1 ULB હવે બે દિવસ પછી પાસ્ખા તથા બેખમીર રોટલીનું પર્વ હતું; અને કેવી રીતે ઈસુને દગાથી પકડીને મારી નાખવા એ વિષે મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓ શોધ કરતા હતા. BSB BSB: Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were two days away, and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a covert way to arrest Jesus and kill Him.
2 ULB તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘પર્વમાં નહિ કેમ કે રખેને ત્યાં લોકોમાં હુલ્લડ થાય.’” BSB BSB: “But not during the feast,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”
3 ULB જયારે ઈસુ બેથાનિયામાં સિમોન કુષ્ઠ રોગીના ઘરમાં હતા અને જમવા બેઠા હતા, ત્યારે એક સ્ત્રી શુદ્ધ જટામાંસીનું અતિ મૂલ્યવાન અત્તર ભરેલી સંગેમરમરની ડબ્બી લઈને આવી; અને એ ડબ્બી ભાંગીને તેણે ઈસુના માથા પર અત્તર રેડ્યું. BSB BSB: While Jesus was in Bethany reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke open the jar and poured it on Jesus’ head.
4 ULB પણ કેટલાક પોતાના મનમાં રોષે ભરાઈને કહેવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘અત્તરનો બગાડ શા માટે કર્યો? BSB BSB: Some of those present, however, expressed their indignation to one another: “Why this waste of perfume?
5 ULB કેમ કે એ અત્તર ત્રણસો દીનાર કરતાં વધારે કિંમતે વેચી શકાત. અને એ પૈસા ગરીબોને અપાત.’” તેઓએ તેની વિરુદ્ધ કચકચ કરી. BSB BSB: It could have been sold for over three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor.” And they scolded her.
6 ULB પણ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તેને રહેવા દો; તેને કેમ સતાવો છો? તેણે મારા પ્રત્યે સારુ કામ કર્યું છે. BSB BSB: But Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful deed to Me.
7 ULB કેમ કે ગરીબો સદા તમારી સાથે છે. જયારે તમે ચાહો ત્યારે તેઓનું ભલું કરી શકો છો; પણ હું સદા તમારી સાથે નથી. BSB BSB: The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them whenever you want. But you will not always have Me.
8 ULB જે તેનાથી થઈ શક્યું તે તેણે કર્યું છે; દફનને સારુ અગાઉથી તેણે મારા શરીરને અત્તર લગાવ્યું છે. BSB BSB: She has done what she could to anoint My body in advance of My burial.
9 ULB વળી હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, આખી દુનિયામાં, જ્યાં કંઈ સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરાશે, ત્યાં આ સ્ત્રીએ જે સેવા કરી છે તે તેની યાદગીરીને અર્થે કહેવામાં આવશે.’” BSB BSB: And truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached in all the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”
10 ULB બારમાંનો એક, એટલે યહૂદા ઇશ્કારિયોત, મુખ્ય યાજકોની પાસે ગયો, એ સારુ કે તે ઈસુને ધરપકડ કરીને તેઓના હાથમાં સોંપશે. BSB BSB: Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.
11 ULB તેઓ તે સાંભળીને ખુશ થયા; અને તેને પૈસા આપવાનું વચન આપ્યું. ત્યારથી તે ઈસુની ધરપકડ કરવાની તક શોધતો રહ્યો. BSB BSB: They were delighted to hear this, and they promised to give him money. So Judas began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
12 ULB બેખમીર રોટલીના પર્વને પહેલે દિવસે, જયારે લોકો પાસ્ખાનું બલિદાન કરતા હતા, ત્યારે ઈસુના શિષ્યો તેમને પૂછે છે કે, ‘તમે પાસ્ખા ખાઓ માટે અમે ક્યાં જઈને તૈયારી કરીએ, એ વિષે તમારી શી ઇચ્છા છે?’” BSB BSB: On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
13 ULB ઈસુએ પોતાના શિષ્યોમાંના બે શિષ્યોને મોકલ્યા અને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘શહેરમાં જાઓ, પાણીનો ઘડો લઈને જતો એક માણસ તમને મળશે; તેની પાછળ જજો. BSB BSB: So He sent two of His disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him,
14 ULB અને જે ઘરમાં તે જાય તેના માલિકને પૂછજો કે, “ઉપદેશક કહે છે કે, મારી ઊતરવાનો ઓરડી ક્યાં છે કે, જેમાં હું મારા શિષ્યો સાથે પાસ્ખા ખાઉં?” BSB BSB: and whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’
15 ULB તે પોતે તમને એક મોટી મેડી શણગારેલી અને તૈયાર કરેલી બતાવશે. ત્યાં આપણે સારું પાસ્ખા તૈયાર કરો.’” BSB BSB: And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
16 ULB શિષ્યો શહેરમાં આવ્યા અને જેવું ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું હતું તેવું તેઓને મળ્યું; અને તેઓએ પાસ્ખા તૈયાર કર્યુ. BSB BSB: So the disciples left and went into the city, where they found everything as Jesus had described. And they prepared the Passover.
17 ULB સાંજ પડી ત્યારે બાર શિષ્યોની સાથે તે આવ્યા. BSB BSB: When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.
18 ULB અને તેઓ બેસીને ખાતા હતા ત્યારે ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, તમારામાંનો એક, જે મારી સાથે ખાય છે, તે મને ધરપકડ કરશે.’” BSB BSB: And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating with Me will betray Me.”
19 ULB તેઓ દુ:ખી થઈ ગયા; અને એક પછી એક ઈસુને કહેવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘શું તે હું છું?’” BSB BSB: They began to be grieved and to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I?”
20 ULB તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘બારમાંનો એક, જે મારી સાથે થાળીમાં રોટલી બોળે છે તે જ તે છે. BSB BSB: He answered, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is dipping his hand into the bowl with Me.
21 ULB કેમ કે માણસના દીકરા સંબંધી જેમ લખ્યું છે તેમ તે જાય છે ખરો; પણ જે માણસના દીકરાની ધરપકડ કરાવે છે, તે માણસને અફસોસ. જો તે માણસ જન્મ્યો ન હોત, તો તે તેને માટે સારું હોત.’” BSB BSB: The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
22 ULB તેઓ જમતા હતા, ત્યારે ઈસુએ રોટલી લઈને આશીર્વાદ માગીને ભાંગી અને તેઓને આપી; અને કહ્યું કે, ‘લો, આ મારું શરીર છે.’” BSB BSB: While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take it; this is My body.”
23 ULB પ્યાલો લઈને તથા સ્તુતિ કરીને તેમણે તેઓને આપ્યો; અને બધાએ તેમાંથી પીધું. BSB BSB: Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
24 ULB ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, નવા કરારનું આ મારું રક્ત છે, જે ઘણાંને માટે વહેવડાવેલું આવ્યું છે. BSB BSB: He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
25 ULB હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, જે દિવસે હું ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં નવો દ્રાક્ષારસ નહિ પીઉં, તે દિવસ સુધી હું ફરી દ્રાક્ષનો રસ પીનાર નથી.’” BSB BSB: Truly I tell you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.”
26 ULB તેઓ ગીત ગાયા પછી જૈતૂનનાં પહાડ પર ગયા. BSB BSB: And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
27 ULB ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે સઘળા મારાથી દૂર થઈ જશો, કેમ કે એવું લખેલું છે કે, હું પાળકને મારીશ અને ઘેટાં વિખેરાઈ જશે. BSB BSB: Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
28 ULB પરંતુ મારા પાછા ઊઠ્યાં પછી હું તમારી અગાઉ ગાલીલમાં જઈશ.’” BSB BSB: But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”
29 ULB પણ પિતરે ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘જો બધા તમને ત્યજી દેશે, તોપણ હું તમારાથી દૂર થઈશ નહિ.’” BSB BSB: Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I never will.”
30 ULB ઈસુ તેને કહે છે, કે ‘હું તને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, આજે રાત્રે જ મરઘો બે વાર બોલ્યા અગાઉ તું ત્રણ વાર મારો નકાર કરીશ.’” BSB BSB: “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”
31 ULB પણ તેણે વધારે હિંમતથી કહ્યું કે, ‘મારે તમારી સાથે મરવું પડે, તોપણ હું તમારો નકાર નહિ કરું’. બીજા બધાએ પણ એમ જ કહ્યું. BSB BSB: But Peter kept insisting, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.
33 ULB ઈસુ પોતાની સાથે પિતરને, યાકૂબને તથા યોહાનને લઈ ગયા અને ઈસુ બહુ અકળાવા તથા ઉદાસ થવા લાગ્યા. BSB BSB: He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be deeply troubled and distressed.
34 ULB ઈસુ તેઓને કહે છે, ‘મારો જીવ મરવા જેવો અતિ શોકાતુર છે; અહીં રહીને જાગતા રહો.’” BSB BSB: Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch.”
35 ULB તેમણે થોડેક આગળ જઈને જમીન પર પડીને પ્રાર્થના કરી કે, શક્ય હોય તો આ ક્ષણ મારાથી દૂર કરાય.’” BSB BSB: Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour would pass from Him.
37 ULB ઈસુ પાછા આવે છે, અને તેઓને ઊંઘતા જુએ છે અને પિતરને કહે છે, ‘સિમોન શું તું ઊંઘે છે? શું એક ઘડી સુધી તું જાગતો રહી શકતો નથી? BSB BSB: Then Jesus returned and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you asleep?” He asked. “Were you not able to keep watch for one hour?
38 ULB જાગતા રહો અને પ્રાર્થના કરો, કે તમે પરીક્ષણમાં ન પડો; આત્મા તત્પર છે ખરો, પણ શરીર નિર્બળ છે.’” BSB BSB: Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
39 ULB ફરી તેમણે જઈને એ જ શબ્દો બોલીને પ્રાર્થના કરી. BSB BSB: Again He went away and prayed, saying the same thing.
40 ULB ફરી પાછા આવીને ઈસુએ તેઓને ઊંઘતા જોયા; તેઓની આંખો ઊંઘથી ઘણી ભારે હતી; અને તેમને શો જવાબ દેવો, એ તેઓને સમજાતું ન હતું. BSB BSB: And again Jesus returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. And they did not know what to answer Him.
41 ULB ઈસુ ત્રીજી વાર આવીને તેઓને કહે છે કે, ‘શું તમે હજુ ઊંઘ્યા કરો છો અને આરામ લો છો? બસ થયું. તે ઘડી આવી ચૂકી છે, જુઓ, માણસના દીકરાને પાપીઓના હાથમાં સોંપી દેવાશે. BSB BSB: When Jesus returned the third time, He said, “Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 ULB ઊઠો, આપણે જઈએ; જુઓ, મને જે પકડાવનાર છે તે આવી પહોંચ્યો છે.’” BSB BSB: Rise, let us go. See, My betrayer is approaching!”
43 ULB તરત, તે હજી બોલતા હતા, એટલામાં બારમાંનો એક, એટલે યહૂદા અને તેની સાથે મુખ્ય યાજકો, શાસ્ત્રીઓ તથા વડીલોએ મોકલેલા ઘણાં લોકો તલવારો તથા લાકડીઓ લઈને ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યા. BSB BSB: While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, scribes, and elders.
44 ULB હવે ઈસુને ધરપકડ કરનારાઓએ તેઓને એવી નિશાની આપી હતી કે, ‘જેને હું ચૂમીશ તે જ તે છે, તેમને પકડજો અને ચોકસાઈ લઈ જજો.’” BSB BSB: Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The One I kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away securely.”
45 ULB ઈસુ આવ્યા કે તરત તેમની પાસે જઈને યહૂદા કહે છે કે, ‘ગુરુજી.’” અને તે તેમને ચૂમ્યો. BSB BSB: Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
46 ULB ત્યારે તેઓએ ઈસુને પકડી લીધા. BSB BSB: Then the men seized Jesus and arrested Him.
47 ULB પણ પાસે ઊભા રહેનારાઓમાંના એકે તલવાર ઉગામીને પ્રમુખ યાજકના ચાકરને મારી અને તેનો કાન કાપી નાખ્યો. BSB BSB: And one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 ULB ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જેમ ચોરને પકડે તેમ તમે તલવારો તથા લાકડીઓ લઈને મને પકડવાને આવ્યા છો શું? BSB BSB: Jesus asked the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw?
49 ULB હું દરરોજ તમારી પાસે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં બોધ કરતો હતો, ત્યારે તમે મને પકડ્યો નહિ; પણ શાસ્ત્રવચન પૂરાં થાય, માટે આમ થાય છે. BSB BSB: Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me. But this has happened that the Scriptures would be fulfilled.”
50 ULB બધા ઈસુને મૂકીને નાસી ગયા. BSB BSB: Then everyone deserted Him and fled.
51 ULB એક જુવાન જેણે પોતાના ઉઘાડા અંગ પર શણનું વસ્ત્ર ઓઢેલું હતું તે તેમની પાછળ આવતો હતો; અને તેઓએ તેને પકડ્યો; BSB BSB: One young man who had been following Jesus was wearing a linen cloth around his body. They caught hold of him,
52 ULB પણ તે વસ્ત્ર મૂકીને તે તેઓ પાસેથી ઉઘાડા શરીરે નાસી ગયો. BSB BSB: but he pulled free of the linen cloth and ran away naked.
53 ULB તેઓ ઈસુને પ્રમુખ યાજકની પાસે લઈ ગયા; અને સર્વ મુખ્ય યાજકો, વડીલો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓ તેમની સાથે ભેગા થયા. BSB BSB: They led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders, and scribes assembled.
54 ULB પિતર ઘણે દૂરથી તેમની પાછળ ચાલ્યો અને છેક પ્રમુખ યાજકના ચોકની અંદર આવ્યો; અને ચોકીદારોની સાથે બેસીને અંગારાની તાપણીમાં તે તાપતો હતો. BSB BSB: Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the officers and warmed himself by the fire.
55 ULB હવે મુખ્ય યાજકોએ તથા આખી ન્યાયસભાએ ઈસુને મારી નંખાવવા સારુ તેની વિરુદ્ધ સાક્ષી શોધી, પણ તે તેઓને જડી નહિ. BSB BSB: Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they did not find any.
56 ULB કેમ કે ઘણાંઓએ તેની વિરુદ્ધ જૂઠી સાક્ષી પૂરી; પણ તેઓની સાક્ષી મળતી આવતી નહોતી. BSB BSB: For many bore false witness against Jesus, but their testimony was inconsistent.
57 ULB કેટલાકે ઊભા રહીને તેમની વિરુદ્ધ જૂઠી સાક્ષી પૂરતાં કહ્યું કે, BSB BSB: Then some men stood up and testified falsely against Him:
58 ULB અમે તેને એમ કહેતાં સાંભળ્યો છે કે, ‘હાથે બનાવેલા આ મંદિરને હું પાડી નાખીશ અને ત્રણ દિવસમાં વગર હાથે બનાવેલું હોય એવું ભક્તિસ્થાન બાંધીશ.’” BSB BSB: “We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.’”
59 ULB આ વાતમાં પણ તેઓ સહમત ન હતા. BSB BSB: But even their testimony was inconsistent.
62 ULB ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘હું છું; તમે માણસના દીકરાને પરાક્રમનાં જમણા હાથ તરફ બેઠેલા તથા આકાશના વાદળાં પર આવતા જોશો. BSB BSB: “I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
63 ULB પ્રમુખ યાજકે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો ફાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘હવે આપણને બીજી સાક્ષીની શી જરૂર છે? BSB BSB: At this, the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “Why do we need any more witnesses?
64 ULB તમે આ દુર્ભાષણ સાંભળ્યું છે, તમને શું લાગે છે?’ બધાએ ઈસુને મૃત્યુદંડને યોગ્ય ઠરાવ્યાં. BSB BSB: You have heard the blasphemy. What is your verdict?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.
65 ULB કેટલાક તેમના પર થૂંકવા તથા તેમનું મોં ઢાંકવા લાગ્યા તથા તેમને મુક્કીઓ મારીને તેમને કહેવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘તું પ્રબોધક છે તો કહી બતાવ કે કોણે તને માર્યો? અને ચોકીદારોએ તેમને તમાચા મારીને તેમને સકંજામાં લીધા. BSB BSB: Then some of them began to spit on Him. They blindfolded Him, struck Him with their fists, and said to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in His face.
66 ULB હવે પિતર નીચે આંગણમાં હતો ત્યારે પ્રમુખ યાજકની એક સેવિકા આવી. BSB BSB: While Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came down
67 ULB અને પિતરને તાપતો જોઈને તે કહે છે કે, ‘તું પણ નાસરેથના ઈસુની સાથે હતો.’” BSB BSB: and saw him warming himself there. She looked at Peter and said, “You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.”
68 ULB પણ પિતરે ઇનકાર કરીને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું શું કહે છે, તે હું જાણતો નથી તેમ જ સમજતો પણ નથી.’” તે બહાર પરસાળમાં ગયો અને મરઘો બોલ્યો. BSB BSB: But he denied it. “I do not know or even understand what you are talking about,” he said. Then he went out to the gateway, and the rooster crowed.
69 ULB તે સેવિકા તેને જોઈને પાસે ઊભા રહેનારાઓને ફરીથી કહેવા લાગી કે, ‘એ તેઓમાંનો છે.’” BSB BSB: There the servant girl saw him and again said to those standing nearby, “This man is one of them.”
70 ULB પણ તેણે ફરી ઇનકાર કર્યો. થોડીવાર પછી ત્યાં ઊભેલાઓએ પિતરને કહ્યું કે, ‘ખરેખર તું તેઓમાંનો છે; કેમ કે તું ગાલીલનો છે.’” BSB BSB: But he denied it again. After a little while, those standing nearby said once more to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you too are a Galilean.”
71 ULB પણ પિતર શાપ દેવા તથા સમ ખાવા લાગ્યો કે, ‘જે માણસ વિષે તમે કહો છો, તેને હું ઓળખતો નથી.’” BSB BSB: But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak!”
72 ULB તરત મરઘો બીજી વાર બોલ્યો; અને ઈસુએ પિતરને જે વાત કહી હતી કે, મરઘો બે વાર બોલ્યા અગાઉ ત્રણ વાર તું મારો નકાર કરીશ, તે તેને યાદ આવ્યું; અને તે પર મન પર લાવીને તે ખૂબ રડ્યો. BSB BSB: And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
