST They say wicked things about you and plan evil things; your enemies misuse your name. BSB BSB: who speak of You deceitfully; Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 UST Yahweh, I certainly hate those who hate you, and I am disgusted with those who rise up against you. BSB BSB: Do I not hate those who hate You, O LORD, and detest those who rise against You?
22 UST I hate them completely; I consider them to be my enemies. BSB BSB: I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them as my enemies.
23 UST God, I invite you to search me and to know what I am thinking; please examine me and know what I worry about. BSB BSB: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns.
24 UST See if there is any harmful way in me, and teach me to live in the way that lasts forever. BSB BSB: See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the way everlasting.
