1 ULB વૃદ્ધને સખ્તાઈથી ઠપકો ન આપ પણ જેમ પિતાને તેમ તેમને સમજાવ, જેમ ભાઈઓને તેમ જુવાનોને; BSB BSB: Do not rebuke an older man, but appeal to him as to a father. Treat younger men as brothers,
2 ULB જેમ માતાઓને તેમ વૃદ્ધ સ્ત્રીઓને; અને જેમ બહેનોને તેમ જુવાન સ્ત્રીઓને પૂર્ણ પવિત્રતામાં સમજાવ. BSB BSB: older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
3 ULB જેઓ ખરેખર વિધવાઓ છે તેઓનું સન્માન કર. BSB BSB: Honor the widows who are truly widows.
4 ULB વળી કોઈ વિધવાના સંતાનો અથવા સંતાનોના સંતાનો હોય તો તેઓ પ્રથમ પોતાના ઘર પ્રત્યે સમર્પિત બને અને પોતાનાં માતાપિતાનું ઋણ ચુકવવાનું શીખે, જે ખરેખર ઈશ્વર સમક્ષ રુચિકર છે. BSB BSB: But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to show godliness to their own family and repay their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.
5 ULB તદુપરાંત ખરેખર વિધવા એ છે જે ત્યજી દેવાયેલ છે અને જેની આશા ઈશ્વરમાં છે અને રાતદિવસ વિનંતી તથા પ્રાર્થનામાં તત્પર રહે છે. BSB BSB: The widow who is truly in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day in her petitions and prayers.
6 ULB પણ જે સ્ત્રી સ્વછંદીપણામાં જીવે છે તે જીવતાજીવ મૂએલી છે. BSB BSB: But she who lives for pleasure is dead even while she is still alive.
7 ULB આ વાતો આગ્રહથી તેઓને જણાવ કે તેઓ ઠપકાપાત્ર ન બને. BSB BSB: Give these instructions to the believers, so that they will be above reproach.
8 ULB પણ જે માણસ પોતાનું અને વિશેષ કરીને પોતાના ઘરનું પૂરું કરતો નથી, તો તેણે વિશ્વાસનો નકાર કર્યો છે તથા તે અવિશ્વાસી કરતા પણ બદતર છે. BSB BSB: If anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 ULB જો સાંઠ વર્ષની ઉપરની, પુનર્લગ્ન કર્યું હોય નહિ એવી, BSB BSB: A widow should be enrolled if she is at least sixty years old, faithful to her husband,
10 ULB સારાં કામમાં સાક્ષીરૂપ, બાળકોનો ઉછેર કરનાર, આગતા-સ્વાગતા કરનાર, સંતોના પગ ધોનાર, પીડિતોની સહાય કરનાર, દરેક સારાં કામ કરનાર, તેવી વિધવા સ્ત્રીનું નામ સૂચીમાં નોંધવામાં આવે. BSB BSB: and well known for good deeds such as bringing up children, entertaining strangers, washing the feet of the saints, imparting relief to the afflicted, and devoting herself to every good work.
11 ULB પણ જુવાન વિધવાઓને નામંજૂર કર, જયારે તેઓ ખ્રિસ્તની વિરુદ્ધ વિષયવાસનાઓથી ઉન્મત્ત થઈને પરણવા ચાહે. BSB BSB: But refuse to enroll younger widows. For when their passions draw them away from Christ, they will want to marry,
12 ULB તેઓ પ્રથમ કરેલી પ્રતિજ્ઞાનો ત્યાગ કરીને ન્યાયશાસનને નોતરે છે. BSB BSB: and thus will incur judgment because they are setting aside their first faith.
13 ULB તદુપરાંત તેઓ આળસુ બનવાનું શીખે છે, ઘરેઘરે ફરે છે. આળસુ થવા ઉપરાંત જે ઉચિત નથી તેવું બોલીને કૂથલી તથા પારકી પંચાત કરે છે. BSB BSB: At the same time they will also learn to be idle, going from house to house and being not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, discussing things they should not mention.
14 ULB માટે હું ઇચ્છું છું કે જુવાન વિધવાઓ લગ્ન કરે, બાળકોને જન્મ આપે, ઘર સંભાળે અને શત્રુને ઠપકો આપવાની તક ના આપે. BSB BSB: So I advise the younger widows to marry, have children, and manage their households, denying the adversary occasion for slander.
15 ULB કેમ કે અત્યાર સુધીમાં કેટલીક વિધવા સ્ત્રીઓ શેતાનની પાછળ ભટકી ગઈ છે. BSB BSB: For some have already turned aside to follow Satan.
16 ULB જો વિધવાઓ કોઈ વિશ્વાસી સ્ત્રી પર આધારિત હોય, તો તે તેઓનું પૂરું કરે, અને મંડળી પર તેમનો ભાર નાખે નહિ કે જેથી જે વિધવાઓ ખરેખર નિરાધાર છે તેઓની મદદ મંડળી કરે. BSB BSB: If any believing woman has dependent widows, she must assist them and not allow the church to be burdened, so that it can help the widows who are truly in need.
17 ULB જે વડીલો સારી રીતે અધિકાર ચલાવે છે અને વિશેષે કરીને જેઓ ઉપદેશ કરવામાં તથા શિક્ષણ આપવામાં શ્રમ કરે છે, તેઓને બમણાં સન્માનિત ગણવા. BSB BSB: Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
18 ULB કેમ કે શાસ્ત્રવચન કહે છે કે, ‘કણસલાં ખૂંદનાર બળદના મોં પર જાળી ન બાંધ’ અને ‘કામ કરનાર પોતાના મહેનતણાને પાત્ર છે’. BSB BSB: For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” and, “The worker is worthy of his wages.”
19 ULB બે કે ત્રણ સાક્ષીઓ વગર વડીલ પરનો આરોપ સ્વીકારીશ નહિ. BSB BSB: Do not entertain an accusation against an elder, except on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
20 ULB પાપ કરનારાઓને સઘળાંની આગળ ઠપકો, કે જેથી બીજાઓને પણ ભય રહે. BSB BSB: But those who persist in sin should be rebuked in front of everyone, so that the others will stand in fear of sin.
21 ULB ઈશ્વર, ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુ તથા પસંદ કરેલા સ્વર્ગદૂતોની સમક્ષ ગંભીરતાપૂર્વક હું પ્રમાણિત કરું છું કે, આ બાબતોને પૂર્વગ્રહ વિના, પક્ષપાતથી દુર રહીને કર. BSB BSB: I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to maintain these principles without bias, and to do nothing out of partiality.
22 ULB કોઈને દીક્ષા આપવામાં ઉતાવળ ના કર. બીજાઓનાં પાપમાં ભાગીદાર થઈશ નહિ; પણ પોતાને શુદ્ધ રાખ. BSB BSB: Do not be too quick in the laying on of hands and thereby share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
23 ULB હવેથી એકલું પાણી ન પીતો, પણ તારા પેટને લીધે તથા તારી વારંવારની બિમારીઓને લીધે, થોડો દ્રાક્ષાસવ પણ પીજે. BSB BSB: Stop drinking only water and use a little wine instead, because of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
24 ULB કેટલાક મનુષ્યોનાં પાપ જાહેર હોવાથી તેમનો ન્યાય પહેલાં થાય છે પણ કેટલાકનાં પછીથી જાહેર થાય છે. BSB BSB: The sins of some men are obvious, going ahead of them to judgment; but the sins of others do not surface until later.
25 ULB તે જ પ્રમાણે કેટલાકનાં સારાં કામ જગજાહેર છે, તેની સામે જે જાહેર નથી તે પણ ગુપ્ત રહી શકતા નથી. BSB BSB: In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even the ones that are inconspicuous cannot remain hidden.
