1 ULB દ્રાક્ષારસ હાંસી ઊડાવનાર છે અને દારૂ દંગો મચાવે છે; જે કોઈ પીવાની ભૂલ કરે છે તે જ્ઞાની નથી. BSB BSB: Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2 ULB રાજાની ધમકી સિંહની ગર્જના જેવી છે; તેને કોપાવનાર પોતાના જ જીવની વિરુદ્ધ અપરાધ કરે છે. BSB BSB: The terror of a king is like the roar of a lion; whoever provokes him forfeits his own life.
3 ULB ઝઘડાથી દૂર રહેવું એ માણસને માટે શોભાસ્પદ છે, પણ દરેક મૂર્ખ ઝઘડો કરવા માટે ઊતાવળો હોય છે. BSB BSB: It is honorable for a man to resolve a dispute, but any fool will quarrel.
4 ULB આળસુ માણસ શિયાળાનું બહાનું કાઢીને ખેડતો નથી, તેથી કાપણી વખતે પાક લેવા જાય છે, ત્યારે તેને કશું મળતું નથી. BSB BSB: The slacker does not plow in season; at harvest time he looks, but nothing is there.
5 ULB અક્કલ માણસના મનમાં ઊંડા પાણી જેવી છે; પણ સમજણો માણસ તેને બહાર કાઢી લાવશે. BSB BSB: The intentions of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
6 ULB ઘણા લોકો પોતપોતાનો કરેલો ઉપકાર કહી બતાવશે, પણ જેના પર વિશ્વાસ રાખી શકાય એવો માણસ ક્યાં મળે? BSB BSB: Many a man proclaims his loving devotion, but who can find a trustworthy man?
7 ULB ન્યાયી માણસ પોતાના પ્રામાણિક માર્ગમાં ચાલે છે અને તેના પછી તેને અનુસરનારા તેનાં બાળકો આશીર્વાદિત છે. BSB BSB: The righteous man walks with integrity; blessed are his children after him.
8 ULB ન્યાયાસન પર બિરાજેલો રાજા પોતાનું કામ જાહેર કરે છે પોતાની આંખથી બધી દુષ્ટતાને વિખેરી નાખે છે. BSB BSB: A king who sits on a throne to judge sifts out all evil with his eyes.
9 ULB કોણ કહી શકે કે, "મેં મારું અંત:કરણ શુદ્ધ કર્યું છે, હું પાપથી મુક્ત થયો છું?" BSB BSB: Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am cleansed from my sin”?
10 ULB જેઓ જુદાં જુદાં વજનિયાં અને માપિયાં રાખે છે, યહોવાહ તે બન્નેને ધિક્કારે છે. BSB BSB: Differing weights and unequal measures—both are detestable to the LORD.
11 ULB વળી છોકરાં પણ પોતાનાં આચરણથી ઓળખાય છે કે, તેઓનાં કાર્યો શુદ્ધ અને સાચાં છે કે કેમ? BSB BSB: Even a young man is known by his actions—whether his conduct is pure and upright.
12 ULB કાન કે જે સાંભળે છે અને આંખ કે જે જોઈ શકે છે તે બન્નેને યહોવાહે બનાવ્યાં છે. BSB BSB: Ears that hear and eyes that see—the LORD has made them both.
13 ULB ઊંઘ સાથે પ્રીત કરીશ નહિ, રખેને તું દરિદ્રાવસ્થામાં આવી પડે; તારી આંખો ઉઘાડ એટલે તું અન્નથી તૃપ્ત થશે. BSB BSB: Do not love sleep, or you will grow poor; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of food.
14 ULB "આ તો નકામું છે! નકામું છે!" એવું ખરીદનાર કહે છે, પણ તે ત્યાંથી ગયા પછી બડાઈ મારે છે. BSB BSB: “Worthless, worthless!” says the buyer, but on the way out, he gloats.
15 ULB પુષ્કળ સોનું પુષ્કળ માણેકમોતી કરતાં જ્ઞાની હોવું વધારે કિંમતી જેવું છે. BSB BSB: There is an abundance of gold and rubies, but lips of knowledge are a rare treasure.
16 ULB અજાણ્યાના જામીન થનારનાં વસ્ત્રો લઈ લે, પારકાનો જામીન થનારને જવાબદાર ગણ. BSB BSB: Take the garment of the one who posts security for a stranger; get collateral if it is for a foreigner.
17 ULB અસત્યની રોટલી માણસને મીઠી લાગે છે પણ પાછળથી તેનું મોં કાંકરાથી ભરાઈ જાય છે. BSB BSB: Food gained by fraud is sweet to a man, but later his mouth is full of gravel.
18 ULB દરેક યોજના સલાહથી પરિપૂર્ણ થયેલી છે માટે ચતુરની સૂચના પ્રમાણે તારે યુદ્ધ કરવું. BSB BSB: Set plans by consultation, and wage war under sound guidance.
19 ULB જે કૂથલી કરવા માટે અહીંતહીં ભટકે છે તે ગુપ્ત વાતો પ્રગટ કરે છે માટે એવા માણસના કામમાં હાથ નાખતો નહિ. BSB BSB: He who reveals secrets is a constant gossip; avoid the one who babbles with his lips.
20 ULB જો કોઈ વ્યક્તિ પોતાનાં માતા કે પિતાને શાપ આપે છે, તો તેનો દીવો ઘોર અંધકારમાં હોલવી નાખવામાં આવશે. BSB BSB: Whoever curses his father or mother, his lamp will be extinguished in deepest darkness.
21 ULB જે વારસો જલદીથી સંપાદન કરવામાં આવે છે તેનો અંત આશીર્વાદિત થશે નહિ. BSB BSB: An inheritance gained quickly will not be blessed in the end.
22 ULB "હું દુષ્ટતાનો બદલો લઈશ!" એવું તારે ન કહેવું જોઈએ; યહોવાહની રાહ જો અને તે તને ઉગારી લેશે. BSB BSB: Do not say, “I will avenge this evil!” Wait on the LORD, and He will save you.
23 ULB જુદાં જુદાં વજનિયાંને યહોવાહ ધિક્કારે છે અને ખોટું ત્રાજવું રાખવું એ સારું નથી. BSB BSB: Unequal weights are detestable to the LORD, and dishonest scales are no good.
24 ULB યહોવાહ માણસના પગલાંને દોરે છે, તો પછી માણસ કેવી રીતે પોતાનો માર્ગ સમજી શકે? BSB BSB: A man’s steps are from the LORD, so how can anyone understand his own way?
25 ULB વગર વિચારે એમ કહી દેવું કે, "આ વસ્તુઓ પવિત્ર છે," અને માનતા માન્યા પછી તેના વિષે તપાસ કરવી એ માણસને ફાંદારૂપ છે. BSB BSB: It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly, only later to reconsider his vows.
26 ULB જ્ઞાની રાજા દુષ્ટોને વિખેરી નાખે છે અને તેઓને કચડી નાખે છે. BSB BSB: A wise king separates out the wicked and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 ULB માણસનો આત્મા યહોવાહનો દીવો છે, તે હૃદયના અંતરના ભાગોને તપાસે છે. BSB BSB: The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching out his inmost being.
28 ULB કૃપા અને સત્ય રાજાનું રક્ષણ કરે છે, તેનું રાજ્યાસન વફાદારી પર ટકેલું છે. BSB BSB: Loving devotion and faithfulness preserve a king; by these he maintains his throne.
29 ULB યુવાનોનું ગૌરવ તેઓનું બળ છે અને વૃદ્ધ પુરુષોની શોભા માથાનાં પાળિયાં છે. BSB BSB: The glory of young men is their strength, and gray hair is the splendor of the old.
30 ULB ચાબખા અને ઘા દુષ્ટતાને ભૂંસી નાખે છે અને ફટકા હૃદયના અંતરના ઊંડાણ સુધી પહોંચે છે. BSB BSB: Lashes and wounds scour evil, and beatings cleanse the inmost parts.
