Matthew 14 (GMVE)

1ሄ ዎዴ ጋሊላ ዴሬ ሃሪዛ ሄርዶሲ ኣሳይ ዬሱሳ ናሺዛይሳ ሲዪዴስ።At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus

2ሄርዶሲ ባ ኣሽካራታስ፥ «ሄሳ ጊዲኮ ጻማቂዛ ዮሃኒሲ ሃይቆፔ ዴንዲዲ ዪዴስ ጉሳካ! ሃይሲ ዉሪ ጊታ ማላታይ ኢዛ ኩሼን ኦሴቲዛይ ሄሳሳ» ጊዴስ።and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

3ሄርዶሲ ባ ኢሻ ፒሊጶሳ ማቾ ሄሮዲያዲ ጋሶን ዮሃኒሳ ኦይꬂዲ ቃሾ ኬꬃን ዬጊዴስ።Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

4ጋሶይካ ዮሃኒሲ ሄርዶሳ፥ «ኔ ኢዞ ኤካና ማላ ዎጋ ጊዴና ጊዳ ጊሻሳ» ጊዴስ።because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

5ሄርዶሲካ ዮሃኒሳ ዎꬋናስ ኮዪሺን ኣሳይ ዮሃኒሳ ናቤ ማላ ጼሊዛ ጊሻስ ባቢዴስ።Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.

6ሄርዶሲ ባ ዬሌታ ጋላስ ሄሮዲያዲ ናያ ዬꬃን ኢዛ ኡፋይሲዳ ጊሻስ ናያ ኢዛ ኦይቺዳዝ ኡባ ኢማናስ ኢዚስ ጫቂዴስ።On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod

8ናያካ ኣዬይ ዞሬን፥ «ጻማቂዛ ዮሃኒሳ ሁኤ ኬሬን ዎꬃዳ ሃኢ ሃኒን ታስ ኢማ» ጋዱስ።Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”

9ሄ ዎዴ ካዎዚ ኢዛስ ሚሼቲዴስ። ጊዶ ኣቲን ጫቂዳ ጊሻሲኔ ኢዛራ ዲዛ ኢማꬃታ ጊሻስ ጊዲ ናዪ ኦይሻይ ፖሌታና ማላ ኣዛዚዴስ።The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted

10ኪቲዲኔ ዮሃኒሳ ዎይኔ ኬꬃን ዲሺን ቆꬌ ቃንጺሲዴስ።and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.

11ቃንጼቲዳ ሁኤዛ ኬሬን ዎꬂዲ ናይስ ኢሚዳ። ናያካ ኤካዳ ባ ኣዬይስ ኢማዱስ።John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

12ዮሃኒሳ ካሊዛይቲ ኢዛ ኣሃ ኤኪዲ ሞጊዲኔ ሃኒዳይሳ ኡባ ዬሱሳስ ዮቲዳ።Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.

13ሄሳ ሲዪዳ ማላ ዬሱሲ ካሴ ባ ዲዛሶ ኣጊዲኔ ዎጎሎን ጌሊዲ ባርካ ሃራ ኣሲ ባይንዳሶ ቢዴስ። ዴሬይካ ሄሳ ሲዪዲ ካታማይ ዲዛሶፔ ቶሆራ ኢዛ ካሊዴስ።When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.

14ዬሱሲካ ዎጎሎዛፔ ዎꬊሼ ዳሮ ኣሳ ቤኢዲ ኣሳስ ሚሼቲዴስ። ሳኬቲዛይታካ ፓꬂዴስ።When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15ጋዴይ ቃሚ ቃሚ ቢዛይሳ ቤኢዲ ኢዛ ካሊዛይቲ ኢዛኮ ሺቂዲ፥ «ሃይሲ ኑ ዲዛሶይ ባዞ፤ ጋዴይካ ቃሚ ቃሚ ቢዛ ጊሻስ ጌዴ ጉታታን ጉታታን ቢዲ ባስ ማናዝ ሻማና ማላ ኣሳ ዬዳ» ጊዳ።When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16ጊዶ ኣቲን ዬሱሲካ ኢስታ፥ «ኢንቴ ኣሳስ ማናዝ ኢሚቴ ኣቲን ኣሳይ ባናስ ኮሼና» ጊዴስ።“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”

17ኢስቲካ ኢዛስ ዛሪዲ፥ «ሃይሳን ኑስ ኢቻሹ ኡኬꬃፌኔ ናምኡ ሞሌፔ ኣቲን ሃራይ ባ» ጊዳ።“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

18ኢዚካ ኢስታ፥ «ኣኔ ሄይታ ዲዛይታ ሃ ታስ ኤኪ ዪቴ» ጊዴስ።“Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.

19ቃሴካ ኣሳይ ማታ ቦላ ኡታና ማላ ኣዛዚዴስ። ኢቻሹ ኡኬꬂኔ ናምኡ ሞሌታ ባ ኩሼን ኦይኪዲ ባ ኣይፌ ፑዴ ሳሎ ꬎቁ ሂስቲ ጋላቲዲ፥ ኡኬꬃ ሜንꬂ ባና ካሊዛይታስ ኢሚዴስ። ኢስቲካ ኣሳስ ኢሚዳ።And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20ኣሳይ ዉሪካ ሚዲ ካሊዴስ። ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ኢዛ ካሊዛይቲ ኣሳፔ ሚሺን ኣቲዳይሳ ታማኔ ናምኡ ሌማቴ ኩሜꬅ ሺሺዳ።They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21ሚዳ ኣሳይ ማጫሳቲኔ ጉꬃ ናይቲ ጉጄቶንታ ኣቱማሳይ ጻላ ኢቻሹ ሺ ጊዳናዛ።About five thousand men were fed, besides women and children.

22ሄራካ ኢዛ ካሊዛይቲ ዎጎሎን ጌሊዲ ጌዴ ፒንꬅ ኢዛፔ ካሴቲዲ ፒናና ማላ ኣዛዚዲ ኣሳ ሞይዛናስ ባስ ጉዬ ኣቲዴስ።Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.

23ዴሬዛ ሞይዚዳፔ ጉዬ ዎሳ ዎሳናስ ባርካ ዙማ ቦላ ኬዚዴስ። ጋዴይ ꬉሚንካ ሄን ዙማ ቦላ ባርካ ዴስ።After He had dismissed them, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,

24ሄ ዎዴ ዎጎሎያ ኣባ ካንꬃ ቢሺን ዳምባላይ ዴንዲዲ ዳሮ ሜቶꬆ ኦይኪዴስ።but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25ኦማርስ ኮይሮ ኩቶይ ባቂሺን ዬሱሲ ኣባ ቦላራ ሄሜቲዲ ኢዛ ካሊዛይቲ ዲዛሶ ዪዴስ።During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.

26ዬሱሳ ካሊዛይቲካ ኢዚ ኣባ ቦላራ ሄሜቲ ዪሺን ቤኢዲ ባቢዳ ጊሻስ ኢዛ ሞይቲሌ ጊዲኔ ዋሲዳ።When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.

27ዬሱሲ ሄራካ፥ «ኣይኮይ ባ! ታናኮ፤ ባቦፍቴ!» ጊዴስ።But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

28ጴጽሮሲ፥ «ጎዶ! ኔና ጊዲኮ ታ ኣባ ቦላራ ሄሜታዳ ኔኮ ባና ማላ ታና ኣዛዛ» ጊዴስ።“Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”

29ዬሱሲ ኢዛ፥ «ሃ ያ!» ጊዴስ። ጴጽሮሲካ ዎጎሎዛፔ ዎꬊዲ ሃꬃ ቦላራ ሄሜቲዲ ዬሱሳኮ ዪዴስ።“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

30ጊዶ ኣቲን ጫርኮዛ ዎልቃ ቢዪዲ ባቢዳ ጊሻስ ሃꬃን ሚቴቴꬅ ኦይኪዲ፥ «ጎዶ! ታና ኣሻ!» ጊ ዋሲዴስ።But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31ዬሱሲ ሄራካ ባ ኩሼ ዬዲ ኦይኪዲ፥ «ኔኖ፥ ኣማኖይ ፓጪዳይሶ! ኣዛስ ሲꬋዲ?» ጊዴስ።Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

32ዬሱሲኔ ጴጽሮሲ ዎጎሎዛን ጌሊዳ ማላ ጫርኮይ ሲርጲ ጊዴስ።And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.

33ሄሳፌ ጉዬ ዎጎሎን ዲዛይቲ፥ «ቱሙ ኔኒ ጾሳ ና!» ጊዲ ኢዛስ ጎይኒዳ።Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

34ዬሱሲኔ ኢዛ ካሊዛይቲ ኣባ ፒኒዲ ጌንሴሬጼ ጌቴቲዛሶ ጋኪዳ።When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.

35ሄን ዲዛይቲ ዬሱሳ ጊዲዳይሳ ኤሪዲ፥ ሄ ሄራን ዩዪ ኣꬋናስ ዲዛ ኣሳስ ኪታ ዬዲዳ። ኣሳይካ ሃርጋንቻታ ኡባ ዬሱሳኮ ኤሂዴስ።And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him

36ሃርጋንቻቲ ኢዛ ኣፋላ ጼራ ጻላ ቦቻና ማላ ዬሱሳ ዎሲዳ። ቦቺዳይቲ ዉሪካ ፓጺዳ።and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
