2 ULB પિલાતે ઈસુને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘શું તું યહૂદીઓનો રાજા છે?’ તેમણે જવાબ આપતાં તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું કહે છે તે જ હું છું.’” BSB BSB: So Pilate questioned Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
3 ULB મુખ્ય યાજકોએ તેમના પર ઘણાં આક્ષેપો મૂક્યા. BSB BSB: And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things.
4 ULB પિલાતે ફરી તેમને પૂછતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘શું તું કંઈ જ જવાબ આપતો નથી? જો, તેઓ તારા પર કેટલા બધા આક્ષેપો મૂકે છે!’ BSB BSB: Then Pilate questioned Him again, “Have You no answer? Look how many charges they are bringing against You!”
5 ULB પણ ઈસુએ બીજો કોઈ જવાબ આપ્યો નહિ, જેથી પિલાતને આશ્ચર્ય થયું. BSB BSB: But to Pilate’s amazement, Jesus made no further reply.
6 ULB આ પર્વમાં જે એક બંદીવાનને લોકો માગે તેને તે છોડી દેતો હતો. BSB BSB: Now it was Pilate’s custom at the feast to release to the people a prisoner of their choosing.
7 ULB કેટલાક દંગો કરનારાઓએ હુલ્લડમાં ખૂન કર્યું હતું તેઓની સાથે કેદમાં પડેલો એવો બરાબાસ નામનો એક માણસ હતો. BSB BSB: And a man named Barabbas was imprisoned with the rebels who had committed murder during the insurrection.
8 ULB લોકો ઉપર ચઢીને પિલાતને વિનંતી કરવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘જેમ તમે અમારે સારુ દર વખતે કરતા હતા તે પ્રમાણે કરો.’” BSB BSB: So the crowd went up and began asking Pilate to keep his custom.
9 ULB પિલાતે તેઓને જવાબ આપતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘શું તમારી મરજી એવી છે કે, હું તમારે સારુ યહૂદીઓના રાજાને મુક્ત કરું?’” BSB BSB: “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” Pilate asked.
10 ULB કેમ કે તે જાણતો હતો કે મુખ્ય યાજકોએ અદેખાઈને લીધે તેમને સોંપી દીધાં હતા. BSB BSB: For he knew it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over.
11 ULB પણ મુખ્ય યાજકોએ લોકોને ઉશ્કેર્યા, એ સારુ કે ઈસુને બદલે તે તેઓને માટે બરાબાસને મુક્ત કરે. BSB BSB: But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas to them instead.
12 ULB પણ પિલાતે ફરી તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જેને તમે યહૂદીઓનો રાજા કહો છો, તેનું હું શું કરું?’” BSB BSB: So Pilate asked them again, “What then do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews?”
13 ULB તેઓએ ફરી બૂમ પાડી કે, ‘તેને વધસ્તંભે જડાવો.’” BSB BSB: And they shouted back, “Crucify Him!”
14 ULB પિલાતે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘શા માટે? તેણે શું ખરાબ કર્યું છે?’ પણ તેઓએ વધારે ઊંચા અવાજે કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈસુને વધસ્તંભે જડાવો.’” BSB BSB: “Why?” asked Pilate. “What evil has He done?” But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify Him!”
15 ULB ત્યારે પિલાતે લોકોને રાજી કરવા તેઓને સારુ બરાબાસને જતો કર્યો. અને ઈસુને કોરડા મરાવીને વધસ્તંભે જડવા સારુ સોંપ્યાં. BSB BSB: And wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified.
16 ULB સિપાઈઓ ઈસુને પ્રૈતોર્યુમ નામે કચેરીમાં લઈ ગયા; અને તેઓએ ચોકીદારોની આખી ટુકડીને બોલાવ્યા. BSB BSB: Then the soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called the whole company together.
17 ULB તેઓએ તેમને જાંબુડિયો ઝભ્ભો પહેરાવ્યો અને કાંટાનો મુગટ ગૂંથીને તેમના માથા પર મૂક્યો; BSB BSB: They dressed Him in a purple robe, twisted together a crown of thorns, and set it on His head.
18 ULB અને ‘હે યહૂદીઓના રાજા, સલામ!’ એમ કહીને મશ્કરીમાં તેમને નમસ્કાર કરવા લાગ્યા. BSB BSB: And they began to salute Him: “Hail, King of the Jews!”
19 ULB તેઓએ તેમના માથામાં સોટી મારી, ઈસુના પર થૂંક્યાં અને ઘૂંટણ ટેકીને તેમની આગળ નમ્યાં. BSB BSB: They kept striking His head with a staff and spitting on Him. And they knelt down and bowed before Him.
20 ULB તેમની મશ્કરી કરી રહ્યા પછી તેઓએ તેમના અંગ પરથી જાંબુડિયો ઝભ્ભો ઉતારી લીધો અને તેમના પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો તેમને પહેરાવ્યાં; પછી વધસ્તંભે જડવા સારુ તેમને લઈ જવામાં આવ્યા. BSB BSB: After they had mocked Him, they removed the purple robe and put His own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him out to crucify Him.
21 ULB સિમોન નામે કુરેનીનો એક માણસ જે આલેકસાંદરનો તથા રૂફસનો પિતા હતો, તે ખેતરથી આવતાં ત્યાં થઈને જતો હતો. તેની પાસે સિપાઈઓએ બળજબરીથી ઈસુનો વધસ્તંભ ઊંચકાવ્યો. BSB BSB: Now Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and the soldiers forced him to carry the cross of Jesus.
22 ULB ગલગથા નામની જગ્યા, જેનો અર્થ ‘ખોપરીની જગ્યા’ છે, ત્યાં તેઓ તેમને લાવ્યા. BSB BSB: They brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha, which means The Place of the Skull.
23 ULB તેઓએ બોળ મિશ્રિત દ્રાક્ષારસ તેમને આપ્યો; પણ ઈસુએ તે પીવાની ના પાડી. BSB BSB: There they offered Him wine mixed with myrrh, but He did not take it.
25 ULB સવારમાં લગભગ નવ વાગ્યે તેઓએ ઈસુને વધસ્તંભે જડ્યાં. BSB BSB: It was the third hour when they crucified Him.
26 ULB તેના ઉપર ઈસુનું એવું તહોમતનામું લખ્યું હતું કે “યહૂદીઓનો રાજા.” BSB BSB: And the charge inscribed against Him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27 ULB ઈસુની સાથે તેઓએ બે ચોરોને વધસ્તંભે જડ્યાં, એકને તેમની જમણી તરફ અને બીજાને ડાબી તરફ. BSB BSB: Along with Jesus, they crucified two robbers, one on His right and one on His left.
28 ULB “તે અપરાધીઓમાં ગણાયો,” એવું જે શાસ્ત્રવચન હતું તે પૂરું થયું. BSB BSB: Not in the BSB
29 ULB પાસે થઈને જનારાંઓએ ઈસુનું અપમાન કર્યું તથા માથાં હલાવતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘વાહ રે! મંદિરને પાડી નાખનાર તથા તેને ત્રણ દિવસમાં બાંધનાર, BSB BSB: And those who passed by heaped abuse on Him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,
30 ULB તું પોતાને બચાવ અને વધસ્તંભ પરથી ઊતરી આવ.’” BSB BSB: come down from the cross and save Yourself!”
31 ULB એ જ પ્રમાણે મુખ્ય યાજકોએ અંદરોઅંદર શાસ્ત્રીઓ સહિત મશ્કરી કરીને કહ્યું કે, ‘તેણે બીજાઓને બચાવ્યા, પણ પોતાને બચાવી શકતો નથી. BSB BSB: In the same way, the chief priests and scribes mocked Him among themselves, saying, “He saved others, but He cannot save Himself!
32 ULB ઇઝરાયલના રાજા, ખ્રિસ્ત, હમણાં જ વધસ્તંભ પરથી ઊતરી આવ, કે અમે જોઈને વિશ્વાસ કરીએ.’” વળી જેઓ ઈસુની સાથે વધસ્તંભે જડાયેલા હતા તેઓએ પણ તેમની નિંદા કરી. BSB BSB: Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” And even those who were crucified with Him berated Him.
34 ULB બપોરે લગભગ ત્રણ વાગ્યે ઈસુએ મોટે ઘાંટે બૂમ પાડી કે, ‘એલોઈ, એલોઈ લમા શબક્થની, એટલે, મારા ઈશ્વર, મારા ઈશ્વર, તમે મને કેમ મૂકી દીધો છે?’” BSB BSB: At the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 35 ULB જેઓ પાસે ઊભા રહેલા હતા તેઓમાંના કેટલાકે તે સાંભળીને કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, તે એલિયાને બોલાવે છે.’” BSB BSB: When some of those standing nearby heard this, they said, “Behold, He is calling Elijah.”
36 ULB એક માણસે દોડીને સિરકામાં પલાળેલી વાદળી લાકડાની ટોચે બાંધીને તેમને ચૂસવા આપીને કહ્યું કે, ‘રહેવા દો, આપણે જોઈએ કે, એલિયા તેને ઉતારવાને આવે છે કે નહિ?’” BSB BSB: And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine. He put it on a reed and held it up for Jesus to drink, saying, “Leave Him alone. Let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.”
38 ULB મંદિરનો પડદો ઉપરથી નીચે સુધી ફાટીને તેના બે ભાગ થયા. BSB BSB: And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
39 ULB જે સૂબેદાર તેમની સામે ઊભો હતો, તેણે જયારે જોયું કે તેમણે આવી રીતે પ્રાણ છોડ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘ખરેખર આ માણસ ઈશ્વરના દીકરા હતા.’” BSB BSB: When the centurion standing there in front of Jesus saw how He had breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
40 ULB કેટલીક સ્ત્રીઓ પણ દૂરથી જોતી હતી; તેઓમાં મગ્દલાની મરિયમ, નાના યાકૂબ તથા યોસેની મા મરિયમ અને શાલોમી હતી. BSB BSB: And there were also women watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.
41 ULB જયારે ઈસુ ગાલીલમાં હતા ત્યારે તેઓ તેમની પાછળ ચાલીને તેમની સેવા કરતી હતી; અને તેમની સાથે યરુશાલેમમાં આવેલી બીજી પણ ઘણી સ્ત્રીઓ ત્યાં હતી. BSB BSB: These women had followed Jesus and ministered to Him while He was in Galilee, and there were many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him.
42 ULB સાંજ પડી ત્યારે સિદ્ધીકરણનો દિવસ, એટલે વિશ્રામવારની આગળનો દિવસ હતો, માટે, BSB BSB: Now it was already evening. Since it was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath),
43 ULB ન્યાયસભાનો એક માનવંતો સભાસદ, એટલે અરિમથાઈનો યૂસફ આવ્યો. તે પોતે પણ ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યની વાટ જોતો હતો; તેણે હિંમત રાખીને પિલાતની પાસે જઈને ઈસુનો દેહ માગ્યો. BSB BSB: Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent Council member who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God, boldly went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.
45 ULB સૂબેદાર પાસેથી તે વિષે ખબર મળી ત્યારે પિલાતે યૂસફને એ દેહ અપાવ્યો. BSB BSB: When Pilate had confirmed it with the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
47 ULB તેમને ક્યાં મૂક્યા એ મગ્દલાની મરિયમ તથા યોસેની મા મરિયમે જોયું. BSB BSB: Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where His body was placed.
