1. 1GMVEሄ ዎዴ ጻማቂዛ ዮሃኒሲ ኣሳስ፥ «ሳሎ ካዎቴꬂ ማቲዳ ጊሻስ ኢንቴ ናጋራፔ ሲሚቴ» ጊ ሳባኪሼ ዩሁዳ ባዞራ ዪዴስ።BSBBSB: In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea
2. 3GMVE«ጎዳ ኦጌ ኦꬂቴ፤ ዎጋ ኦጌዛካ ሎኤꬂቴ ጊሼ ባዞ ቢታን ዋሲዛ ቃላ» ጌቴቲዲ ካሴ ናቤ ኢሳያሳን ዮቴቲዳይሲ ዮሃኒሳ ጊሻሳ።BSBBSB: This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”
3. 4GMVEዮሃኒሲ ጋሜላ ኢስኬፌ ኦሴቲዳ ማይኦ ማይኤስ። ባ ጼሳን ዳፎ ጊጼስ፤ ኢዚ ሚዛ ቁማይ ዴጌራ ኤሲኔ ቦሌ።BSBBSB: John wore a garment of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
4. 5GMVEዬሩሳላሜፔ፥ ኩሜꬃ ዩሁዳፔኔ ዮርዳኖሴ ሻፋ ማታን ዲዛ ዴሬ ኣሳይ ዉሪ ዮሃኒሳኮ ዎꬊዲ፥BSBBSB: People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region around the Jordan.
5. 6GMVEባ ናጋራካ ኢዛስ ፓጺሼ ዮርዳኖሴ ሻፋን ኢዛ ኩሼን ጻማቄቲዴስ።BSBBSB: Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
6. 7GMVEዳሮ ፋርሳዌቲኔ ሳዱቃዌቲ ኢዚ ጻማቂዛሶ ዪሺን ቤኢዲ ዮሃኒሲ፥ «ኢንቴኖ ሾሻቶ! ኢንቴ ሲንꬃራ ዲዛ ሃንቆፌ ኣታና ማላ ኢንቴና ኦኒ ቤሲዴ?BSBBSB: But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
7. 8GMVEኢንቴ ኢንቴ ናጋራፔ ሲሚዳይሳ ቤሲዛ ኦሶ ኦꬂቴ።BSBBSB: Produce fruit, then, in keeping with repentance.
8. 9GMVE‹ኑ ኣዋይ ኣብራሃሜይ ኑስ ዴስ› ጊዛይሳን ኢንቴርካ ኢንቴና ባሌꬆፍቴ፤ ታ ኢንቴስ ጾሲ ሃይታ ሹቻታፔ ኣብራሃሜስ ና ሂስቲ ዴንꬃናስ ዳንዳዬስ ጋይስ።BSBBSB: And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
9. 10GMVEሄኮ ካልታይ ቃንጻናስ ሚꬃታ ጋርሳን ጊጌቲ ኡቲዴስ፤ ሄሳ ጊሻስ ሎኦ ኣይፌ ኣይፎንታ ሚꬂ ዉሪ ቃንጼታናኔ ታማን ዬጌታና።BSBBSB: The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
10. 11GMVEታኒ ማሮቴꬃስ ሃꬃን ጻማቃይስ፤ ሃራይ ኣቶሺን ታ ኢዛ ጫማ ቶካናስ ቤሶንታዴይ ታፔ ኣꬊዛ ሚኖይ ጉዬራ ያና፤ ኢዚካ ጺሎ ኣያናኒኔ ታማን ኢንቴና ጻማቃና።BSBBSB: I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me will come One more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
11. 12GMVEካꬅ ሱራጊዛ ላይዳይ ኢዛ ኩሼን ዴስ፤ ኢዚካ ባ ካꬃ ባሌዛ ፒቲ ጌሻና፤ ባ ጊስቴዛካ ዲኤን ቆላና፤ ሃፓ ጊዲኮ ቶኦንታ ታማን ጹጋና» ጊዴስ።BSBBSB: His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
12. 13GMVEሄ ዎዴ ዬሱሲ ዮሃኒሳን ጻማቄታናስ ጋሊላፔ ዮርዳኖሴ ሻፋ ቢዴስ።BSBBSB: At that time Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.
13. 14GMVEጊዶ ኣቲን ዮሃኒሲ፥ «ሃይሲ ሃኔና፤ ታኒ ኔናን ጻማቄታና ቤሲሺን ኔኒ ዋናዳ ታኮ ያይ?» ጊዲ ኢዛራ ማርሼቲዴስ።BSBBSB: But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?”
14. 15GMVEዬሱሲካ፥ «ኣይኮይ ባ፥ ኤሮ ጋርኪ? ሃይሳ ኦꬂዲ ኑኒ ጺሎቴꬅ ኡባ ፖላናስ ኑስ ቤሴስ» ጊዴስ። ዮሃኒሲካ ኢዛ ቆፋ ኤሮ ጊ ኤኪዴስ።BSBBSB: “Let it be so now,” Jesus replied. “It is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness in this way.” Then John permitted Him.
15. 16GMVEዬሱሲ ጻማቄቲዲ ሃꬃፌ ኬዚዳ ማላ ሄራካ ሳሎይ ዶዬቲን ጾሳ ኣያናይ ሃራጴ ሚሳቲዲ ኢዛ ቦላ ዎꬊሺን ቤዪዴስ።BSBBSB: As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting on Him.
16. 17GMVEሳሎፔካ፥ «ታኒ ኢዛን ኡፋዬቲዛ ናዚኔ ታ ሲቂዛ ታ ናዚ ሃይሳ» ጊዛ ቃላይ ሲዬቲዴስ።BSBBSB: And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
