Be My Rock of Refuge 1 UST You, Yahweh, are the one who keeps me safe. May it always be clear that I was right to trust you. BSB BSB: In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
2 UST Because you always do what is right, take action to help me. Consider my situation and save me! BSB BSB: In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me.
3 UST You declare that I will be safe, since you are the one who keeps me safe and protects me, so please be like a huge rock on top of which I can always go to be safe. BSB BSB: Be my rock of refuge, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress.
4 UST My God, please rescue me from what wicked people want to do to me. Rescue me from the power of violent, evil men. BSB BSB: Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless.
5 UST Yahweh my Lord, you are the one whom I confidently expect to help me. I have trusted in you ever since I was young. BSB BSB: For You are my hope, O Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.
6 UST I have depended on you for my entire life; you even made sure that I was born safely, so I will always praise you. BSB BSB: I have leaned on You since birth; You pulled me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always for You.
7 UST It shocks many people to see me now, but you are my mighty protector. BSB BSB: I have become a portent to many, but You are my strong refuge.
8 UST I praise you lavishly throughout the day for how glorious you are. BSB BSB: My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your splendor all day long.
9 UST Please keep helping me now that I have become an old man. Please help me even though I am not strong anymore. BSB BSB: Do not discard me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.
10 UST My enemies are saying that they want to kill me, and they are planning together how to do that. BSB BSB: For my enemies speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life conspire,
11 UST They are saying,“No one will rescue him, since God is not helping him anymore, so we can pursue him and capture him.” BSB BSB: saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.”
12 UST My God, do not neglect me; hurry to help me! BSB BSB: Be not far from me, O God. Hurry, O my God, to help me.
13 UST Embarrass the people who want to kill me by making their plans fail. Yes, completely shame and disgrace those who want to harm me! BSB BSB: May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace.
14 UST But as for me, I will always trust you, and I will praise you even more{ now than I have in the past}. BSB BSB: But I will always hope and will praise You more and more.
15 UST I will tell people how you have saved me because you are good. I will do that continually because there will always be more for me to say about this. BSB BSB: My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure.
16 UST Yahweh my Lord, you are the one who gives me great strength. I will recall{ to others} how you do what is right in a way that no one else does. BSB BSB: I will come in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone.
17 UST God, you have taught me many things ever since I was young, and I still tell people today about the wonderful things you do. BSB BSB: O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds.
18 UST God, please keep helping me now that I am old and my hair is gray. That way I will be able to tell my descendants how powerfully you have helped me. BSB BSB: Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
19 UST God, you do so many great things because you are good, it is as if they have piled up to the sky. There is no one else like you, God! BSB BSB: Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You?
20 UST You have allowed me to experience many very difficult things, and it has seemed as if I was about to go to the place where dead people are, but now please give me a good life again. BSB BSB: Though You have shown me many troubles and misfortunes, You will revive me once again. Even from the depths of the earth You will bring me back up.
21 UST Please make me even greater than I was before, and comfort me rather than allow me to have difficult experiences. BSB BSB: You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.
22 UST When you do that, then I will play my lute and praise you, my God, for faithfully helping me. I will play my harp as I sing to praise you. You are the holy God whom we Israelites worship. BSB BSB: So I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
23 UST I will shout joyfully while I sing. Because you will have rescued me, I will sing to you wholeheartedly. BSB BSB: When I sing praise to You my lips will shout for joy, along with my soul, which You have redeemed.
24 UST You will have defeated and disgraced the people who wanted to harm me, so throughout the day I will describe how you did what was right. BSB BSB: My tongue will indeed proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm are disgraced and confounded.
