1. 1GOFEራሄላ ያይቆባስ ናይታ የሎናይሳ በአዳ ባ ምችዉ ቃናታሱ። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ ያይቆባ፥ “ታዉ ናአ እማ፥ እፅኮ ታኒ ሀይቃና” ያጋሱ።BSBBSB: When Rachel saw that she was not bearing any children for Jacob, she envied her sister. “Give me children, or I will die!” she said to Jacob.
2. 2GOFEያይቆብ ራሄሎ ሀንቀትድ፥ “ታና ነዉ የሎ እማናዉ ዎይኮ ድጋናዉ ፆሰ ጋድዬ?” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld children from you?”
3. 3GOFEእያ፥ “ታ ጋꬍንድዉ ባሎ ህኖ በአ። እያ ታ ግሾ የላና መላ ኔኒ ኢራ አቃ፥ ያንኮ፥ ታኒ እ ባጋራ ናአ ደማና” ያጋሱ።BSBBSB: Then she said, “Here is my maidservant Bilhah. Sleep with her, that she may bear children for me, so that through her I too can build a family.”
4. 4GOFEባ ጋꬍንድዉ ባሎ ማቾ ኦꬅድ ኤካና መላ እያዉ እማሱ።BSBBSB: So Rachel gave Jacob her servant Bilhah as a wife, and he slept with her,
5. 5GOFEባላ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ ያይቆባስ የላሱ።BSBBSB: and Bilhah conceived and bore him a son.
6. 6GOFEያትን ራሄላ፥ “ፆሳይ ታዉ ፕርድስ፥ ታ ዎሳካ ስእድ ታዉ አደ ናአ እሚስ” ያጋዳ ሄ ናአ ዳነ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Then Rachel said, “God has vindicated me; He has heard my plea and given me a son.” So she named him Dan.
7. 7GOFEራሄል ጋꬍንድያ ባላ ቃንꬃታዳ ያይቆባስ ናምአንꬆ አደ ናአ የላሱ።BSBBSB: And Rachel’s servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.
8. 8GOFEራሄላ፥ “ታኒ ታ ምቸራ ዎልቃማ ባፀ ባፀታዳ ፆናስ” ያጋዳ ሄ ናአ ንፍታለመ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Then Rachel said, “In my great struggles, I have wrestled with my sister and won.” So she named him Naphtali.
9. 9GOFEልያ የሎ ኤቅዳይሳ በአዳ፥ ባ ጋꬍንድያ ዛላፋ ያይቆባስ ማቾ ኦꬃዳ እማሱ።BSBBSB: When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she gave her servant Zilpah to Jacob as a wife.
10. 10GOFEልያ ጋꬍንድያ ዛላፋ አደ ናአ ያይቆባስ የላሱ።BSBBSB: And Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son.
11. 11GOFEልያ፥ “ላ ሀይስ አይብ ሎኦ ቃደ!” ያጋዳ፥ ሄ ናአ ጋደ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Then Leah said, “How fortunate!” So she named him Gad.
12. 12GOFEልያ ጋꬍንድያ ዛላፋ ያይቆባስ ናምአንꬆ አደ ናአ የላሱ።BSBBSB: When Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son,
13. 13GOFEልያ፥ “ታና ዳሮ ኡፋይሴስ፤ ማጫስ ኡባይ ታና ኡፋይትያሮ ጋና” ጋዳ ሄ ናአ አሴራ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Leah said, “How happy I am! For the women call me happy.” So she named him Asher.
14. 14GOFEግስተ ጫክያ አጌናን ሮቤል ጋደ ብድ እንኮያ ምꬃ አይፈ ደምድ ባ አየ ልያስ ኤክድ ይስ። ራሄላ ልያኮ፥ “ነ ናአይ ኤህዳ እንኮያ ምꬃ አይፍያፐ ታዉ እማ” ያጋሱ።BSBBSB: Now during the wheat harvest, Reuben went out and found some mandrakes in the field. When he brought them to his mother, Rachel begged Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”
15. 15GOFEሽን ልያ፥ “ታ አዝና ኔኒ ዎልቃን ኤክዳይስ ግዶና እፅን ሀእ ቃስ ታ ናአ እንኮያ ሚꬃ አይፍያ ኤካኔ?” ያጋሱ። ራሄላ፥ “ነ ናአ እንኮያ ታዉ እምኮ፥ ያይቆብ ሀች ቃማ ኔራ አቆ” ያጋሱ።BSBBSB: But Leah replied, “Is it not enough that you have taken away my husband? Now you want to take my son’s mandrakes as well?” “Very well,” said Rachel, “he may sleep with you tonight in exchange for your son’s mandrakes.”
16. 16GOFEሄ ጋላስ ኦማርስ ያይቆብ ባዞፈ ያ ዎደ ልያ እያ ሞካናዉ ከያዳ፥ “ኔኒ ታራ አቃናዉ ኮሼስ፤ ታኒ ታ ናአ እንኮያ አይፈያን ነና ሻማስ” ያጋሱ። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ እ ሄ ቃማ ኢራ አቅስ።BSBBSB: When Jacob came in from the field that evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, “You must come with me, for I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he slept with her that night.
17. 17GOFEፆሳይ ልያ ዎሳ ስእስ። እያ ቃንꬃታዳ እቻሻንꬆ አደ ናአ ያይቆባስ የላሱ።BSBBSB: And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore a fifth son to Jacob.
18. 18GOFEልያ፥ “ታኒ ታ አይልዉ ታ አዝናስ እምዳ ግሾ፥ ፆሳይ ሄሳ ታዉ ቃንፅስ” ያጋዳ ሄ ናአ ይሳኮራ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: Then Leah said, “God has rewarded me for giving my maidservant to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.
19. 19GOFEልያ ሀራ ቃንꬃታዳ ኡሱፑንꬆ አደ ናአ ያይቆባስ የላሱ።BSBBSB: Again Leah conceived and bore a sixth son to Jacob.
20. 20GOFEልያ፥ “ፆሲ ታዉ አልኦ እሞታ እሚስ። ታኒ ታ አዝናስ ኡሱፑን አደ ናይታ የልዳ ግሾ፥ ሀእ እ ታና ቦንቻና” ያጋዳ ሄ ናአ ዛብሎና ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: “God has given me a good gift,” she said. “This time my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons.” And she named him Zebulun.
21. 21GOFEሄሳፈ ጉየ፥ እስ ማጫ ናአ የላሱ፥ እዮ ዲና ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: After that, Leah gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.
22. 22GOFEፆሳይ ራሄሎ ቆፕስ። እ ዎሳ ስእድ እ የሎ ኡሉዋ ዶይስ።BSBBSB: Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb,
23. 23GOFEእያ ቃንꬃታዳ አደ ናአ የላሱ፤ “ፆሳይ ታ ዬላ ቃርስ።BSBBSB: and she conceived and gave birth to a son. “God has taken away my shame,” she said.
24. 24GOFEጎዳይ ታዉ ሀራ አደ ናአካ ጉጆ” ያጋዳ ሄ ናአ ዮሰፋ ጋዳ ሱንꬃሱ።BSBBSB: She named him Joseph, and said, “May the LORD add to me another son.”
25. 25GOFEራሄላ ዮሰፋ የልዳፐ ጉየ፥ ያይቆብ፥ “ታኒ ታ አዋ ቢታ ስማዳ ባና ታና ሞይዛ።BSBBSB: Now after Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me on my way so I can return to my homeland.
26. 26GOFEታኒ ኤንታ ግሾ ነዉ ኦꬅዳ ታ ማቸታነ ታ ናይታ እማ። ታኒ ባና፥ ታኒ ነዉ አይ መላ ኦሶ ኦꬅዳኮ ኔኒ ኤራሳ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Give me my wives and children for whom I have served you, that I may go on my way. You know how hard I have worked for you.”
27. 27GOFEሽን ላቢ እያኮ፥ “ታኒ ነዉ እስባ ኦዳይስ፥ ጎዳይ ነ ጋሶን ታና አንጅዳይሳ ታኒ ታ ፆሳፈ ኤራስ።BSBBSB: But Laban replied, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.”
28. 28GOFEነ ዳሞዝያ ታዉ ኦዳ፥ ታኒ ነዉ ቃንፃና” ያግስ።BSBBSB: And he added, “Name your wages, and I will pay them.”
29. 29GOFEያይቆብ፥ “ታኒ ነዉ ዋታ ኦꬅዳኮ፥ ነ መሄትካ ዋን የለትዳኮ ኔኒ ኤራሳ።BSBBSB: Then Jacob answered, “You know how I have served you and how your livestock have thrived under my care.
30. 30GOFEታኒ ያናፐ ካሰ ነዉ ደእያ ጉꬃይ ሀእ ሎይꬅ ዳርስ። ጎዳይ ነና ታኒ አꬍዳ በሳ ኡባን አንጅስ። ሽን ሀእ፥ ታኒ ታ ሶ አሳስ ኦꬃና ዎደ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: Indeed, you had very little before my arrival, but now your wealth has increased many times over. The LORD has blessed you wherever I set foot. But now, when may I also provide for my own household?”
31. 31GOFEላቢ፥ “ያትን ታኒ ነዉ አይ እሞ?” ያግድ እያ ኦይችስ። ያይቆብ፥ “ታዉ አይኮካ እሞፋ፥ ኔኒ ታዉ እስባ ኦꬃና ግድኮ፥ ታኒ ነ ዉድያ ሀእካ ሄማናነ ናጋና።BSBBSB: “What can I give you?” Laban asked. “You do not need to give me anything,” Jacob replied. “If you do this one thing for me, I will keep on shepherding and keeping your flocks.
32. 32GOFEታኒ ሀች ነ ዉደ ኡባ ግዶራ አꬋና። ሄሳን ነ ዶርሳታፐ ዋንጩዋ ዎይኮ ጋዛ፥ ካሬꬃ ማራዘታ ኡባ፥ ዴሻፐ ጋዛነ ዋንጮ ኡባ ታኒ ሻካና፥ ኤንቲ ታ ዳሞዘ ግዶ።BSBBSB: Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb, and every spotted or speckled goat. These will be my wages.
33. 33GOFEሄሳ ግሾ፥ ታ ፅሎተꬃይ ነ ታዉ ቃንፅዳ ዳሞዝያ በአናዉ ያ ዎደ ታዉ ማርካታና። ታ ዴሻፐ ጋዛ ዎይኮ ፑንጫረ ግዶናባይ ዎይኮ ካሬꬅ ግዶና አይ ዶርሳት ታ ማታን በንትኮ፥ ካይሶተትዳዳ ታይባ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: So my honesty will testify for me when you come to check on my wages in the future. If I have any goats that are not speckled or spotted, or any lambs that are not dark-colored, they will be considered stolen.”
34. 34GOFEላቢ፥ “ኤሮ፥ ኔኒ ግዳይሳዳ ግዶ” ያግስ።BSBBSB: “Agreed,” said Laban. “Let it be as you have said.”
35. 35GOFEሽን ሄ ጋላሳን ላቢ ካላደ ዎይኮ ጋዛ ግድዳ ኮሌ ኡባ፥ ዋንጮ ዎይኮ ጋዛ ግድዳ ማጫ ዴሻ ኡባ፥ ቦꬃ ዋንጮ ዴሻታነ ካሬꬃ ዋንጮ ዶርሳታ ኡባ ከስድ ባ አደ ናይታ ሄንꬅስ።BSBBSB: That very day Laban removed all the streaked or spotted male goats and every speckled or spotted female goat—every one that had any white on it—and every dark-colored lamb, and he placed them under the care of his sons.
36. 36GOFEያትድ ሄ ዉድያ ሄꬑ ጋላሳ ኦግያ ያይቆባፐ ሃስድ ኤፍስ። ሽን ያይቆብ አትዳ ላባ ዉድያ ሄምስ።BSBBSB: Then he put a three-day journey between himself and Jacob, while Jacob was shepherding the rest of Laban’s flocks.
37. 37GOFEያይቆብ ኦንጋፍረፐ፥ ባርኤፈኔ ላዉዘ ምꬃፈ ፃምአ ከስድ፥ ፖቁዋ ፖቅድ ግዶ ቦꬃ ባጋ ቃርድ ሽሎይስ።BSBBSB: Jacob, however, took fresh branches of poplar, almond, and plane trees, and peeled the bark, exposing the white inner wood of the branches.
38. 38GOFEዉደይ ሃ ኡያናዉ ያ ዎደ ጎንገን ዉድያ ስንꬃን ፖቅዳ ፃምአ ዎꬅስ። ብራይስ ከይዳይሳት ሃ ኡያናዉ ይድ፥BSBBSB: Then he set the peeled branches in the watering troughs in front of the flocks coming in to drink. So when the flocks were in heat and came to drink,
39. 39GOFEሄ ፃምአታ ስንꬃን ብራይሰቶሶና። ሄ ብራይስዳይሳት ካላደ፥ ዋንጮነ ጋዛ ማራታ የልዶሶና።BSBBSB: they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.
40. 40GOFEያይቆብ ዴሻ ማራታነ ዶርሳ ዉድያፐ ሻክድ ዱማ ዎꬅስ። አትዳ ዉድያ ካላደነ ካሬꬅ ግድያ ላባ መህያኮ ዛሪድ ኤስስ። ያትድ ላባ ዉድያራ ጋꬆና ባ ዉድያ ዱማይድ ዳርስስ።BSBBSB: Jacob set apart the young, but made the rest face the streaked dark-colored sheep in Laban’s flocks. Then he set his own stock apart and did not put them with Laban’s animals.
41. 41GOFEዉድያፐ ጎባ ማጫት ብራይሳስ ከይያ ዎደ ሄ ፃምአታ ማታን ብራይሰታና መላ ያይቆብ ሄ ፃምአታ ሃꬃ ጎንገን መሄታ ስንꬃን ዎꬄስ።BSBBSB: Whenever the stronger females of the flock were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs, in full view of the animals, so that they would breed in front of the branches.
42. 42GOFEሽን መሄት ላፋ ግድኮ ኤንታ ስንꬃን ፃምአ ዎና። ሄሳ ግሾ፥ ላፋ መሄት ላባባ ግድን ጎባት ያይቆባባ ግድዶሶና።BSBBSB: But if the animals were weak, he did not set out the branches. So the weaker animals went to Laban and the stronger ones to Jacob.
43. 43GOFEሄሳዳ ኦꬅድ ያይቆብ ዳሮ ዱረትድ፥ ዳሮ ዉድያ፥ ማጫ አይለታነ አደ አይለታ፥ ዳሮ ግማለታነ ሀረታ ሃርስ።BSBBSB: Thus Jacob became exceedingly prosperous. He owned large flocks, maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys.
