1 ULB હવે જે બાબતો સંબંધી તમે મારા પર લખ્યું તે વિષે પુરુષ સ્ત્રીનો સ્પર્શ ના કરે તો સારું. BSB BSB: Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good to abstain from sexual relations.
2 ULB પણ વ્યભિચાર ન થાય માટે દરેક પુરુષે અને સ્ત્રીએ લગ્ન કરવું. BSB BSB: But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.
3 ULB પતિએ પોતાની પત્ની પ્રત્યે જવાબદારી નિભાવવી. અને તેમ જ પત્નીએ પોતાના પતિ પ્રત્યેની ફરજ બજાવવી. BSB BSB: The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4 ULB પત્નીને પોતાના શરીર પર અધિકાર નથી, પણ પતિને છે; તેમ જ પતિને પોતાના શરીર પર અધિકાર નથી, પણ પત્નીને છે. BSB BSB: The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife.
5 ULB એકબીજાથી જુદાં ના થાઓ, પણ પ્રાર્થના માટે થોડીવાર સુધી એકબીજાની સંમતિથી જુદાં થવું પડે તો થાઓ. પછી પાછા ભેગા થાઓ, રખેને શેતાન તમારા માનસિક વિકારને લીધે તમને પરીક્ષણમાં પાડે. BSB BSB: Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan will not tempt you through your lack of self-control.
6 ULB પણ હું આ વાત તમને આજ્ઞા તરીકે નહિ પણ મરજિયાત રીતે કહું છું. BSB BSB: I say this as a concession, not as a command.
8 ULB પણ અપરિણીતોને તથા વિધવાઓને હું કહું છું કે, ‘તેઓ જો મારા જેવા રહે તો તેઓને તે હિતકારક છે.’” BSB BSB: Now to the unmarried and widows I say this: It is good for them to remain unmarried, as I am.
9 ULB પણ જો તેઓ પોતે સંયમ ન રાખી શકે તો તેઓને લગ્ન કરવાની છૂટ છે. કેમ કે બળવા કરતાં લગ્ન કરવું એ સારું છે. BSB BSB: But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
10 ULB પણ લગ્ન કરેલાઓને હું આજ્ઞા કરું છું, હું તો નહિ, પણ પ્રભુ કરે છે, કે પત્નીએ પોતાના પતિથી જુદા થવું નહિ; BSB BSB: To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
11 ULB પણ જો પત્ની જાતે જુદી થાય તો તેણે લગ્ન કર્યાં વિના રહેવું, નહીં તો પતિની સાથે સુલેહ કરીને રહેવું; પતિએ પોતાની પત્નીનો ત્યાગ કરવો નહિ. BSB BSB: But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
12 ULB હવે બાકીનાઓને તો પ્રભુ નહિ, પણ હું કહું છું કે, જો કોઈ વિશ્વાસી ભાઈને અવિશ્વાસી પત્ની હોય, અને એ તેની સાથે રહેવાને રાજી હોય, તો પતિએ તેનો ત્યાગ કરવો નહિ; BSB BSB: To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If a brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.
13 ULB કોઈ વિશ્વાસી પત્નીને અવિશ્વાસી પતિ હોય, અને એ તેની સાથે રહેવાને રાજી હોય, તો પત્નીએ તેનો ત્યાગ કરવો નહિ. BSB BSB: And if a woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.
14 ULB કેમ કે અવિશ્વાસી પતિએ વિશ્વાસી પત્નીથી પવિત્ર કરાયેલો છે, અવિશ્વાસી પત્નીએ વિશ્વાસી પતિથી પવિત્ર કરાયેલી છે; એવું ના હોત તો તમારાં બાળકો અશુદ્ધ હોત, પણ હવે તેઓ પવિત્ર છે. BSB BSB: For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his believing wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
15 ULB પણ જો અવિશ્વાસી પુરુષ અલગ રહેવા માગે, તો તેને અલગ રહેવા દો; એવા સંજોગોમાં કોઈ વિશ્વાસી ભાઈ કે બહેન બંધનમાં નથી; પણ ઈશ્વરે સૌને શાંતિમાં રહેવા સારુ તેડ્યાં છે. BSB BSB: But if the unbeliever leaves, let him go. The believing brother or sister is not bound in such cases. God has called you to live in peace.
16 ULB અરે સ્ત્રી, તું તારા પતિનો ઉદ્ધાર કરીશ કે નહિ, એ તું શી રીતે જાણી શકે? અરે પુરુષ, તું તારી પત્નીનો ઉદ્ધાર કરીશ કે નહિ, એ તું શી રીતે જાણી શકે? BSB BSB: How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
17 ULB કેવળ જેમ ઈશ્વરે દરેકને વહેંચી આપ્યું છે અને જેમ પ્રભુએ દરેકને તેડ્યું છે, તેમ તે દરેકે ચાલવું; અને એ જ નિયમ હું સર્વ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયો માટે ઠરાવું છું. BSB BSB: Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is what I prescribe in all the churches.
18 ULB શું કોઈ સુન્નતી તેડાયેલો છે? તો તેણે બેસુન્નતી જેવા ન થવું, શું કોઈ બેસુન્નતી તેડાયેલો છે? તો તેણે સુન્નતી જેવા થવું નહિ. BSB BSB: Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man still uncircumcised when called? He should not be circumcised.
20 ULB દરેક માણસને જે સ્થિતિમાં તેડવામાં આવ્યો હોય એ જ સ્થિતિમાં તે રહે. BSB BSB: Each one should remain in the situation he was in when he was called.
21 ULB શું તને દાસ હોવા છતાં તેડવામાં આવ્યો છે? તો તે બાબતની ચિંતા ન કર; અને જો તું છૂટો થઈ શકે એમ હોય તો બહેતર છે કે તારે તેનો લાભ લેવો જોઈએ. BSB BSB: Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let it concern you—but if you can gain your freedom, take the opportunity.
22 ULB કેમ કે જે દાસને પ્રભુએ તેડયો છે તે હવે પ્રભુનો સ્વતંત્ર સેવક છે; અને એમ જ જે સ્વતંત્ર હોય તેને જો તેડવામાં આવ્યો હોય તો તે હવે ખ્રિસ્તનો દાસ છે. BSB BSB: For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord’s freedman. Conversely, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ’s slave.
23 ULB તમને મૂલ્ય ચૂકવીને ખરીદવામાં આવ્યા છે તેથી તમે માણસના દાસ ન થાઓ. BSB BSB: You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
24 ULB ભાઈઓ, જે સ્થિતિમાં તમને તેડવામાં આવ્યા હોય તે સ્થિતિમાં દરેકે ઈશ્વરની સાથે રહેવું. BSB BSB: Brothers, each one should remain in the situation he was in when God called him.
25 ULB હવે કુંવારીઓ વિષે મને પ્રભુ તરફથી કંઈ આજ્ઞા મળી નથી; પણ જેમ વિશ્વાસુ થવાને પ્રભુ પાસેથી હું દયા પામ્યો છું, તેમ હું મારો પોતાનો અભિપ્રાય આપું છું. BSB BSB: Now about virgins, I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy.
26 ULB તો મને એમ લાગે છે કે, હાલનાં સંકટના સમયમાં દરેક માણસે હાલમાં પોતાની જે સ્થિતિ છે તેમાં તેણે રહેવું તે હિતકારક છે. BSB BSB: Because of the present crisis, I think it is good for a man to remain as he is.
27 ULB શું તું પત્ની સાથે બંધાયેલો છે? તો તું તેનાથી વિખૂટા પડવાની ઇચ્છા કરીશ નહિ. શું તું પત્નીથી છૂટો થયેલો છે? તો હવે તું પત્નીની ઇચ્છા કરીશ નહિ. BSB BSB: Are you committed to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Are you free of commitment? Do not look for a wife.
28 ULB જો તું લગ્ન કરે, તો તું પાપ નથી કરતો; અને જો કુંવારી સ્ત્રી લગ્ન કરે તો તે પાપ કરતી નથી; જોકે લગ્ન કરવાથી જીવનમાં કેટલીક મુશ્કેલીઓ પડશે પણ હું તમારા પર દયા રાખીને તમારો બચાવ કરવા ઇચ્છું છું. BSB BSB: But if you do marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
29 ULB ભાઈઓ, હું એ કહું છું કે હવે થોડો સમય બાકી રહેલો છે; જેઓએ લગ્ન કર્યા છે તેઓ લગ્ન કર્યાં વિનાના જેવા થાય. BSB BSB: What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;
30 ULB રડનારા ન રડનારા જેવા થાય; અને હર્ષ કરનારા એવા આનંદથી દૂર રહેનારા જેવા થાય; વળી ખરીદનાર પોતાની પાસે કશું ન રાખનારા જેવા થાય; BSB BSB: those who weep, as if they did not; those who are joyful, as if they were not; those who make a purchase, as if they had nothing;
31 ULB અને જેઓ આ દુનિયાના વ્યવહાર કરનારા છે તેઓ દુનિયાના વ્યવહારમાં ગળાડૂબ થઈ તલ્લીન થઈ ગયેલા જેવા થાઓ નહિ. કેમ કે આ ભૌતિક જગતનો વૈભવ નષ્ટ થવાનો છે. BSB BSB: and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
32 ULB પણ તમે ચિંતા કરો નહિ, એવી મારી ઇચ્છા છે. જેણે લગ્ન કરેલાં નથી તે પ્રભુની વાતોમાં તલ્લીન રહે છે, કે પ્રભુને કેવી રીતે મહિમા આપવો; BSB BSB: I want you to be free from concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the work of the Lord, how he can please the Lord.
33 ULB પણ જેણે લગ્ન કરેલું છે તે દુનિયાની નાશવંત વાતોમાં મગ્ન રહે છે, કે પત્નીને કેવી રીતે ખુશ રાખવી. BSB BSB: But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife,
34 ULB તેમ જ પરિણીતા તથા કુંવારીમાં પણ ભિન્નતા છે. જેમણે લગ્ન કરેલું નથી તે સ્ત્રીઓ પ્રભુની વાતોની કાળજી રાખે છે, કે તે શરીરમાં તથા આત્મામાં પવિત્ર થાય; પણ પરિણીતા દુનિયાદારીની ચિંતા રાખે છે, કે પતિને કેવી રીતે ખુશ રાખવો. BSB BSB: and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
35 ULB પણ હું તમારા પોતાના હિતને માટે તે કહું છું; કે જેથી તમે સંકટમાં આવી પાડો નહિ, પણ એ માટે કહું છું કે તમે યોગ્ય રીતે ચાલો તથા એક મનના અને એક ચિત્તના થઈને પ્રભુની સેવા કરો. BSB BSB: I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but in order to promote proper decorum and undivided devotion to the Lord.
36 ULB પણ જો કોઈને એવું લાગે કે પોતાના ઉત્કટ આવેગના લીધે તે પોતાની સગાઈ કરેલ કન્યા સાથે અયોગ્ય રીતે વર્તન કરે છે તો તેણે પોતાની ઇચ્છા મુજબ તેની સાથે લગ્ન કરવું. તેમ કરવું તે પાપ નથી. BSB BSB: However, if someone thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his betrothed, and if she is beyond her youth and they ought to marry, let him do as he wishes; he is not sinning; they should get married.
37 ULB પણ જો તે લગ્ન ન કરવાનો નિર્ણય કરે છે, તેને કોઈ મજબુરી ન હોય અને તે પોતાના આવેગ પર અંકુશ રાખી શકે તેમ હોય તો સારું થશે કે તે તેની સાથે લગ્ન ન કરે. BSB BSB: But the man who is firmly established in his heart and under no constraint, with control over his will and resolve in his heart not to marry the virgin, he will do well.
38 ULB એટલે જેની સાથે તેણે સગાઈ કરેલ છે તેની સાથે જે લગ્ન કરે છે તે સારું કરે છે, અને જે તેની સાથે લગ્ન ન કરવાનું પસંદ કરે છે તે વધારે સારો નિર્ણય કરે છે. BSB BSB: So then, he who marries the virgin does well, but he who does not marry her does even better.
39 ULB પત્ની જ્યાં સુધી તેનો પતિ જીવે છે, ત્યાં સુધી નિયમથી બંધાયેલી છે; પણ જો તેનો પતિ મૃત્યુ પામ્યો હોય, તો જેને તે ઇચ્છે છે તે વિશ્વાસીની સાથે લગ્ન કરવાને તે સ્વતંત્ર છે, પણ ફક્ત પ્રભુમાં. BSB BSB: A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.
40 ULB પણ જો તે એકલી રહે, તો મારા ધાર્યા પ્રમાણે, તે વધારે આશીર્વાદિત થશે; મારી આ સલાહ ઈશ્વરના આત્મા તરફથી છે; એવું હું માનું છું. BSB BSB: In my judgment, however, she is happier if she remains as she is. And I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
