3 STV Καθημένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦ Ὄρους τῶν Ἐλαιῶν προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ κατ’ ἰδίαν λέγοντες Εἰπὲ ἡμῖν πότε ταῦτα ἔσται καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον τῆς σῆς παρουσίας καὶ τῆς συντελείας τοῦ αἰῶνος BSB BSB: While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 STV καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Βλέπετε μή τις ὑμᾶς πλανήσῃ· BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “See to it that no one deceives you.
5 STV πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγοντες, Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ Χριστός, καὶ πολλοὺς πλανήσουσιν BSB BSB: For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
7 STV ἐγερθήσεται γὰρ ἔθνος ἐπὶ ἔθνος καὶ βασιλεία ἐπὶ βασιλείαν καὶ ἔσονται λιμοὶ καὶ λοιμοί καὶ σεισμοὶ κατὰ τόπους· BSB BSB: Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 STV πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἀρχὴ ὠδίνων BSB BSB: All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 STV τότε παραδώσουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς θλῖψιν καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου BSB BSB: Then they will deliver you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
10 STV καὶ τότε σκανδαλισθήσονται πολλοὶ καὶ ἀλλήλους παραδώσουσιν καὶ μισήσουσιν ἀλλήλους· BSB BSB: At that time many will fall away and will betray and hate one another,
11 STV καὶ πολλοὶ ψευδοπροφῆται ἐγερθήσονται καὶ πλανήσουσιν πολλούς· BSB BSB: and many false prophets will arise and deceive many.
12 STV καὶ διὰ τὸ πληθυνθῆναι τὴν ἀνομίαν ψυγήσεται ἡ ἀγάπη τῶν πολλῶν BSB BSB: Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
13 STV ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται BSB BSB: But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
14 STV καὶ κηρυχθήσεται τοῦτο τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ οἰκουμένῃ εἰς μαρτύριον πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ τότε ἥξει τὸ τέλος BSB BSB: And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
16 STV τότε οἱ ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ φευγέτωσαν ἐπί τὰ ὄρη BSB BSB: then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
17 STV ὁ ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος μὴ καταβαινέτω ἆραι τι ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ BSB BSB: Let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve anything from his house.
18 STV καὶ ὁ ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ μὴ ἐπιστρεψάτω ὀπίσω ἆραι τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ BSB BSB: And let no one in the field return for his cloak.
19 STV οὐαὶ δὲ ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις καὶ ταῖς θηλαζούσαις ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις BSB BSB: How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers!
20 STV προσεύχεσθε δὲ ἵνα μὴ γένηται ἡ φυγὴ ὑμῶν χειμῶνος μηδὲ ἐν σαββάτῳ BSB BSB: Pray that your flight will not occur in the winter or on the Sabbath.
21 STV ἔσται γὰρ τότε θλῖψις μεγάλη οἵα οὐ γέγονεν ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς κόσμου ἕως τοῦ νῦν οὐδ οὐ μὴ γένηται BSB BSB: For at that time there will be great tribulation, unseen from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.
22 STV καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐκολοβώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι οὐκ ἂν ἐσώθη πᾶσα σάρξ· διὰ δὲ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς κολοβωθήσονται αἱ ἡμέραι ἐκεῖναι BSB BSB: If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be cut short.
23 STV τότε ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ Ἰδού, ὧδε ὁ Χριστός, ἤ, Ὧδε, μὴ πιστεύσητε· BSB BSB: At that time, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it.
24 STV ἐγερθήσονται γὰρ ψευδόχριστοι καὶ ψευδοπροφῆται καὶ δώσουσιν σημεῖα μεγάλα καὶ τέρατα ὥστε πλανῆσαι, εἰ δυνατόν, καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτούς· BSB BSB: For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
25 STV ἰδού, προείρηκα ὑμῖν BSB BSB: See, I have told you in advance.
26 STV ἐὰν οὖν εἴπωσιν ὑμῖν Ἰδού, ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐστίν, μὴ ἐξέλθητε· Ἰδού, ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις μὴ πιστεύσητε· BSB BSB: So if they tell you, ‘There He is, in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or, ‘Here He is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
27 STV ὥσπερ γὰρ ἡ ἀστραπὴ ἐξέρχεται ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ φαίνεται ἕως δυσμῶν οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου· BSB BSB: For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
28 STV ὅπου γὰρ ἐὰν ᾖ τὸ πτῶμα ἐκεῖ συναχθήσονται οἱ ἀετοί BSB BSB: Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29 STV Εὐθέως δὲ μετὰ τὴν θλῖψιν τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκείνων ὁ ἥλιος σκοτισθήσεται καὶ ἡ σελήνη οὐ δώσει τὸ φέγγος αὐτῆς καὶ οἱ ἀστέρες πεσοῦνται ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις τῶν οὐρανῶν σαλευθήσονται BSB BSB: Immediately after the tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’
30 STV καὶ τότε φανήσεται τὸ σημεῖον τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ καὶ τότε κόψονται πᾶσαι αἱ φυλαὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὄψονται τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐπὶ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ μετὰ δυνάμεως καὶ δόξης πολλῆς· BSB BSB: At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 STV καὶ ἀποστελεῖ τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ μετὰ σάλπιγγος φωνῆς μεγάλης καὶ ἐπισυνάξουσιν τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων ἀνέμων ἀπ’ ἄκρων οὐρανῶν ἕως ἄκρων αὐτῶν BSB BSB: And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
33 STV οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅταν ἴδητε πάντα ταῦτα γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγύς ἐστιν ἐπὶ θύραις BSB BSB: So also, when you see all these things, you will know that He is near, right at the door.
38 STV ὥσπερ γὰρ ἦσαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ταῖς πρὸ τοῦ κατακλυσμοῦ τρώγοντες καὶ πίνοντες γαμοῦντες καὶ ἐκγαμίζοντες, ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας εἰσῆλθεν Νῶε εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν BSB BSB: For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.
39 STV καὶ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ἕως ἦλθεν ὁ κατακλυσμὸς καὶ ἦρεν ἅπαντας οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἡ παρουσία τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου BSB BSB: And they were oblivious until the flood came and swept them all away. So will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.
40 STV τότε δύο ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ ὁ εἷς παραλαμβάνεται καὶ ὁ εἷς ἀφίεται· BSB BSB: Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
41 STV δύο ἀλήθουσαι ἐν τῷ μύλωνι· μία παραλαμβάνεται καὶ μία ἀφίεται BSB BSB: Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
43 STV ἐκεῖνο δὲ γινώσκετε ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ φυλακῇ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται ἐγρηγόρησεν ἂν καὶ οὐκ ἂν εἴασεν διορυγῆναι τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ BSB BSB: But understand this: If the homeowner had known in which watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
44 STV διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται BSB BSB: For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
45 STV Τίς ἄρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς δοῦλος καὶ φρόνιμος ὃν κατέστησεν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς θεραπείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ διδόναι αὐτοῖς τὴν τροφὴν ἐν καιρῷ BSB BSB: Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time?
46 STV μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει ποιοῦντα οὕτως BSB BSB: Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
47 STV ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν BSB BSB: Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
48 STV ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ κακὸς δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ Χρονίζει ὁ κύριος μου ἐλθεῖν, BSB BSB: But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’
49 STV καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς συνδούλους ἐσθίειν δὲ καὶ πίνειν μετὰ τῶν μεθυόντων BSB BSB: And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
50 STV ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει BSB BSB: The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate.
51 STV καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτὸν καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ὑποκριτῶν θήσει· ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων BSB BSB: Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
