1 ULB હવે દાઉદ રાજા ઘણો વૃદ્ધ અને પ્રોઢ ઉંમરનો થયો હોવાથી તેઓએ તેને વસ્ત્રો ઓઢાડ્યાં, પણ તેને હૂંફ મળી નહિ. BSB BSB: Now King David was old and well along in years, and though they covered him with blankets, he could not keep warm.
2 ULB તેથી તેના સેવકોએ તેને કહ્યું, "અમારા માલિક રાજાને માટે એક જુવાન કુમારિકા શોધી કાઢીએ. તે રાજાની હજૂરમાં ઊભી રહીને તેમની સેવા અને સારવાર કરે. આપની સાથે સૂઈ જાય જેથી આપનું શરીર ઉષ્માભર્યું રહે." BSB BSB: So his servants said to him, “Let us search for a young virgin for our lord the king, to attend to him and care for him and lie by his side to keep him warm.”
3 ULB તેથી તેઓએ સુંદર કન્યા માટે આખા ઇઝરાયલમાં શોધ કરી. તેઓને શૂનામ્મી અબીશાગ નામે એક કન્યા મળી. તેને તેઓ રાજા પાસે લાવ્યા. BSB BSB: Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful girl, and they found Abishag the Shunammite and brought her to the king.
4 ULB તે કુમારિકા ઘણી સુંદર હતી. તેણે રાજાની સેવા કરી, પણ રાજાએ તેની સાથે શારીરિક સંબંધ રાખ્યો નહિ. BSB BSB: The girl was unsurpassed in beauty; she cared for the king and served him, but he had no relations with her.
5 ULB તે સમયે હાગ્ગીથના દીકરા અદોનિયાએ અભિમાન કરતાં કહ્યું કે, "હું રાજા થઈશ." તેણે પોતાને માટે રથો, ઘોડેસવારો તથા પોતાની આગળ દોડવા માટે પચાસ માણસો તૈયાર કર્યા. BSB BSB: At that time Adonijah, David’s son by Haggith, began to exalt himself, saying, “I will be king!” And he acquired chariots and horsemen and fifty men to run ahead of him.
6 ULB "તેં આ પ્રમાણે કેમ કર્યું?" એવું કહીને તેના પિતાએ તેને કોઈ વખત નારાજ કર્યો નહોતો. અદોનિયા ઘણો રૂપાળો હતો, તે આબ્શાલોમ પછી જનમ્યો હતો. BSB BSB: (His father had never once reprimanded him by saying, “Why do you act this way?” Adonijah was also very handsome, born next after Absalom.)
7 ULB તેણે સરુયાના દીકરા યોઆબ તથા અબ્યાથાર યાજક પાસેથી સલાહ લીધી. તેઓએ અદોનિયાને અનુસરીને તેને સહાય કરી. BSB BSB: So Adonijah conferred with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, who supported him.
8 ULB પણ સાદોક યાજક, યહોયાદાનો દીકરો બનાયા, નાથાન પ્રબોધક, શિમઈ, રેઈ તથા દાઉદના યોદ્ધાઓ અદોનિયાના પક્ષે ગયા નહિ. BSB BSB: But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David’s mighty men would not join Adonijah.
9 ULB અદોનિયાએ એન-રોગેલ પાસેના ઝોહેલેથના પથ્થરની બાજુએ ઘેટાં, બળદો તથા પુષ્ટ પશુઓનું અર્પણ કર્યું. તેણે પોતાના સર્વ ભાઈઓને, એટલે રાજાઓના દીકરાઓને તથા રાજાના સેવકોને એટલે યહૂદિયાના સર્વ માણસોને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું. BSB BSB: And Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and fattened calves near the stone of Zoheleth, which is next to En-rogel. He invited all his royal brothers and all the men of Judah who were servants of the king.
10 ULB પણ તેણે નાથાન પ્રબોધકને, બનાયાને, યોદ્ધાઓને તથા પોતાના ભાઈ સુલેમાનને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું નહિ. BSB BSB: But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.
11 ULB પછી નાથાને સુલેમાનની માતા બાથશેબાને બોલાવીને પૂછ્યું, "શું તમે નથી સાંભળ્યું કે, હાગ્ગીથનો દીકરો અદોનિયા રાજા બન્યો છે અને આપણા માલિક દાઉદને ખબર નથી? BSB BSB: Then Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king, and our lord David does not know it?
12 ULB હવે હું તમને એવી સલાહ આપું છું કે તમે તમારો પોતાનો જીવ તથા તમારા દીકરા સુલેમાનનો જીવ બચાવો. BSB BSB: Now please, come and let me advise you. Save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.
13 ULB તમે દાઉદ રાજા પાસે જઈને તેમને કહો કે, 'મારા માલિક રાજા, તમે શું આ તમારી દાસી આગળ એવા સમ નથી ખાધા કે, "તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન ચોક્કસ મારા પછી રાજા થશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે?" તો પછી શા માટે અદોનિયા રાજ કરે છે?' BSB BSB: Go at once to King David and say, ‘My lord the king, did you not swear to your maidservant, “Surely your son Solomon will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’
14 ULB જયારે તમે રાજા સાથે વાત કરતા હશો, ત્યારે હું તમારી પાછળ આવીને તમારી વાતને સમર્થન આપીશ." BSB BSB: Then, while you are still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and confirm your words.”
15 ULB તેથી બાથશેબા રાજાના ઓરડામાં ગઈ. રાજા ઘણો વૃદ્વ થયો હતો અને શૂનામ્મી અબીશાગ રાજાની સેવા ચાકરી કરતી હતી. BSB BSB: So Bathsheba went to see the king in his bedroom. Since the king was very old, Abishag the Shunammite was serving him.
16 ULB બાથશેબાએ રાજાની આગળ નમીને પ્રણામ કર્યા. અને રાજાએ પૂછ્યું, "તારી શી ઇચ્છા છે?" BSB BSB: And Bathsheba bowed down in homage to the king, who asked, “What is your desire?”
17 ULB તેણે તેને જવાબ આપ્યો, "મારા માલિક, તમે તમારી દાસી આગળ તમારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહના સમ ખાધા હતા, 'ચોક્કસ તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન મારા પછી રાજ કરશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે.' BSB BSB: “My lord,” she replied, “you yourself swore to your maidservant by the LORD your God: ‘Surely your son Solomon will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne.’
18 ULB હવે જો, અદોનિયા રાજા બન્યો છે અને મારા માલિક રાજા, તમે તો એ જાણતા નથી. BSB BSB: But now, behold, Adonijah has become king, and you, my lord the king, do not know it.
19 ULB તેણે બળદો, પુષ્ટ પશુઓ અને ઘેટાંનું અર્પણ કર્યું છે અને રાજાના સર્વ દીકરાઓને, અબ્યાથાર યાજકને તથા સેનાધિપતિ યોઆબને આમંત્રણ આપ્યાં છે, પણ તેણે તમારા સેવક સુલેમાનને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું નથી. BSB BSB: And he has sacrificed an abundance of oxen, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the other sons of the king, as well as Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army. But he has not invited your servant Solomon.
20 ULB મારા માલિક રાજા, સર્વ ઇઝરાયલની નજર તમારા પર છે, મારા માલિક રાજા પછી તમારા રાજ્યાસન પર કોણ બેસશે તે અમને જણાવો. BSB BSB: And as for you, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon you to tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
21 ULB નહિ તો જયારે મારા માલિક રાજા પોતાના પિતૃઓની જેમ ઊંઘી જશે, ત્યારે એમ થશે કે હું તથા મારો દીકરો સુલેમાન અપરાધી ગણાઈશું." BSB BSB: Otherwise, when my lord the king rests with his fathers, I and my son Solomon will be counted as criminals.”
22 ULB બાથશેબા હજી તો રાજાની સાથે વાત કરતી હતી, એટલામાં નાથાન પ્રબોધક અંદર આવ્યો. BSB BSB: And just then, while Bathsheba was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet arrived.
23 ULB સેવકોએ રાજાને જણાવ્યું કે, "નાથાન પ્રબોધક અહીં છે." જયારે તે રાજાની આગળ આવ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે રાજાની આગળ નમીને પ્રણામ કર્યા. BSB BSB: So the king was told, “Nathan the prophet is here.” And Nathan went in and bowed facedown before the king.
24 ULB નાથાને કહ્યું, "મારા માલિક રાજા, શું તમે એમ કહ્યું છે કે, 'મારા પછી અદોનિયા રાજ કરશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે?' BSB BSB: “My lord the king,” said Nathan, “did you say, ‘Adonijah will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne’?
25 ULB કેમ કે આજે જ તેણે જઈને પુષ્કળ બળદો, પુષ્ટ પશુઓ, તથા ઘેટાંનું અર્પણ કર્યું છે અને રાજાએ સર્વ દીકરાઓને, સેનાધિપતિઓ તથા અબ્યાથાર યાજકને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે. તેઓ તેની આગળ ખાય છે અને પીવે છે અને કહે છે, 'રાજા અદોનિયા ઘણું જીવો!' BSB BSB: For today he has gone down and sacrificed an abundance of oxen, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’
26 ULB પણ મને, હા, મને આ તમારા સેવકને, સાદોક યાજકને, યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને તથા તમારા સેવક સુલેમાનને તેણે આમંત્રણ આપ્યું નથી. BSB BSB: But me your servant he has not invited, nor Zadok the priest, nor Benaiah son of Jehoiada, nor your servant Solomon.
27 ULB શું એ કામ મારા માલિક રાજાએ કર્યું છે? જો એમ હોય તો મારા માલિક રાજાની પછી તેમના રાજ્યાસન પર કોણ બેસશે એ તમે આ તમારા દાસને તો જણાવ્યું નથી" BSB BSB: Has my lord the king let this happen without informing your servant who should sit on the throne after my lord the king?”
28 ULB પછી દાઉદ રાજાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, "બાથશેબાને મારી પાસે બોલાવો." તે રાજાની હજૂરમાં આવીને તેની સંમુખ ઊભી રહી. BSB BSB: Then King David said, “Call in Bathsheba for me.” So she came into the king’s presence and stood before him.
29 ULB રાજાએ સમ ખાઈને કહ્યું, "જે ઈશ્વરે મારો પ્રાણ વિપત્તિમાંથી બચાવ્યો તે જીવતા ઈશ્વરની હાજરીમાં કહું છું કે, BSB BSB: And the king swore an oath, saying, “As surely as the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress,
30 ULB જેમ મેં તારી આગળ ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહના સમ ખાઈને તેમની હાજરીમાં કહ્યું છે કે, 'મારા પછી તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન રાજ કરશે અને તે મારી જગ્યાએ રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે,' તે પ્રમાણે હું આજે ચોક્કસ કરીશ." BSB BSB: I will carry out this very day exactly what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel: Surely your son Solomon will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place.”
31 ULB પછી બાથશેબાએ રાજાની આગળ જમીન સુધી નીચે નમીને સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત પ્રણામ કર્યા અને કહ્યું, "મારા માલિક દાઉદ રાજા સદા જીવતા રહો!" BSB BSB: Bathsheba bowed facedown in homage to the king and said, “May my lord King David live forever!”
32 ULB દાઉદ રાજાએ કહ્યું, "સાદોક યાજકને, નાથાન પ્રબોધકને તથા યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને મારી પાસે બોલાવો." તેથી તેઓ રાજાની સમક્ષ ઉપસ્થિત થયા. BSB BSB: Then King David said, “Call in for me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” So they came before the king.
33 ULB રાજાએ તેઓને કહ્યું, "તમે તમારા માલિકના સેવકોને તમારી સાથે લઈને મારા દીકરા સુલેમાનને મારા પોતાના ખચ્ચર પર સવારી કરાવીને તેને ગિહોન લઈ જાઓ. BSB BSB: “Take my servants with you,” said the king. “Set my son Solomon on my own mule and take him down to Gihon.
34 ULB ત્યાં સાદોક યાજક તથા નાથાન પ્રબોધક તેને ઇઝરાયલ પર રાજા તરીકે અભિષિક્ત કરે અને રણશિંગડુંં વગાડીને જાહેર કરજો કે, 'સુલેમાન રાજા ઘણું જીવો!' BSB BSB: There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over Israel. You are to blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
35 ULB પછી તમે તેની પાછળ આવજો અને તે આવીને મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે; કેમ કે તે મારી જગ્યાએ રાજા થશે. મેં તેને ઇઝરાયલ પર તથા યહૂદિયા પર આગેવાન નીમ્યો છે." BSB BSB: Then you shall go up with him, and he is to come and sit on my throne and reign in my place. For I have appointed him ruler over Israel and Judah.”
36 ULB યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાએ રાજાને જવાબ આપ્યો, "એમ જ થાઓ! મારા માલિક રાજાના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ પણ એવું જ કહો. BSB BSB: “Amen,” replied Benaiah son of Jehoiada. “May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, so declare it.
37 ULB જેમ યહોવાહ મારા માલિક રાજાની સાથે રહેતા આવ્યા છે, તેમ જ તે સુલેમાન સાથે પણ રહો અને મારા માલિક દાઉદ રાજાના રાજ્યાસન કરતાં તેનું રાજ્યાસન મોટું કરો." BSB BSB: Just as the LORD was with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon and make his throne even greater than that of my lord King David.”
39 ULB સાદોક યાજકે મંડપમાંથી તેલનું શિંગ લઈને સુલેમાનનો અભિષેક કર્યો. પછી તેઓએ રણશિંગડુંં વગાડ્યું અને સર્વ લોકો બોલી ઊઠ્યા, "સુલેમાન રાજા ઘણું જીવો!" BSB BSB: Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the ram’s horn, and all the people proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!”
40 ULB પછી સર્વ લોકો તેની પાછળ ગયા અને વાંસળીઓ વગાડતા હતા. અને તેઓએ એવો આનંદ કર્યો કે તેઓના પોકારથી ભૂકંપ થયો. BSB BSB: All the people followed him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy that the earth was split by the sound.
41 ULB અદોનિયા તથા તેની સાથેના સર્વ મહેમાનો ભોજન પૂરું કરી રહ્યા ત્યારે તેઓએ તે સાંભળ્યું. જયારે યોઆબે રણશિંગડાંનો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે કહ્યું, "શહેરમાં આ ઘોંઘાટ શાનો છે?" BSB BSB: Now Adonijah and all his guests were finishing their feast when they heard the sound of the ram’s horn. “Why is the city in such a loud uproar?” asked Joab.
42 ULB તે હજી બોલતો હતો, એટલામાં જ, અબ્યાથાર યાજકનો દીકરો યોનાથાન ત્યાં આવ્યો. અદોનિયાએ કહ્યું, "અંદર આવ, કેમ કે તું પ્રામાણિક માણસ છે અને સારા સમાચાર લાવ્યો હશે." BSB BSB: As he was speaking, suddenly Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest arrived. “Come in,” said Adonijah, “for you are a man of valor. You must be bringing good news.”
43 ULB યોનાથાને અદોનિયાને જવાબ આપ્યો, "આપણા માલિક દાઉદ રાજાએ સુલેમાનને રાજા બનાવ્યો છે. BSB BSB: “Not at all,” Jonathan replied. “Our lord King David has made Solomon king.
44 ULB અને રાજાએ તેની સાથે સાદોક યાજકને, નાથાન પ્રબોધકને, યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને તથા કરેથીઓ અને પલેથીઓને મોકલ્યા છે. તેઓએ તેને રાજાના ખચ્ચર પર સવારી કરાવી છે. BSB BSB: And with Solomon, the king has sent Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, along with the Cherethites and Pelethites, and they have set him on the king’s mule.
45 ULB સાદોક યાજકે તથા નાથાન પ્રબોધકે તેને ગિહોનમાં રાજા તરીકે અભિષેક કર્યો છે અને ત્યાંથી તેઓ એવી રીતે આનંદ કરતા પાછા આવ્યા કે તે નગર ગાજી રહ્યું છે. તમે જે જયપોકારો સાંભળ્યા છે તે એ જ છે. BSB BSB: Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon, and they have gone up from there with rejoicing that rings out in the city. That is the noise you hear.
46 ULB વળી રાજાના રાજ્યાસન પર સુલેમાન બિરાજમાન થયો છે. BSB BSB: Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.
47 ULB રાજાના સેવકોએ આપણા માલિક દાઉદ રાજાને આશીર્વાદ આપવા અંદર આવીને કહ્યું, 'તમારા ઈશ્વર તમારા નામ કરતાં સુલેમાનનું નામ શ્રેષ્ઠ કરો અને તમારા રાજ્યાસન કરતાં તેમનું રાજ્યાસન ઉન્નત બનાવો.' અને રાજાએ પોતાના પલંગ પર બેઠા થઈને પ્રણામ કર્યા. BSB BSB: The king’s servants have also gone to congratulate our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon more famous than your own name, and may He make his throne greater than your throne.’ And the king has bowed in worship on his bed,
48 ULB રાજાએ પણ કહ્યું, 'ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ જેમણે આ દિવસે મારા જોતાં મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસનાર દીકરો મને આપ્યો છે, તેઓ પ્રશંસાને યોગ્ય છે.'" BSB BSB: saying, ‘Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel! Today He has provided one to sit on my throne, and my eyes have seen it.’”
49 ULB પછી અદોનિયાના સર્વ મહેમાનો ગભરાયા; તેઓ ઊઠીને માણસ પોતપોતાને માર્ગે ગયા. BSB BSB: At this, all the guests of Adonijah arose in terror and scattered.
51 ULB પછી સુલેમાનને કહેવામાં આવ્યું, "જો, અદોનિયા સુલેમાન રાજાથી ગભરાય છે, કેમ કે તે વેદીનાં શિંગ પકડીને કહે છે, 'સુલેમાન રાજા આજે ઈશ્વરની આગળ સમ ખાય કે તે તલવારથી પોતાના સેવકને મારી નાખશે નહિ.'" BSB BSB: It was reported to Solomon: “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon, and he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon first swear to me not to put his servant to the sword.’”
52 ULB સુલેમાને કહ્યું, "જો તે યોગ્ય વર્તણૂક કરશે, તો તેનો એક પણ વાળ વાંકો કરવામાં આવશે નહિ. પણ જો તેનામાં દુષ્ટતા માલૂમ પડશે, તો તે માર્યો જશે." BSB BSB: And Solomon replied, “If he is a man of character, not a single hair of his will fall to the ground. But if evil is found in him, he will die.”
53 ULB તેથી સુલેમાન રાજાએ માણસો મોકલ્યા, તેઓ તેને વેદી પરથી ઉતારી લાવ્યા. તેણે આવીને સુલેમાન રાજાને નમીને પ્રણામ કર્યા અને સુલેમાને તેને કહ્યું, "તું તારે ઘરે જા." BSB BSB: So King Solomon summoned Adonijah down from the altar, and he came and bowed down before King Solomon, who said to him, “Go to your home.”
