1. 1LXXΚΑΙ σὺ λαβὲ θρῆνον ἐπὶ τὸν ἄρχοντα τοῦ ἸσραὴλBSBBSB: “As for you, take up a lament for the princes of Israel
2. 2LXXκαὶ ἐρεῖς· τί ἡ μήτηρ σου; σκύμνος· ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων ἐγενήθη, ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων ἐπλήθυνε σκύμνους αὐτῆς.BSBBSB: and say: ‘What was your mother? A lioness among the lions! She lay down among the young lions; she reared her cubs.
3. 3LXXκαὶ ἀπεπήδησεν εἷς τῶν σκύμνων αὐτῆς, λέων ἐγένετο καὶ ἔμαθε τοῦ ἁρπάζειν ἁρπάγματα, ἀνθρώπους ἔφαγε.BSBBSB: She brought up one of her cubs, and he became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men.
4. 4LXXκαὶ ἤκουσαν κατ' αὐτοῦ ἔθνη, ἐν τῇ διαφθορᾷ αὐτῶν συνελήφθη, καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐν κημῷ εἰς γῆν Αἰγύπτου.BSBBSB: When the nations heard of him, he was trapped in their pit. With hooks they led him away to the land of Egypt.
5. 5LXXκαὶ εἶδεν ὅτι ἀπῶσται ἀπ' αὐτῆς, ἀπώλετο ἡ ὑπόστασις αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἄλλον ἐκ τῶν σκύμνων αὐτῆς, λέοντα ἔταξεν αὐτόν,BSBBSB: When she saw that she had waited in vain, that her hope was lost, she took another of her cubs and made him a young lion.
6. 6LXXκαὶ ἀνεστρέφετο ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων, λέων ἐγένετο καὶ ἔμαθεν ἁρπάζειν ἁρπάγματα, ἀνθρώπους ἔφαγε·BSBBSB: He prowled among the lions, and became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men.
7. 7LXXκαὶ ἐνέμετο τῷ θράσει αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτῶν ἐξηρήμωσε καὶ ἠφάνισε γῆν καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς ἀπὸ φωνῆς ὠρυώματος αὐτοῦ.BSBBSB: He broke down their strongholds and devastated their cities. The land and everything in it shuddered at the sound of his roaring.
8. 8LXXκαὶ ἔδωκαν ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἔθνη ἐκ χωρῶν κυκλόθεν καὶ ἐξεπέτασαν ἐπ' αὐτὸν δίκτυα αὐτῶν, ἐν διαφθορᾷ αὐτῶν συνελήφθη·BSBBSB: Then the nations set out against him from the provinces on every side. They spread their net over him; he was trapped in their pit.
9. 9LXXκαὶ ἔθεντο αὐτὸν ἐν κημῷ καὶ ἐν γαλεάγρᾳ, ἦλθε πρὸς βασιλέα Βαβυλῶνος, καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακήν, ὅπως μὴ ἀκουσθῇ ἡ φωνὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.BSBBSB: With hooks they caged him and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into captivity so that his roar was heard no longer on the mountains of Israel.
10. 10LXXἡ μήτηρ σου ὡς ἄμπελος καὶ ὡς ἄνθος ἐν ρόᾳ ἐν ὕδατι πεφυτευμένη, ὁ καρπὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ὁ βλαστὸς αὐτῆς ἐγένετο ἐξ ὕδατος πολλοῦ.BSBBSB: Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, planted by the water; it was fruitful and full of branches because of the abundant waters.
11. 11LXXκαὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῇ ράβδος ἐπὶ φυλὴν ἡγουμένων, καὶ ὑψώθη τῷ μεγέθει αὐτῆς ἐν μέσῳ στελεχῶν καὶ εἶδε τὸ μέγεθος αὐτῆς ἐν πλήθει κλημάτων αὐτῆς.BSBBSB: It had strong branches, fit for a ruler’s scepter. It towered high above the thick branches, conspicuous for its height and for its dense foliage.
12. 12LXXκαὶ κατεκλάσθη ἐν θυμῷ, ἐπὶ γῆν ἐρρίφη, καὶ ἄνεμος ὁ καύσων ἐξήρανε τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ αὐτῆς· ἐξεδικήθη καὶ ἐξηράνθη ἡ ράβδος ἰσχύος αὐτῆς, πῦρ ἀνήλωσεν αὐτήν.BSBBSB: But it was uprooted in fury, cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were stripped off and they withered; the fire consumed them.
13. 13LXXκαὶ νῦν πεφύτευκαν αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ἐν γῇ ἀνύδρῳ·BSBBSB: Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.
14. 14LXXκαὶ ἐξῆλθε πῦρ ἐκ ράβδου ἐκλεκτῶν αὐτῆς καὶ κατέφαγεν αὐτήν, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἐν αὐτῇ ράβδος ἰσχύος. φυλὴ εἰς παραβολὴν θρήνου ἐστὶ καὶ ἔσται εἰς θρῆνον.BSBBSB: Fire has gone out from its main branch and devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s scepter.’ This is a lament and shall be used as a lament.”
