1. 1GMVEጺቢራዶሴ ጌቴቲዛ ቄሳሬይ ካዎቲዳ ታማኔ ኢቻሻንꬆ ላይꬃን ጳንጾሳ ጲላጾሳ ጌቴቲዛይሲ ዩሁዳ ቢታ ሃሪዛ ዎዴ ሄርዶሲ ጋሊላ ቢታ ሃሪዛ ዎዴ፥ ኢዛ ኢሻይ ፒሊጶሲ፥ ኢጹሪያሳኔ ጺራኮንዶሴ ቢታ ሃሪዛ ዎዴ ሊሳኖሲካ ኣብሎኔ ቢታ ሃሪዛ ዎዴ፥BSBBSB: In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2. 2GMVEሃናይኔ ቃያፋይ ቄሴታ ሃላቃ ጊዲዳ ዎዴ ጾሳ ቃላይ ባዞ ቢታን ዲዛ ዛካራሳ ና ዮሃኒሳኮ ዪዴስ።BSBBSB: during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.
3. 3GMVEዮሃኒሲ ዮርዳኖሴ ሻፋ ኣቻን ዲዛ ዴሬታ፥ «ኢንቴ ናጋራ ኣቶ ጋናስ ናጋራፔ ሲሚዲ ጻማቄቲቴ» ጊዲ ዮቲዴስ፤BSBBSB: He went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
4. 4GMVEሄሲካ ቃሴ ናቤ ኢሳያሲ፥ «ባዞን ሂዝጊዲ ዋሲዛ ኣሳ ኮሺንቺ፥ ‹ጎዳስ ኦጌ ጊግሲቴ፤ ባሲዲካ ሎኤꬂቴ።BSBBSB: as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.
5. 5GMVEሾባ ቢታይ ዉሪ ኩማና፤ ዙማቲኔ ዙምቡላቲ ዉሪ ዚቂ ጋና፤ ጌላ ኦጌይ ሲቲ ጋና፤ ሞሬቲዳ ኦጌይ ሎኦ ጊዳና።BSBBSB: Every valley shall be filled in, and every mountain and hill made low. The crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6. 6GMVEኣሳ ዜሬꬅ ኡባ ኣሺዛ ጾሳ ዎልቃ ቤያና› ጊዲ ባዞን ዋሲዛ ኣሳ ቃላ ጊሪስ» ጊዲ ባ ማጻፋን ጻፊዳ ማላ።BSBBSB: And all humanity will see God’s salvation.’”
7. 7GMVEዮሃኒሲካ ኢዛ ኩሼን ጻማቄታና ዪዛ ኣሳስ፥ «ኢንቴኖ ሃ ሾሻ ናይቶ! ያና ዲዛ ጾሳ ሃንቆፌ ሃካና ማላ ኦኒ ኢንቴና ዞሪዴ?BSBBSB: Then John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8. 8GMVEኢንቴ ናጋራ ኦሶፔ ሲሚዳይሳ ኤሪሲዛ ኦሶ ኦꬂቴ፤ ‹ኑ ኣዋይ ኣብራሃሜይ ኑስ ዴስ› ጉስ ኣጊቴ ጊዴስ። ‹ጾሲ ባስ ጊኮ ሃ ሹቻታፔ ኣብራሃሜስ ና ኦꬂ ዴንꬃናስ ዳንዳይዛይሳ ኤሪቴ›BSBBSB: Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
9. 9GMVEካልታይ ሚꬅ ቃንጻናስ ሚꬃ ጻጶን ዴስ። ሎኦ ኣይፌ ኣይፎንታ ኢታ ሚꬂ ዉሪ ቃንጼቲዲ ታማን ዬጌታና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
10. 10GMVEኣሳይካ፥ «ሂስቲን ኣይ ኦꬂኖ?» ጊዲ ኦይቺዴስ።BSBBSB: The crowds asked him, “What then should we do?”
11. 11GMVEዮሃኒሲካ ኣሳስ፥ «ናምኡ ማይኦይ ዲዛይ ኢሲ ማይኦይ ባይንዳ ኣሳስ ኢሞ፤ ቃሴካ ቁማይ ዲዛይካ ባይንዳዴስ ሻኪ ኢሞ» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.”
12. 12GMVEቃራጻ ሺሺዛይቲካ ጻማቄታናስ ዪዲ፥ «ኣስታማሬ! ኑ ኣይ ኦꬂኖ?» ጊዳ።BSBBSB: Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”
13. 13GMVE«ኢዚካ፥ ‹ኢንቴ ኣዛዜቲዳይሳፌ ቦላራ ቃራጻ ሺሾፍቴ› ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: “Collect no more than you are authorized,” he answered.
14. 14GMVE«ዎታዳራቲካ፥ ‹ኑኒ ቃሴ ኣይ ኦꬂኖ?› ጊዲ ኦይቺዳ። ኢዚካ፥ ‹ኦና ሚሼካ ዎልቃን ኤኮፍቴ፤ ቃሴካ ኦናካ ዎርዶን ሞቶፒቴ፤ ኢንቴ ዳሞዛይ ኢንቴስ ጊዳና› » ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”
15. 15GMVEኣሳይ ዮሃኒሳ ቤኢዲ፥ «ሃይሲ ኪርስቶሳ?» ጊዲ ባ ዎዚናን ሲꬊዴስ።BSBBSB: The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John could be the Christ.
16. 16GMVEዮሃኒሲካ ኡባስ፥ «ታኒ ኢንቴና ሃꬃን ጻማቃይስ፤ ጊዶ ኣቲን ታ ኢዛ ጫማ ቢርሻናስ ቤሶንታይ ታፔ ኣꬊዛዴይ ያና። ኢዚ ኢንቴና ጺሎ ኣያናኒኔ ታማን ጻማቃና።BSBBSB: John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
17. 17GMVEባሌዛን ዲዛ ካꬃ ጋፌዛፔ ጌሻናስ ካꬅ ሱራጊዛ ላይዳይ ኢዛ ኩሼን ዴስ። ባሌዛ ኩሜꬅ ጌሻና፤ ጊስቴዛ ቃሴ ዲኤን ቆላና፤ ጋፌዛካ ቶኦንታ ታማን ጹጋና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18. 18GMVEዮሃኒሲ ኣሳ ሃራ ዱማ ዱማ ዞሬ ቃላራ ሚንꬂ ዞሪሼ ሚሺራቾ ቃላ ዮቲዴስ።BSBBSB: With these and many other exhortations, John proclaimed the good news to the people.
19. 19GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ጋሊላ ቢታ ሃሪዛ ሄርዶሲ ባ ኢሻ ማቾ ሄሮዲያዶ ኤኪዳ ጊሻሲኔ ሃራ ዳሮ ኢታ ኦꬂዳ ጊሻስ ዮሃኒሲ ኢዛ ሃንቂዳ ጊሻስ፥BSBBSB: But when he rebuked Herod the tetrarch regarding his brother’s wife Herodias and all the evils he had done,
20. 20GMVEካሴ ሞሮዛ ቦላ ሃራ ጉጂዲ ሄርዶሲ ዮሃኒሳ ቃሾ ኬꬃን ዬጊዴስ።BSBBSB: Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.
21. 21GMVEኣሳይ ጻማቄቲዳፔ ጉዬ ዬሱሲካ ጻማቄቲዴስ፤ ኢዚ ዎሲሺን ሳሎይ ዶዬቲዴስ።BSBBSB: When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying, heaven was opened,
22. 22GMVEጺሎ ኣያናይካ ሃራጴ ሚሳቲዲ ኢዛ ቦላ ዎꬊዴስ። «ሳሎፔ፥ ‹ታ ዶሲዛ ናይ ኔና፤ ኔናን ታኒ ኡፋዬታይስ› » ጊዛ ቃላይ ዪዴስ።BSBBSB: and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
23. 23GMVEዬሱሲ ጾሳ ኦሶ ኦይኪሺን ኢዛስ ላይꬃይ ጌዴ ሄꬑ ታሙ ጊዳና። ኣሳይካ ኢዚ ዮሴፌ ና፥ ኤሌ ና፥BSBBSB: Jesus Himself was about thirty years old when He began His ministry. He was regarded as the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,
24. 24GMVEማቴ ና፥ ሌዌ ና፥ ሚልካ ና፥ ዩሁዳ ና፥ ዮሴፌ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
25. 25GMVEማቶቲዮ ና፥ ኣሞጼ ና፥ ናሆሜ ና፥ ኢሲሊሜ ና፥ ናጌ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,
26. 26GMVEማቴ ና፥ ማቶቲዮ ና፥ ሴሜዬ ና፥ ዮሴፌ ና፥ ዩሁዳ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,
27. 27GMVEዮናኔ ና፥ ኤሬሴ ና፥ ዜሩባቤሌ ና፥ ሳላቲያሌ ና፥ ኔሬ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,
28. 28GMVEሚልካ ና፥ ሃዴ ና፥ ዮሳ ና፥ ቆሳሜ ና፥ ኤሊሞዳሜ ና፥ ኤራ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er,
29. 29GMVEኢያሶ ና፥ ኤልኤዜሬ ና፥ ኢዮራሜ ና፥ ማቴ ና፥ ኤሌ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,
30. 30GMVEሲሞና ና፥ ዩሁዳ ና፥ ዮሴፌ ና፥ ዮና ና፥ ኤልያቄሜ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,
31. 31GMVEሜሊያ ና፥ ማይናኔ ና፥ ማጻቴ ና፥ ናታኔ ና፥ ዳዊቴ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,
32. 32GMVEኢሴዬ ና፥ ኢዮቤዴ ና፥ ቦኤዜ ና፥ ሶሎሞኔ ና፥ ናሶኔ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Sala, the son of Nahshon,
33. 33GMVEኣሚናዳቤ ና፥ ኣራሜ ና፥ ኣሮኔ ና፥ ኤስሮሜ ና፥ ፋሬሴ ና፥ ዩሁዳ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,
34. 34GMVEያቆቤ ና፥ ዪሳቃ ና፥ ኣብራሃሜ ና፥ ታራ ና፥ ናኮሬ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,
35. 35GMVEሴሮሄ ና፥ ኤራጉዌ ና፥ ፋሌቄ ና፥ ኣቤሬ ና፥ ሳላ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah,
36. 36GMVEቃዪናሜ ና፥ ኣርፋኪሲዴ ና፥ ሴሜ ና፥ ኖሄ ና፥ ላሜሄ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,
37. 37GMVEማቱሳላ ና፥ ሄኖኬ ና፥ ያሬዴ ና፥ ማላልኤሌ ና፥ ቃዪናሜ ና፥BSBBSB: the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan,
38. 38GMVEሄኖሴ ና፥ ሴቴ ና ኣዳሜ ና፥ ጾሳ ና ጌቴስ።BSBBSB: the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
