Proverbs 1 (ULB)

1ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા, જે દાઉદનો પુત્ર હતો, તે સુલેમાનનાં નીતિવચનો.These are the proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel,

2ડહાપણ તથા શિક્ષણ સંપાદન થાય, ડહાપણની વાતો સમજવામાં આવે,for gaining wisdom and discipline, for comprehending words of insight,

3ડહાપણભરેલી વર્તણૂકની, નેકીની, ન્યાયીપણાની અને ઇનસાફની કેળવણી મળે.and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity.

4ભોળા માણસને ચતુરાઈ મળે અને જુવાનોને ડહાપણ તથા વિવેકબુદ્ધિ મળે.To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,

5જ્ઞાની પુરુષ સાંભળીને વિદ્ધત્તાની વૃદ્ધિ કરે અને બુદ્ધિમાન માણસને માર્ગદર્શન મળે.let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel

6કહેવતો તથા અલંકારો; જ્ઞાનીઓનાં વચનો તથા તેઓના મર્મો સમજાય.by understanding the proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

7યહોવાહનો ભય એ ડહાપણનો આરંભ છે. મૂર્ખો ડહાપણને તથા શિક્ષણને ધિક્કારે છે.The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

8મારા દીકરા, તારા પિતાની શિખામણ સાંભળ અને તારી માતાનું શિક્ષણ તજીશ નહિ.Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother.

9તેઓ તારા મસ્તકે શોભાયમાન મુગટરૂપ અને તારા ગળાના હારરૂપ થશે.For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck.

10મારા દીકરા, જો પાપીઓ તને લલચાવે, તો તું તેઓનું માનતો નહિ.My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them.

11જો તેઓ કહે કે, "અમારી સાથે ચાલ, આપણે ખૂન કરવા માટે સંતાઈ રહીએ; આપણે નિર્દોષને વિનાકારણ હુમલો કરવાને છુપાઈ રહીએ.If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,

12શેઓલની જેમ આપણે તેઓને જીવતા અને જીવતા ગળી જઈએ, જાણે કે તેઓ કબરમાં ગરક થઈ ગયા હોય.let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those descending into the Pit.

13વિવિધ પ્રકારનો કિંમતી માલ આપણા હાથમાં આવશે; આપણે લૂંટથી આપણાં ઘરો ભરીશું.We will find all manner of precious goods; we will fill our houses with plunder.

14તું અમારી સાથે જોડાઈ જા આપણે બધા સિલકની સહિયારી થેલી રાખીશું."Throw in your lot with us; let us all share one purse”—

15મારા દીકરા, તેઓના માર્ગમાં તેઓની સાથે ન ચાલ; તેઓના માર્ગેથી તારા પગ પાછા રાખ;my son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path.

16તેઓના પગ દુષ્ટતા કરવા માટે દોડે છે અને તેઓ લોહી વહેવડાવવા માટે ઉતાવળ કરે છે.For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood.

17કારણ કે જ્યારે પક્ષીઓ સાવધ હોય ત્યારે જાળ પાથરવી તે નિરર્થક છે.How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it!

18આ માણસો પોતાને જ મારી નાખવાને માટે સંતાઈ રહે છે, તેઓ પોતાના જ જીવને માટે ગુપ્ત રીતે છુપાઈ રહે છે.But they lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives.

19ધનના પ્રત્યેક લોભીના માર્ગો આવા જ હોય છે. આવું ધન તેના માલિકોનું જ સત્યાનાશ વાળે છે.Such is the fate of all who are greedy, whose unjust gain takes the lives of its possessors.

20ડહાપણ શેરીએ શેરીએ મોટેથી પોકારે છે, તે જાહેર સ્થળોમાં પોતાની વાણી ઉચ્ચારે છે.Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square;

21તે ઘોંઘાટવાળા રસ્તા પર બૂમો પાડે છે અને શહેરના દરવાજે ઊભું રહીને વચનો ઉચ્ચારે છે,in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech:

22"હે અજ્ઞાનીઓ, તમે ક્યાં સુધી ભોળપણને વળગી રહેશો? ઓ ઠઠ્ઠા-મશ્કરી કરનારાઓ, તમે ક્યાં સુધી ઠઠ્ઠા-મશ્કરી કરવામાં આનંદ મેળવશો? અને ઓ મૂર્ખાઓ, તમે ક્યાં સુધી ડહાપણને ધિક્કારશો?“How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?

23મારી ચેતવણી પર ધ્યાન આપો; હું મારો આત્મા તમારા પર રેડીશ; હું મારાં વચનો તમને જણાવીશ.If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.

24મેં બોલાવ્યા અને તમે ઇનકાર કર્યો; મેં મારો હાથ લાંબો કર્યો છે, પણ કોઈએ તેની દરકાર કરી નહિ.Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,

25પણ તમે મારી સર્વ શિખામણને તુચ્છ ગણી અને મારા ઠપકાને પણ ગણકારતા નથી.because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,

26માટે તમારા પર મુશ્કેલીઓ આવશે ત્યારે હું હાસ્ય કરીશ, જ્યારે તમારા પર ભય આવશે ત્યારે હું તમારી મશ્કરી કરીશ.in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,

27એટલે જ્યારે તોફાનની જેમ તમારા પર ભય આવી પડશે અને વંટોળિયાની જેમ તમારા પર વિપત્તિઓ ધસી આવશે; જ્યારે સંકટ તથા વેદના તમારા પર આવશે, ત્યારે હું તમારી મશ્કરી કરીશ.when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.

28ત્યારે તેઓ મને પોકાર કરશે પણ હું ઉત્તર આપીશ નહિ; તેઓ ખંતથી મને શોધશે, પણ હું તેઓને મળીશ નહિ.Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.

29કેમ કે તેઓએ વિદ્યાનો ધિક્કાર કર્યો છે અને તેઓએ યહોવાહનો ભય રાખવાનું ઇચ્છ્યું નહિ.For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.

30તેઓએ મારી સલાહ બિલકુલ માની નહિ અને તેઓએ મારો બધો ઠપકો તુચ્છ ગણ્યો.They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.

31તેઓ પોતાના માર્ગનું ફળ ભોગવશે અને પોતાની કુયુક્તિઓની પૂરેપૂરી શિક્ષા ભોગવશે.So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32અબુદ્ધો પાછા હઠી જાય તે બાબત તેઓનો સંહાર કરશે; અને મૂર્ખોની બેદરકારી તેઓનો વિનાશ કરશે.For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.

33પણ જે કોઈ મારું કહ્યું સાંભળશે તે સુરક્ષિત રહેશે અને નુકસાન થવાના ભય વગર શાંતિમાં રહેશે."But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”
