1 ULB તારું અન્ન પાણી પર નાખ, કેમ કે ઘણાં દિવસો પછી તે તને પાછું મળશે. BSB BSB: Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.
2 ULB સાતને હા, વળી આઠને પણ હિસ્સો આપ, કેમ કે પૃથ્વી પર શી આપત્તિ આવશે તેની તને ખબર નથી BSB BSB: Divide your portion among seven, or even eight, for you do not know what disaster may befall the land.
3 ULB જો વાદળાં પાણીથી ભરેલાં હોય, તો તે વરસાદ લાવે છે, જો કોઈ ઝાડ દક્ષિણ તરફ કે ઉત્તર તરફ પડે, તો તે જ્યાં પડે ત્યાં જ પડ્યું રહે છે. BSB BSB: If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain upon the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie.
4 ULB જે માણસ પવન પર ધ્યાન રાખ્યા કરે છે તે વાવશે નહિ, અને જે માણસ વાદળ જોતો રહેશે તે કાપણી કરશે નહિ. BSB BSB: He who watches the wind will fail to sow, and he who observes the clouds will fail to reap.
5 ULB પવનની ગતિ શી છે, તથા ગર્ભવતીના ગર્ભમાં હાડકાં કેવી રીતે વધે છે તે તું જાણતો નથી તેમ જ ઈશ્વર જે કંઈ કાર્ય કરે છે તે તું જાણતો નથી. તેમણે સર્વ સર્જ્યું છે. BSB BSB: As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the bones are formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
6 ULB સવારમાં બી વાવ; અને સાંજે તારો હાથ પાછો ખેંચી લઈશ નહિ; કારણ કે આ સફળ થશે કે, તે સફળ થશે, અથવા તે બન્ને સરખી રીતે સફળ થશે તે તું જાણતો નથી. BSB BSB: Sow your seed in the morning, and do not rest your hands in the evening, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or if both will equally prosper.
7 ULB સાચે જ અજવાળું રમણીય છે, અને સૂર્ય જોવો એ આંખને ખુશકારક છે. BSB BSB: Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
8 ULB જો માણસ લાંબુ આયુષ્ય ભોગવે, તો તેણે જીવનના સર્વ દિવસો પર્યંત આનંદ કરવો. પરંતુ તેણે અંધકારનાં દિવસો યાદ રાખવા, કારણ કે તે ઘણાં હશે, જે સઘળું બને છે તે વ્યર્થતા જ છે. BSB BSB: So if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is futile.
9 ULB હે યુવાન, તારી યુવાવસ્થાના દિવસોમાં તું આનંદ કર. અને તારી યુવાનીના દિવસોમાં તારું હૃદય તને ખુશ રાખે તારા હૃદયની ઇચ્છાઓ પૂરી કર, તથા તારી આંખોની દ્રષ્ટિ મુજબ તું ચાલ. પણ નક્કી તારે યાદ રાખવું કે સર્વ બાબતોનો ઈશ્વર ન્યાય કરશે. BSB BSB: Rejoice, O young man, while you are young, and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
10 ULB માટે તારા હૃદયમાંથી ગુસ્સો દૂર કર. અને તારું શરીર દુષ્ટત્વથી દૂર રાખ, કેમ કે યુવાવસ્થા અને ભરજુવાની એ વ્યર્થતા છે. BSB BSB: So banish sorrow from your heart, and cast off pain from your body, for youth and vigor are fleeting.
