GofaBerean Standard Bible

1. 1GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ያይቆብ ደንድድ፥ ብድ ዶሎሀ ባጋ አሳ ቢታ ጋክስ።BSBBSB: Jacob resumed his journey and came to the land of the people of the east.
2. 2GOFEያንካ ደምባ በሳን ሃꬃ ኦላ ደምስ። ሄꬑ ዶርሳ ዉደት ሄ ሃꬃ ኦላ ማታን ደኦሶና። ዉደ ኡባይ ሃ ኡየይ ሄ ኦላፈ። ሄ ሃꬃ ኦላ ዶና ጎርድያ ሹቻይ ግታ።BSBBSB: He looked and saw a well in the field, and near it lay three flocks of sheep, because the sheep were watered from this well. And a large stone covered the mouth of the well.
3. 3GOFEዶርሳ ዉደ ኡባይ ያ ሺቅኮ፥ ዉድያ ሄመይሳት ሃꬃ ኦላ ዶናፐ ሄ ሹቻ ጎንዶርስድ ዉድያ ሃ ኡሾሶና። ኡሽ ስሚድ ሄ ሹቻ ኦላ ዶናን ዛር ዎꬆሶና።BSBBSB: When all the flocks had been gathered there, the shepherds would roll away the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep. Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.
4. 4GOFEያይቆብ ኤንታኮ፥ “ህንተ አዉፐ ይደቲ?” ያግድ ኦይችስ። ኤንትካ፥ “ኑኒ ካራነፐ ይዳ” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: “My brothers,” Jacob asked the shepherds, “where are you from?” “We are from Haran,” they answered.
5. 5GOFEእ፥ “ናኮራ ናአ ናኣ ላባ ኤሬቲ?” ያግድ ኦይችስ። “ኤ፥ እያ ኤሮስ” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: “Do you know Laban the grandson of Nahor?” Jacob asked. “We know him,” they replied.
6. 6GOFEያይቆብ ኤንታ፥ “እ ሎኦ ደኢ?” ያግድ ኦይችስ። “ኤ፥ ሎኦ፥ እያ ናእዉ ራሄሎ ዶርሳታ ላጋዳ ያሮ ህን በአ” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: “Is he well?” Jacob inquired. “Yes,” they answered, “and here comes his daughter Rachel with his sheep.”
7. 7GOFEያይቆብ ኤንታኮ፥ “ሄኮ፥ ሀእ አው ꬎቃን ደኤስ። ዉደ መሄይ ሶ ስምያ ዎደይ ቡሮ ጋክቤና፥ ዶርሳ ኡሽ ኤፍድ ሄምተ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: “Look,” said Jacob, “it is still broad daylight; it is not yet time to gather the livestock. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture.”
8. 8GOFEሽን ኤንቲ፥ “ዉደ ኡባይ ሺቅን ሹቻ ሃꬃ ኦላ ዶናፐ ጎንዶርሳና ጋካናስ ኑ ኡሻናዉ ዳንዳኦኮ። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ሹቻ ጎንዶርስድ ዶርሳታ ኡሻና” ያግዶሶና።BSBBSB: But they replied, “We cannot, until all the flocks have been gathered and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water the sheep.”
9. 9GOFEእ ቡሮ ኦድሽን፥ ላባ ናእያ ራሄላ ዶርሳታ ሄምያ ግሾ፥ ባ አዋ ዶርሳታ ላጋ ኤካዳ ጋካሱ።BSBBSB: While he was still speaking with them, Rachel arrived with her father’s sheep, for she was a shepherdess.
10. 10GOFEያይቆብ ባ አየ እሻ ላባ ናእዉ ራሄሎ ላባ ዶርሳታ ላጋዳ ያሮ በእዳ ዎደ ብድ ኦላ ዶናፐ ሹቻ ጎንዶርስድ ዶርሳታ ሃ ኡሽስ።BSBBSB: As soon as Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of his mother’s brother Laban, with Laban’s sheep, he went up and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle’s sheep.
11. 11GOFEያይቆብ ራሄሎ ዬርድ፥ ኡፋይሳን ባ ቃላ ꬎቁ ኦꬅድ ዬክስ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept aloud.
12. 12GOFEያይቆብ፥ “ታኒ ነ አዋ ምቸ እርብቃ ናአ” ያግድ እዉ ኦድስ። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ እያ ዎፃ ባዳ ባ አዋስ ኦዳሱ።BSBBSB: He told Rachel that he was Rebekah’s son, a relative of her father, and she ran and told her father.
13. 13GOFEላቢ ባ ምቸ ናአ ያይቆባ ዩሳ ስእዳ መላ ሞካናዉ ዎፅድ ብስ። እያ እድም ዬርድ ባ ሶ ኤፍስ። ያን ያይቆብ ሀንዳባ ኡባ ላባስ ኦድስ።BSBBSB: When Laban heard the news about his sister’s son Jacob, he ran out to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his home, where Jacob told him all that had happened.
14. 14GOFEላቢ እያ፥ “ኔኒ ቱማ ታ አሾነ ታ ሱꬅ” ያግስ። ያይቆብ እያራ እስ አጌና ኩመꬅ ኡትስ።BSBBSB: Then Laban declared, “You are indeed my own flesh and blood.” After Jacob had stayed with him a month,
15. 15GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ላቢ ያይቆባ፥ “ኔኒ ታዉ ዳቦ ግድዳ ግሾ፥ ታዉ መላ ጮ ኦꬃነዬ? አነ ታ ነዉ አይ ቃንፃናዉ ኮሽያኮ ታዉ ኦዳ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Laban said to him, “Just because you are my relative, should you work for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be.”
16. 16GOFEላባስ ናምኡ ማጫ ናይት ደኦሶና። ባይረ ሱንꬃይ ልያ፥ ካልያ ቃስ ራሄሎ ጌተታዉሱ።BSBBSB: Now Laban had two daughters; the older was named Leah, and the younger was named Rachel.
17. 17GOFEልያ አይፈራ ጩጫ፥ ሽን ራሄላ የገልስነ ማላ ሎኦ።BSBBSB: Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was shapely and beautiful.
18. 18GOFEያይቆብ ራሄሎ ዶስድ፥ “ታኒ ነ ካሎ ናኤ ራሄል ግሾ ነዉ ላፑን ላይꬅ ኦꬃና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Since Jacob loved Rachel, he answered, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”
19. 19GOFEላቢ፥ “እዮ ሀራ አሳስ እማናፐ ነዉ እሞይ ሎኦ፥ ነ ታራ ሀይሳን ደአ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Laban replied, “Better that I give her to you than to another. Stay here with me.”
20. 20GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ያይቆብ ራሄሎ ኤካናዉ ላፑን ላይꬅ ኦꬅስ። ሽን እ እዮ ዳሮ ዶስያ ግሾ፥ እያዉ ጉꬃ ጋላስ ዳንስ።BSBBSB: So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, yet it seemed but a few days because of his love for her.
21. 21GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ያይቆብ፥ “ታ ማችዉ ታዉ እማ፥ ታ ላይꬃይ ዉርስ ታኒ እዮ ኤካናዉ ኮያይስ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Finally Jacob said to Laban, “Grant me my wife, for my time is complete, and I want to sleep with her.”
22. 22GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ላቢ አሳ ኡባ ፄግድ ያጋኖ ከስስ።BSBBSB: So Laban invited all the men of that place and prepared a feast.
23. 23GOFEሽን ሳእ ቃምን ላቢ ባ ናእዉ ልያ ኤፍድ ያይቆባስ እሚስ። ያይቆብ እዮ ኤክስ።BSBBSB: But when evening came, Laban took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and he slept with her.
24. 24GOFEቃስ ላቢ ባ አይልዉ ዛላፋ ባ ናኤ ልያስ አይለ ኦꬅድ እሚስ።BSBBSB: And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her maidservant.
25. 25GOFEሳእ ዎንትን እ ፄልያ ዎደ ሄኮ ልያ። ያይቆብ፥ “ሀይስ ኔኒ ታ ቦላ ኦꬅዳይስ አይቤ? ታኒ ነዉ ኦꬅዳይ ራሄል ግሾሳ ግደነዬ? ታና አይስ ጭማድ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: When morning came, there was Leah! “What have you done to me?” Jacob said to Laban. “Wasn’t it for Rachel that I served you? Why have you deceived me?”
26. 26GOFEላቢ እያኮ፥ “ኑ ቢታን ባይሪያ ደእሽን ካልዉ አዝናስ እመይስ ዎጋ ግደና።BSBBSB: Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older.
27. 27GOFEምሽራተꬃን ኢራ ሳምንታ ኦንግኮ፥ ቃስ ካልውካ ታኒ ነዉ እማና። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ሀራ ላፑን ላይꬅ ታዉ ኦꬃሳ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Finish this week’s celebration, and we will give you the younger one in return for another seven years of work.”
28. 28GOFEያይቆብ ኦዳ ማእድ ሳምንታ ኢራ ኦንግስ። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ ላቢ ባ ናእዉ ራሄሎ እያዉ እሚስ።BSBBSB: And Jacob did just that. He finished the week’s celebration, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.
29. 29GOFEቃስ ላቢ ባ አይልዉ ባሎ ባ ናኤ ራሄልስ አይለ ኦꬅድ እሚስ።BSBBSB: Laban also gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.
30. 30GOFEያይቆብ ራሄሎካ ኤክስ። ራሄሎ ልያፐ አꬅድ ዶስስ። ሀራ ላፑን ላይꬅ ላባስ ኦꬅስ።BSBBSB: Jacob slept with Rachel as well, and indeed, he loved Rachel more than Leah. So he worked for Laban another seven years.
31. 31GOFEጎዳይ ልያ ራሄልꬆ ዶሰታቦናሮ በእድ፥ እዉ የሎ ኡሉዋ ዶይስ። ሽን ራሄላ ናአ የሎና ጋምአሱ።BSBBSB: When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
32. 32GOFEልያ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ የላሱ። እያ፥ “ጎዳይ ታ መቱዋ በእስ፥ ሀእ ታና ታ አዝናይ ዶሳና” ጋዳ ሄ ናአ ሮቤላ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: And Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, “The LORD has seen my affliction. Surely my husband will love me now.”
33. 33GOFEእያ ናምአንꬆ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ የላሱ። እያ፥ “ጎዳይ ታኒ ዶሰታቦናይሳ በእዳ ግሾ፥ ታዉ ሀይሳካ ጉጅስ” ጋዳ ስሞና ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has given me this son as well.” So she named him Simeon.
34. 34GOFEእያ ሄꬓንꬆ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ የላሱ። እያ፥ “ታኒ እያዉ ሄꬑ አደ ናይታ የልዳ ግሾ፥ ታ አዝናይ ሀእ ታራ ሲቆን ዋፀታና” ጋዳ እያ ሌወ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Once again Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.
35. 35GOFEእያ ሀራ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ የላሱ። እያ፥ “ሀእ ታኒ ጎዳ ጋላታና” ጋዳ እያ ሱንꬃ ይሁዳ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ። ሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ የሎ ኤቃሱ።BSBBSB: And once more she conceived and gave birth to a son and said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah. Then Leah stopped having children.
