Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
3 HGLT परन्तु जो भविष्यद्वाणी करता है, वह मनुष्यों से उन्नति और हियाव और ढाँढ़स की बातें करता है। BSB BSB: But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort.
4 HGLT जो अन्य भाषा में बोलता है, वह स्वयं की उन्नति करता है, परन्तु जो भविष्यद्वाणी करता है, वह कलीसिया की उन्नति करता है। BSB BSB: The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.

He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.

BSB BSB: Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?

BSB BSB: Even in the case of lifeless instruments, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone recognize the tune they are playing unless the notes are distinct?

10 HGLT निःसन्देह संसार में कई प्रकार की भाषाएँ हैं, और कोई भी बिना अर्थ के नहीं{ है}। BSB BSB: Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
11 HGLT तब यदि मैं किसी भाषा का अर्थ न जानूँ, तो मैं बोलने वाले के लिए परदेशी ठहरूँगा और बोलने वाला मेरे लिए परदेशी{ ठहरेगा}। BSB BSB: If, then, I do not know the meaning of someone’s language, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me.
12 HGLT वैसे ही तुम भी, जब कि तुम कलीसिया की उन्नति के लिए आत्मिक वरदानों की धुन में हो, तो प्रयत्न करो कि तुम उनमें बहुतायत से पाए जाओ। BSB BSB: It is the same with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, strive to excel in gifts that build up the church.
13 HGLT इसलिए जो अन्य भाषा में बोले वह प्रार्थना करे कि वह अनुवाद भी करे। BSB BSB: Therefore, the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
14 HGLT यदि मैं अन्य भाषा में प्रार्थना करूँ, तो मेरी आत्मा तो प्रार्थना करती है, परन्तु मेरा मन निष्फल रहता है। BSB BSB: For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
15 HGLT तो फिर क्या करें? मैं{ अपनी} आत्मा से प्रार्थना करूँगा, परन्तु मैं{ अपने} मन से भी प्रार्थना करूँगा। मैं{ अपनी} आत्मा से गाऊँगा, और मैं{ अपने} मन से भी गाऊँगा। BSB BSB: What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
16 HGLT नहीं तो, यदि तू आत्मा से ही धन्यवाद करे, तो जो अज्ञानी के स्थान को भरने वाला व्यक्ति है, वह तेरे धन्यवाद पर“आमीन” कैसे कहेगा, क्योंकि वह तो नहीं जानता कि तू क्या कह रहा है? BSB BSB: Otherwise, if you speak a blessing in spirit, how can someone who is uninstructed say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?
17 HGLT क्योंकि निश्चित रूप से तू तो अच्छे से धन्यवाद करता है, परन्तु दूसरे व्यक्ति की उन्नति नहीं होती। BSB BSB: You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other one is not edified.
18 HGLT मैं परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि मैं तुम सब से अधिक अन्य भाषा में बोलता हूँ; BSB BSB: I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.
19 HGLT परन्तु कलीसिया में अन्य भाषा में असंख्य शब्द बोलने की तुलना में मैं अपने मन से पाँच शब्द बोलना अधिक पसन्द करता हूँ, ताकि मैं दूसरों को भी निर्देश दे सकूँ। BSB BSB: But in the church, I would rather speak five coherent words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
20 HGLT हे भाइयों,{ अपने} विचारों में बालक मत बनो। बल्कि बुराई में बालकों के समान बनो, परन्तु विचारों में सयाने बनो। BSB BSB: Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.
21 HGLT व्यवस्था में यह लिखा है, कि प्रभु कहता है,“अन्य भाषा बोलने वालों के द्वारा और अजनबियों के होठों से मैं इन लोगों से बात करूँगा, परन्तु इस रीति से भी वे मेरी नहीं सुनेंगे”। BSB BSB: It is written in the Law: “By strange tongues and foreign lips I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to Me, says the Lord.”
22 HGLT इसलिए अन्य भाषाएँ विश्वास करने वालों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अविश्वासियों के लिए चिन्ह हैं; परन्तु भविष्यद्वाणी अविश्वासियों के लिये नहीं, परन्तु उनके लिए चिन्ह है जो विश्वास करते हैं। BSB BSB: Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.
23 HGLT इसलिए यदि सम्पूर्ण कलीसिया एक ही स्थान पर इकट्ठी हो जाए, और वे सब अन्य भाषा में बातें करें, परन्तु अज्ञानी या अविश्वासी भीतर आ जाएँ, तो क्या वे ऐसा न कहेंगे कि तुम पागल हो? BSB BSB: So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who are uninstructed or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?
24 HGLT परन्तु यदि वे सब भविष्यद्वाणी करें, और कोई अविश्वासी या अज्ञानी व्यक्ति भीतर आ जाए, तो सब के द्वारा उसे दोषी ठहरा दिया जाएगा, और सब के द्वारा उसकी परीक्षा होगी, BSB BSB: But if an unbeliever or uninstructed person comes in while everyone is prophesying, he will be convicted and called to account by all,
25 HGLT और उसके हृदय के भेद प्रकट हो जाएँगे, और तब,{ अपने} मुँह के बल गिरकर, वह यह घोषणा करते हुए, परमेश्वर की आराधना करेगा,“सचमुच परमेश्वर तुम्हारे बीच में है।” BSB BSB: and the secrets of his heart will be made known. When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.
27 HGLT यदि कोई जन अन्य भाषा में बोलता है, तो{ ऐसा हो कि} दो या अधिक से अधिक तीन जन बारी- बारी से बोलें, और एक व्यक्ति अनुवाद करे। BSB BSB: If anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone must interpret.
28 HGLT परन्तु यदि वहाँ कोई अनुवाद करने वाला न हो, तो अन्य भाषा बोलने वाला कलीसिया में चुप रहे। बजाए इसके, वह स्वयं से और परमेश्वर से बात करे। BSB BSB: But if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God.
29 HGLT परन्तु दो या तीन भविष्यद्वक्ता बोलें, और दूसरे लोग मूल्यांकन करें। BSB BSB: Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.
30 HGLT परन्तु यदि वहाँ बैठे दूसरे लोगों पर कुछ प्रकट हो, तो पहला व्यक्ति चुप हो जाए। BSB BSB: And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, the first speaker should stop.
31 HGLT क्योंकि सभी एक- एक करके भविष्यवाणी कर सकते हैं ताकि सभी सीख सकें, और सभी प्रोत्साहित हो सकें। BSB BSB: For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
32 HGLT वास्तव में, भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की आत्माएँ भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के अधीन रहती हैं। BSB BSB: The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.
33 HGLT क्योंकि परमेश्वर भ्रम का नहीं, परन्तु शान्ति का परमेश्वर है। जैसा कि पवित्र लोगों की सब कलीसियाओं में होता है, BSB BSB: For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace—as in all the churches of the saints.
35 HGLT परन्तु यदि वे कुछ सीखना चाहें, तो घर में{ अपने} पति से पूछें, क्योंकि स्त्री का कलीसिया में बोलना लज्जा की बात है। BSB BSB: If they wish to inquire about something, they are to ask their own husbands at home; for it is dishonorable for a woman to speak in the church.
36 HGLT क्या परमेश्वर का वचन तुम में से निकल गया? या यह केवल तुम्हारे ही पास आया था? BSB BSB: Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only ones it has reached?
37 HGLT यदि कोई अपने आप को भविष्यद्वक्ता या आत्मिक जन समझता है, तो वह स्वीकार करे कि जो कुछ मैं तुम्हें लिखता हूँ वह प्रभु का आदेश है। BSB BSB: If anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, let him acknowledge that what I am writing you is the Lord’s command.
38 HGLT परन्तु यदि कोई अज्ञानी हो, तो वह अज्ञानी ही रहे। BSB BSB: But if anyone ignores this, he himself will be ignored.
39 HGLT इसलिए हे भाइयों, उत्सुकतापूर्वक भविष्यद्वाणी करने की इच्छा करो, और अन्य भाषा बोलने से मना न करो। BSB BSB: So, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.
40 HGLT परन्तु सब बातें ठीक रीति से और क्रमानुसार की जाएँ। BSB BSB: But everything must be done in a proper and orderly manner.
