1 ULB પરંતુ હવે જે મારા કરતાં ઉંમરમાં નાના છે જેઓના પિતાઓને હું મારા ટોળાંના કૂતરાઓની હરોળમાં પણ ન રાખું તેટલા નીચા ગણતો, તેઓ આજે મારી હાંસી કરે છે. BSB BSB: “But now they mock me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to put with my sheep dogs.
2 ULB હા, જે માણસોનું બળ નાશ પામ્યું છે તેઓના બાહુબળથી મને શો લાભ થાય? BSB BSB: What use to me was the strength of their hands, since their vigor had left them?
3 ULB દુકાળ તથા ભૂખથી તેઓ લેવાઈ ગયા છે; ઉજ્જડ તથા વેરાન જગ્યાના અંધકારમાં તેઓ અરણ્યની સૂકી ધૂળ ખાય છે. BSB BSB: Gaunt from poverty and hunger, they gnawed the dry land, and the desolate wasteland by night.
4 ULB તેઓ રણમાં ખારી ભાજી ચૂંટી કાઢે છે અને રોતેમ વૃક્ષનાં મૂળિયાં ખાય છે. BSB BSB: They plucked mallow among the shrubs, and the roots of the broom tree were their food.
5 ULB તેઓને મનુષ્યોમાંથી હાંકી કાઢવામાં આવ્યા છે. ચોરની જેમ લોકો તેઓની પાછળ ચીસો પાડે છે. BSB BSB: They were banished from among men, shouted at like thieves,
6 ULB તેઓ ખીણમાં, ખડકોમાં, ગુફાઓમાં, અને ખાડાઓમાં પડી રહે છે. BSB BSB: so that they lived on the slopes of the wadis, among the rocks and in holes in the ground.
7 ULB તેઓ પશુની જેમ ઝાડીઓમાં બરાડા પાડે છે; તેઓ ઝાડ નીચે સમૂહમાં ભેગા થાય છે. BSB BSB: They cried out among the shrubs and huddled beneath the nettles.
8 ULB તેઓ મૂર્ખોનાં સંતાનો હા, અધમ પુરુષોનાં સંતાનો છે. દેશમાંથી તેઓને કાઢી મૂકવામાં આવ્યા હતા. BSB BSB: A senseless and nameless brood, they were driven off the land.
9 ULB હવે તે માણસો મારી મશ્કરી કરે છેે. હું તેઓ મધ્યે કહેવતરૂપ બન્યો છું. BSB BSB: And now they mock me in song; I have become a byword among them.
10 ULB તેઓ મારા પ્રત્યે ઘૃણા કરે છે અને મારી પાસે આવતા નથી. મારા મોં પર થૂંકતાં પણ તેઓ અચકાતા નથી. BSB BSB: They abhor me and keep far from me; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.
11 ULB કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે પોતાની દોરી છોડીને મને દુઃખી કર્યો છે. અને લોકોએ મારી સામું પોતાનો બધો અંકુશ ગુમાવ્યો છે. BSB BSB: Because God has unstrung my bow and afflicted me, they have cast off restraint in my presence.
12 ULB મારી જમણી બાજુએ હુલ્લડખોરો ઊઠે છે; તેઓ મને દૂર હાંકી કાઢે છે અને મારો નાશ કરવા તેઓ ઘેરો નાખે છે. BSB BSB: The rabble arises at my right; they lay snares for my feet and build siege ramps against me.
13 ULB તેઓ રસ્તા તોડી નાખે છે જેથી હું ભાગી ન શકું. મારો નાશ કરવામાં તેઓ સફળ થયા છે. તેઓને કોઈની મદદની જરૂર નથી. BSB BSB: They tear up my path; they profit from my destruction, with no one to restrain them.
14 ULB તેઓ દીવાલમાં બાકોરું પાડે છે. તેઓ તેની આરપાર ધસી જાય છે અને પથ્થરો મારી પર પડે છે. BSB BSB: They advance as through a wide breach; through the ruins they keep rolling in.
15 ULB મારા માથે વિનાશ આવી પડ્યો છે. તેઓ પવનની જેમ મારા સ્વમાનને ઘસડી લઈ જાય છે. મારી આબાદી વાદળોની જેમ લોપ ગઈ છે. BSB BSB: Terrors are turned loose against me; they drive away my dignity as by the wind, and my prosperity has passed like a cloud.
16 ULB હવે મારું જીવન લગભગ ખતમ થઈ ગયું છે ઘણાં દુ:ખોના દિવસોએ મને ઘેરી લીધો છે. BSB BSB: And now my soul is poured out within me; days of affliction grip me.
17 ULB રાત્રી દરમ્યાન મારાં હાડકાંઓને પીડા થાય છે, પીડા મને સતાવવાનું છોડતી નથી. BSB BSB: Night pierces my bones, and my gnawing pains never rest.
18 ULB મારા અતિ મંદવાડને કારણે મારાં વસ્ત્રો વેરવિખેર થઈ ગયાં છે. મારા વસ્ત્રના ગળાની પટ્ટી માફક તેઓએ મને ટૂંપો દીધો છે. BSB BSB: With great force He grasps my garment; He seizes me by the collar of my tunic.
19 ULB ઈશ્વરે મને કાદવમાં ફેંકી દીધો છે. હવે હું ધૂળ તથા રાખ જેવો બની ગયો છું. BSB BSB: He throws me into the mud, and I have become like dust and ashes.
20 ULB ઓ ઈશ્વર હું કાલાવાલા કરું છું, પણ તમે મારું સાંભળતા નથી. હું તમારી સમક્ષ આવીને ઊભો છું પણ તમે મારી સામે નજર કરતા નથી. BSB BSB: I cry out to You for help, but You do not answer; when I stand up, You merely look at me.
21 ULB તમે મારા પ્રત્યે નિષ્ઠુર થઈ ગયા છો. તમે તમારી શક્તિનો ઉપયોગ મને ઈજા પહોંચાડવામાં કરો છો. BSB BSB: You have ruthlessly turned on me; You oppose me with Your strong hand.
22 ULB તમે મને વાયુમાં ઊંચો કરો છો તમે મને તેની પર સવારી કરાવો છો; તમે મને હવાના તોફાનમાં વાદળાની જેમ પિગળાવી નાખો છો. BSB BSB: You snatch me up into the wind and drive me before it; You toss me about in the storm.
23 ULB હું જાણું છું કે તમે મને મૃત્યુમાં, એટલે સર્વ સજીવોને માટે નિશ્ચિત કરેલા ઘરમાં લઈ જશો. BSB BSB: Yes, I know that You will bring me down to death, to the place appointed for all the living.
24 ULB મુશ્કેલીમાં આવી પડેલો માણસ હાથ લાંબો નહિ કરે? તેની પડતીમાં તે મદદને માટે કાલાવાલા નહિ કરે? BSB BSB: Yet no one stretches out his hand against a ruined man when he cries for help in his distress.
25 ULB શું દુ:ખી માનવીઓ માટે મેં આંસુ સાર્યાં નથી? કંગાલો માટે મારું હૃદય શું રડી ઊઠયું નથી? BSB BSB: Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has my soul not grieved for the needy?
26 ULB મેં ભલાઈની આશા રાખી હતી પણ દુષ્ટતા આવી પડી મેં પ્રકાશની આશા રાખી હતી પણ અંધારું આવી પડ્યું. BSB BSB: But when I hoped for good, evil came; when I looked for light, darkness fell.
27 ULB મારું અંતર ઊકળે છે. દુ:ખનો અંત આવતો નથી. મારા પર વિપત્તિના દિવસો આવી પડ્યા છે. BSB BSB: I am churning within and cannot rest; days of affliction confront me.
28 ULB હું સૂર્યના પ્રકાશ વિના શોક કરતો ફરું છું, હું જાહેર સભામાં ઊભો રહીને મદદ માટે બૂમો પાડું છું. BSB BSB: I go about blackened, but not by the sun. I stand up in the assembly and cry for help.
29 ULB હું શિયાળોનો ભાઈ અને શાહમૃગોનો સાથી થયો છું. BSB BSB: I have become a brother of jackals, a companion of ostriches.
30 ULB મારી ચામડી કાળી પડી ગઈ છે અને મારા શરીર પરથી ખરી પડી છે. ગરમીથી મારાં હાડકાં બળી જાય છે. BSB BSB: My skin grows black and peels, and my bones burn with fever.
31 ULB તેથી મારી વીણામાંથી હવે વેદનાના સૂર નીકળે છે, મારી વાંસળીમાંથી હવે રુદનનો સ્વર સંભળાય છે. BSB BSB: My harp is tuned to mourning and my flute to the sound of weeping.
