Psalm 149 149 Psalms Book 5 unfoldingWord® Simplified Text Sing to the LORD a New Song (Psalm 98:1–9; Isaiah 42:10–17)
UST Praise Yahweh! Sing a new song to Yahweh! Let his faithful people praise him when they gather together. BSB BSB: Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise in the assembly of the godly.
UST You Israelite people, God made you. Be happy because of what he has done for you. You people of Jerusalem, rejoice because God is your king. BSB BSB: Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
UST Praise Yahweh by dancing. Play tambourines and harps to honor him. BSB BSB: Let them praise His name with dancing, and make music to Him with tambourine and harp.
UST Do that because Yahweh loves his people; he honors poor people by rescuing them. BSB BSB: For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation.
UST God’ s faithful people should celebrate because he has honored them. Even on their beds at night, they should praise him with joyful songs. BSB BSB: Let the saints exult in glory; let them shout for joy upon their beds.
UST They should also shout loudly to praise God when they go into battle holding swords that have two sharp edges. BSB BSB: May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a double-edged sword in their hands,
UST { They should be ready} to punish the people of other nations for the sins they have committed against God. BSB BSB: to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
UST They should bind their kings with chains and put iron shackles on their leaders. BSB BSB: to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with shackles of iron,
UST In that way, they will carry out the judgment that God has decreed against them. God will give his faithful people the honor{ of doing that for him}. Praise Yahweh! BSB BSB: to execute the judgment written against them. This honor is for all His saints. Hallelujah!
