It Is Good to Sing Praises 1 UST Praise Yahweh! Singing praises to our God is a good thing to do. He deserves it, and it makes us happy. BSB BSB: Hallelujah! How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and lovely to praise Him!
2 UST Yahweh is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing back the Israelites whom our enemies had scattered. BSB BSB: The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 UST He comforts people who are very sad and heals their pain. BSB BSB: He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4 UST He knows how many stars there are, and he has given each one its name. BSB BSB: He determines the number of the stars; He calls them each by name.
5 UST Our Lord is great and very powerful; no one can measure how much he understands. BSB BSB: Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
6 UST Yahweh helps humble people, but he makes wicked people fail in what they want to do. BSB BSB: The LORD sustains the humble, but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 UST Thank Yahweh, our God, for all he has done for us as you play the harp and sing to him. BSB BSB: Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music on the harp to our God,
8 UST He makes the sky form rain clouds so that they will rain on the earth and make grass grow on the mountains. BSB BSB: who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the hills.
9 UST He provides food for wild animals. He even feeds young ravens when they cry out for food. BSB BSB: He provides food for the animals, and for the young ravens when they call.
10 UST He does not value the strength of a horse or the speed of a human runner. BSB BSB: He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 UST Instead, Yahweh values people who deeply respect him. He values people who confidently expect him to be faithful to his covenant promises. BSB BSB: The LORD is pleased with those who fear Him, who hope in His loving devotion.
12 UST Praise Yahweh our God, you people of Jerusalem who live on Mount Zion! BSB BSB: Exalt the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion!
13 UST He has made the defenses of your city strong, and he has blessed the people who live among you. BSB BSB: For He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses the children within you.
14 UST He keeps your borders safe, and gives you plenty of wheat to eat. BSB BSB: He makes peace at your borders; He fills you with the finest wheat.
15 UST He gives commands about what will happen on the earth, and these things happen right away. BSB BSB: He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly.
16 UST He makes snow that covers the ground like a white wool blanket, and he scatters frost on the ground like ashes. BSB BSB: He spreads the snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes;
17 UST He hurls down hail like small stones. When he makes it cold, no one can stand outside. BSB BSB: He casts forth His hail like pebbles. Who can withstand His icy blast?
18 UST But then he gives a command, and the snow and ice melt. He sends a warm wind, and the water flows again. BSB BSB: He sends forth His word and melts them; He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.
19 UST He told the descendants of Jacob how he wanted them to live. Yes, he gave decrees and laws to the Israelites. BSB BSB: He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and judgments to Israel.
20 UST He has not done this for any other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise Yahweh! BSB BSB: He has done this for no other nation; they do not know His judgments. Hallelujah!
