1ማላዶ ዎንታራ ቄሴታ ሃላቃቲ፥ ዴሬ ጪማቲኔ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቲ ኩሜꬃ ሻንጎ ኣላፌታራ ኢሲፌ ዞሬቲዲ ዬሱሳ ቃቺ ኤኪ ኤፊዲ ጲላጾሳስ ኣꬂ ኢሚዳ።Early in the morning, the chief priests, elders, scribes, and the whole Sanhedrin devised a plan. They bound Jesus, led Him away, and handed Him over to Pilate.

2ጲላጾሲካ ዬሱሳ፥ «ኔ ኣይሁዳታ ካዎ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ። ዬሱሲካ፥ «ኤ፥ ኔ ጊዳ ማላ» ጊዲ ኢዛስ ዛሪዴስ።So Pilate questioned Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.

3ቄሴታ ሃላቃቲካ ዳሮ ዮኦ ኢዛ ቦላ ሺሺ ሞቲዳ።And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things.

4ጲላጾሲ ቃሴ፥ «ኔ ኣዛስ ኦይሻ ዛሪኪ? ሄኮ ኔና ዳሮ ዮኦን ሞቴቴስ» ጊዲ ቃሴካ ኦይቺዴስ።Then Pilate questioned Him again, “Have You no answer? Look how many charges they are bringing against You!”

5ጊዶ ኣቲን ዬሱሲ ሃኢካ ኢዛስ ኣይኮካ ዛሮ ኢሞንታ ጊሻስ ጲላጾሲካ ማላሌቲዴስ።But to Pilate’s amazement, Jesus made no further reply.

6ፓዚጋ ባኣሌ ጋላስ ጲላጾሲ ዴሬይ ቢርሻና ማላ ኦይቺዳዴ ቢርሺ ዬዲዛ ዎጋይ ካሴ ዴስ።Now it was Pilate’s custom at the feast to release to the people a prisoner of their choosing.

7ኢታ ኦሶን ዴሬ ቦላ ዴንዲዲ ሼምፖ ዎꬊዳ ኣሳታራ ኢሲፌ ቃሼቲዳ ባርባኔ ጌቴቲዛ ኢሳዴይ ዴስ።And a man named Barabbas was imprisoned with the rebels who had committed murder during the insurrection.

8ዴሬይካ ዪዲ ካሴ ሎሴ ጊዲዳይሳ ኢዚ ኦꬃና ማላ ጲላጾሳ ዎሲዴስ።So the crowd went up and began asking Pilate to keep his custom.

9ጲላጾሲካ ኢስታስ፥ «ታ ኢንቴስ ኣይሁዳ ካዎ ቢርሻና ማላ ኮዬቲ?» ጊ ኦይቺዴስ።“Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” Pilate asked.

10ጲላጾሲ ሄሳꬆ ኦይቺዳይ ካሴ ቄሴታ ሃላቃቲ ዬሱሳ ቃናቴን ኣꬂ ኢሚዳይሳ ኤሪዛ ጊሻሳ።For he knew it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over.

11ቄሴታ ሃላቃቲ ቃሴ፥ «ኢዛ ኤጻ ባርባኔይ ቢርሼቶ!» ጊ ኦይቻና ማላ ዴሬዛ ዴንꬄꬂዳ።But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas to them instead.

12ጲላጾሲ፥ «ሂስቲኮ ኢንቴ ኣይሁዳ ካዎ ጊዛ ኣዴዛ ዎስታና ማላ ኮዬቲ?» ጊዴስ።So Pilate asked them again, “What then do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews?”

13ኢስቲ ቃሴካ፥ «ካቃ! ካቃ!» ጊ ዋሲዳ።And they shouted back, “Crucify Him!”

14ጲላጾሲካ፥ «ኣይ ኢታ ኦꬂዴ?» ጊ ኢስታ ኦይቺዴስ። ኢስቲ ቃሴ፥ «ካቃ! ካቃ!» ጊዲ ካሴፔ ኣꬂ ዋሲዳ።“Why?” asked Pilate. “What evil has He done?” But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify Him!”

15ጲላጾሲካ ዴሬዛ ኡፋይሳና ጊዲ ባርባኔ ኢስታስ ቢርሺዴስ። ዬሱሳ ጋራፊዲ ካቃናስ ኣꬂ ኢሚዴስ።And wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified.

16ዎታዳራቲ ዬሱሳ ዴሬ ሃሪዛይሳ ጊቤ ኤኪ ቢዲ ኣቲዳ ዎታዳራታ ኡባ ሺሺዳ።Then the soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called the whole company together.

17ዬሱሳ ዞኦ ማይኦ ማይዚዳ፤ ኣጉንꬃ ኣኪሊሌ ጻጺዲ ኢዛ ሁኤን ዎꬂዳ።They dressed Him in a purple robe, twisted together a crown of thorns, and set it on His head.

18ሄሳፌካ፥ «ኣይሁዳ ካዎ ሳሮይ ኔስ ጊዶ!» ጊሼ ኢዛ ሳሮꬂዳ።And they began to salute Him: “Hail, King of the Jews!”

19ኢዛ ሁኤ ጉፌራ ሾጪዳ፤ ኢዛ ቦላካ ጩቲዳ፤ ጉልባቲዲ ኢዛስ ጎይኒዳ።They kept striking His head with a staff and spitting on Him. And they knelt down and bowed before Him.

20ኢዛ ቦላ ቂꬊ ካኢዳፔ ጉዬ ካሴ ማይዚዳ ዞኦ ማይኦዛ ቃሪ ኤኪዲ ካሴ ኢዛ ማይኦዛ ዛሪ ማይዚዲ ካቃናሶ ኤኪ ቢዳ።After they had mocked Him, they removed the purple robe and put His own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him out to crucify Him.

21ኣላኪሳንድሮሳኔ ኤሩፎሳ ኣዋ ሲሞና ጌቴቲዛ ኢሲ ቃሬና ዴሬ ኣሲ ዴሬፔ ካታማ ዪዛይሳ ዬሱሳ ማስቃሌ ዎልቃራ ኦይኪ ቶሲዳ።Now Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and the soldiers forced him to carry the cross of Jesus.

22ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ዬሱሳ ጎልጎታ ጌቴቲዛሶ ኤፊዳ፤ ኢዛስ ቢርሼꬃይ፥ «ኣሳ ሁኤ ጉጌ» ጉሳ።They brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha, which means The Place of the Skull.

23ካርቤ ጌቴቲዛ ጫሞራ ዋላኬቲዳ ዎይኔ ጫጄ ኡያና ማላ ኢዛስ ኢሚን ኢዚ ኤኮንታ ኢጺዴስ።There they offered Him wine mixed with myrrh, but He did not take it.

24ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኢዛ ካቂዳ፤ ኢዛ ማይኦ ኢሳዴ ኢሳዴ ኣዋይሲ ጋካናኮ ጊዲ ሳማ ዬጊዲ ጊሼቲዳ።And they crucified Him. They also divided His garments by casting lots to decide what each of them would take.

25ኢስቲ ኢዛ ካቂሺን ዎንታፌ ሄꬑ ሳቴ ጊዲዴስ።It was the third hour when they crucified Him.

26ኢስቲ ማስቃሌ ቦላ ጻፊ ሺሺዳ ሞቶ ቃላይ፥ «ኣይሁዳ ካዎ» ጊዛ ቃላ።And the charge inscribed against Him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.

27ኢዛራ ኢሲፌ ናምኡ ፓንጋታ ኢሳ ኢዛፔ ኡሻቻራ ኢሳ ሃዲርሳራ ካቂዳ።Along with Jesus, they crucified two robbers, one on His right and one on His left.

28ሄሳንካ ካሴ ማጻፋይ፥ «ኢታታራ ኢሲፌ ታይቤቲዴስ» ጊዳ ቲንቢቴ ቃላይ ፖሌቲዴስ።Not in the BSB

29ኦጌራ ኣꬊ ቢዛይቲካ ባ ሁኤ ቃꬂሼ፥ «ኦይ! ኦይ! ጾሳ ኬꬃ ላላዳ ሄꬑ ጋላሳን ኬጻናይ ኔኔ?» ጊዲ ኢታ ጫሼ ጫዪሼ፥And those who passed by heaped abuse on Him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

30«ኣኔ ሃኢ ማስቃሌ ቦላፌ ዎꬋዳ ኔና ኣሻ» ጊዳ።come down from the cross and save Yourself!”

31ሄሳꬆካ ቄሴታ ሃላቃቲኔ ሙሴ ዎጋ ታማርሲዛይቲ ባ ጊዶን ኢሶይ ኢሳስ፥ «ሃራታ ኣሺዴስ ሺን ባና ኣሻና ዳንዳይቤና» ጊዲ ኢዛ ቂꬊዳ።In the same way, the chief priests and scribes mocked Him among themselves, saying, “He saved others, but He cannot save Himself!

32«ኑ ኢዛ ቤኢዲ ኣማናና ማላ ኣኔ ሃይሲ ኪርስቶሲ ኢስራኤሌታ ካዎይ ሃኢ ማስቃሌፔ ዎꬎ» ጊዳ። ኢዛራ ካቄቲዳይቲካ ኢዛ ቦላ ጫሼ ኮሪዳ።Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” And even those who were crucified with Him berated Him.

33ኡሱፑን ሳቴፔ ዶሚዲ ኡዱፉን ሳቴ ጋካናስ ቢታይ ዉሪ ꬉሚዴስ።From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.

34ኡዱፉን ሳቴ ቦላ ዬሱሲ፥ «ኤሎሄ! ኤሎሄ! ላማ ሳባቂታኔ» ጊዲ ቃላ ꬎቁ ሂስቲዲ ዋሲዴስ። ሄሳስ ቢርሼꬃይ፥ «ታ ጾሶ! ታ ጾሶ! ኔ ታና ኣዛስ ኣጋዲ?» ጉሳ።At the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

35ሄን ኤቂዳ ኣሳፔ ኢሲ ኢሲ ኣሳቲ ሄሳ ሲዪዲ፥ «ኤላሳ ጼይጌስኮ!» ጊዳ።When some of those standing nearby heard this, they said, “Behold, He is calling Elijah.”

36ሄሳፌ ኢሲ ኣሲ ኤሌሊ ቢዲ ጫሊዳ ዎይኔ ጫጄ ኢስፖንጄ ማላ ሚሻን ጌልꬂ ኬሲዲ ሚꬃ ጼራን ኦይꬂዲ ኡያና ማላ ዬሱሳስ ሺሺዴስ። ሄሳፌ ቃሴ፥ «ኣኔ ኣጋጊቴ፤ ኤላሲ ዪዲ ኢዛ ካቆፔ ዎꬂሺን ኑ ቤያና» ጊዴስ።And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine. He put it on a reed and held it up for Jesus to drink, saying, “Leave Him alone. Let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.”

37ሄሳፌ ዬሱሲ ቃላ ꬎቁ ሂስቲ ዋሲዲ ሼምፖ ኬዚዴስ።But Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last.

38ጾሳ ኬꬄ ማጋላሻይ ሁኤራ ዱጌ ናምኡ ኬዚ ዳኬቲዴስ።And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

39ዬሱሳ ጊናራ ኤቂዳ ኢሲ ማቶ ሃላቃይ ዬሱሲ ሄሳꬆ ጊታ ቃላራ ዋሲዲ ሼምፖ ኬዚሺን ቤኢዲ፥ «ሃይሳዴይ ቱሙ ጾሳ ናኮሺን» ጊዴስ።When the centurion standing there in front of Jesus saw how He had breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

40ሄ ዎዴ ማጫሳቲ ሃኒዛይሳ ሃሆን ዲዲ ጼሊዳ። ኢስታ ጊዶፌ ማግዳሌፔ ዪዳ ማራማኔ ካሎቲዛ ያቆቤ ዮሳ ኣዮ ማራሚራ ቃሴካ ሳሎሚራ ኢሲፌ ዴቴስ።And there were also women watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.

41ሄይቲ ማጫሳቲ ጋሊላን ዬሱሳ ካሊሼኔ ኢዛስ ኦꬂሼ ጋምኢዳይታ። ኢስታራካ ኢሲፌ ሃራ ዳሮ ማጫሳቲ ዬሩሳላሜ ቢዳ።These women had followed Jesus and ministered to Him while He was in Galilee, and there were many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him.

42ጋዴይ ቃሚ ቃሚ ቢሺን ሳምባታስ ጊጌቲዛ ጋላሲ ጋኪዴስ።Now it was already evening. Since it was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath),

43ዴሬ ጪማታ ጊዶን ቦንቼቲዳ ኢሲ ኣርማቲያሴ ዴሬ ኣስ ዮሴፌ ጌቴቲዛይሲ ጾሳ ካዎቴꬅ ናጊሼ ዲዛዴይ ባቦንታ ጲላጾሳኮ ቢዲ ዬሱሳ ኣሃ ዎሲዴስ።Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent Council member who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God, boldly went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.

44ጲላጾሲካ ኢዚ ሂኒ ዎዴ ኤሌራ ሃይቂዳይሳ ሲዪዲ ማላሌቲዴስ። ማቶ ሃላቃ ጼይጊሲዲ፥ «ኢዚ ሃይቂ ጋምኢዴ?» ጊዲ ኦይቺዴስ።Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was already dead, so he summoned the centurion to ask if this was so.

45ኢዚ ሃይቂዳይሳ ማቶ ሃላቃይ ጌሺ ኤሪዳፔ ጉዬ ዬሱሳ ኣሃ ዮሴፌስ ኢሚዴስ።When Pilate had confirmed it with the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

46ዮሴፌይካ ሞጎ ማይኦ ሻሚዲ ኣሃ ማስቃሌፔ ዎꬂዲ ሞጎ ማይኦን ጻጺዲ ሹቻፌ ዎጬቲዳ ዱፎን ሞጊዴስ። ዱፋ ዶና ሹቻራ ጎርዲዴስ።So Joseph bought a linen cloth, took down the body of Jesus, wrapped it in the cloth, and placed it in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.

47ማግዳሌፔ ዪዳ ማራሚራኔ ዮሴፌ ኣዮ ማራሚራ ዬሱሳ ኣሃ ኣዋን ሞጊዳኮ ቤኢዳ።Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where His body was placed.
