1फिर यीशु, पवित्र आत्मा से भरा हुआ, यरदन से लौट आया, और आत्मा की अगुवाई से जंगल में फिरता रहा,Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2क्योंकि 40 दिनों तक शैतान के द्वारा परीक्षा हुई थी। और उन दिनों में उसने कुछ भी नहीं खाया, और जब वे दिन पूरे हुए तो वह भूखा था।where for forty days He was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry.

3तब शैतान ने उससे कहा,“यदि तू परमेश्वर का पुत्र है, तो इस पत्थर से कह कि रोटी बन जाए।”The devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

4और यीशु ने उसे उत्तर दिया,“ऐसा लिखा हुआ है,‘मनुष्य केवल रोटी से ही जीवित नहीं रहेगा।’”But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”

5तब वह उसे लेकर गया और उसे क्षणभर में ही संसार के सारे राज्य दिखाए।Then the devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.

6और शैतान ने उससे कहा,“मैं तुझे यह सब अधिकार और इनकी महिमा दे दूँगा, क्योंकि यह मुझे सौंपा गया है, और जिस किसी को भी मैं चाहूँ उसे इसे दे सकता हूँ।“I will give You authority over all these kingdoms and all their glory,” he said. “For it has been relinquished to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish.

7इसलिए अब, यदि तू मेरे सम्मुख दण्डवत करने के लिए झुकेगा, तो यह सब तेरा हो जाएगा।”So if You worship me, it will all be Yours.”

8परन्तु उत्तर देते हुए, यीशु ने उससे कहा,“ऐसा लिखा हुआ है,‘तू प्रभु अपने परमेश्वर को दण्डवत करेगा, और तू केवल उसी की सेवा करेगा।’”But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”

9तब वह उसे यरूशलेम में लेकर गया और उसे मन्दिर की सबसे ऊँची चोटी पर खड़ा कर दिया, और उससे कहा,“यदि तू परमेश्वर का पुत्र है, तो अपने आपको यहाँ से नीचे गिरा दे।Then the devil led Him to Jerusalem and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple. “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down from here.

10क्योंकि ऐसा लिखा हुआ है,‘वह तेरे विषय में अपने स्वर्गदूतों को, तेरी रक्षा करने के लिए आदेश देगा,’For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You to guard You carefully,

11और‘वे तुझे अपने हाथों में उठा लेंगे, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि तू अपने पाँव को किसी पत्थर में मार ले।’”and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

12परन्तु उत्तर देते हुए, यीशु ने उससे कहा,“यह भी कहा गया है,‘तू प्रभु अपने परमेश्वर को परीक्षा में नहीं डालेगा।’”But Jesus answered, “It also says, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

13और जब उसने हर एक परीक्षा को समाप्त कर लिया, तो शैतान एक उपयुक्त समय के लिये उसके पास से चला गया।When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.

14और यीशु आत्मा की सामर्थ्य में गलील को लौट आया, और उसके विषय में चारों ओर के सम्पूर्ण प्रदेश में समाचार फैल गया।Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and the news about Him spread throughout the surrounding region.

15और उसने उनके आराधनालयों में शिक्षा देना आरम्भ कर दिया, और सब लोगों के द्वारा उसकी प्रशंसा की जा रही थी।He taught in their synagogues and was glorified by everyone.

16और वह नासरत में आया, जहाँ उसका पालन- पोषण हुआ था, और अपनी रीति के अनुसार, उसने सब्त के दिन आराधनालय में प्रवेश किया, और वह ऊँचे स्वर में पढ़ने के लिये खड़ा हो गया।Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath. And when He stood up to read,

17और यशायाह भविष्यद्वक्ता की पुस्तक उसे दी गई और, पुस्तक को खोलने पर, उसने वह जगह निकाली जहाँ पर यह लिखा था,the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:

18“प्रभु का आत्मा मुझ पर है, क्योंकि उसने कंगालों को सुसमाचार सुनाने के लिये मेरा अभिषेक किया है। उसने मुझे इसलिए भेजा है कि बन्दियों पर छुटकारे की और अंधों को दृष्टि पाने की घोषणा करूँ, और जो कुचले हुए हैं उनको छुड़ाऊँ,“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,

19और प्रभु के हितकारी वर्ष की घोषणा करूँ।”to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

20और पुस्तक को लपेटकर और उसे परिचारक को वापस देकर, वह बैठ गया। और आराधनालय के सब लोगों की आँखें उस पर लगी हुई थीं।Then He rolled up the scroll, returned it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on Him,

21तब उसने उनसे कहना आरम्भ किया,“आज ही यह लेख तुम्हारे सुनते- सुनते पूरा हुआ है।”and He began by saying, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

22और सभी लोगों ने उसके लिए भली बातों को बोला और जो अनुग्रह की बातें उसके मुँह से निकलती थीं वे उन पर अचम्भित थे, और उन्होंने कहा,“क्या यह वही यूसुफ का पुत्र नहीं है?”All spoke well of Him and marveled at the gracious words that came from His lips. “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?” they asked.

23और उसने उनसे कहा,“तुम मुझ पर यह कहावत अवश्य ही कहोगे,‘हे वैद्य, अपने आप को चंगा कर। जो कुछ भी हम ने सुना है कि कफरनहूम में हुआ था, उसे यहाँ अपने नगर में भी कर।’”Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! Do here in Your hometown what we have heard that You did in Capernaum.’”

24परन्तु उसने कहा,“मैं तुम से सच कहता हूँ कि किसी भी भविष्यद्वक्ता को उसके नगर में स्वीकार नहीं किया गया है।Then He added, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.

25परन्तु मैं तुम से बिलकुल सच कहता हूँ कि एलिय्याह के दिनों में इस्राएल में बहुत सी विधवाएँ थीं, जिस समय में तीन वर्ष और छः महीनों तक आकाश बन्द था, जब सारे देश में बड़ा अकाल पड़ा था।But I tell you truthfully that there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and great famine swept over all the land.

26परन्तु एलिय्याह को सीदोन के सारपत की एक विधवा स्त्री को छोड़ कर, उनमें से किसी के पास नहीं भेजा गया था।Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to the widow of Zarephath in Sidon.

27और एलीशा भविष्यद्वक्ता के समय इस्राएल में बहुत से कोढ़ी थे, परन्तु सीरिया के निवासी नामान को छोड़ कर उनमें से कोई भी शुद्ध नहीं किया गया था।”And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet. Yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”

28और जब उन्होंने ये बातें सुनीं तो जितने लोग आराधनालय में थे वे सब क्रोध से भर गए।On hearing this, all the people in the synagogue were enraged.

29और उठकर, वे उसे नगर के बाहर लेकर गए, और जिस पहाड़ पर उनका नगर बसा हुआ था, वे उसे उसकी चोटी पर ले गए, ताकि उसे वहाँ से फेंक दें।They got up, drove Him out of the town, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw Him over the cliff.

30परन्तु वह, उनके मध्य में से निकलकर, अपने मार्ग पर चला गया।But Jesus passed through the crowd and went on His way.

31और वह कफरनहूम को पहुँचा, जो गलील का एक नगर था, और वह सब्त के दिन उनको शिक्षा दे रहा था।Then He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath He began to teach the people.

32और वे उसकी शिक्षा पर विस्मित थे, क्योंकि उसका वचन अधिकार सहित था।They were astonished at His teaching, because His message had authority.

33और आराधनालय में एक मनुष्य था, जिसमें एक अशुद्ध दुष्ट का आत्मा था, और वह ऊँचे स्वर से चिल्ला उठा,In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon. He cried out in a loud voice,

34“आह! हे नासरत के यीशु, हमारा और तेरा आपस में क्या लेना- देना? क्या तू हमें नाश करने आया है? मैं तुझे जानता हूँ कि तू कौन है— तू परमेश्वर का पवित्र जन है!”“Ha! What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

35और यीशु ने उसे यह कहकर फटकार दिया,“चुप हो जा, और उसमें से निकल जा!” और उस दुष्ट ने उसे उनके बीच में पटक दिया और उसे बिना हानि पहुँचाए उसमें से निकल गया।But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!” At this, the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without harming him.

36और हर एक जन विस्मित हो गया, और वे एक दूसरे से यह कहकर बातें करने लगे,“यह कैसा वचन है, कि वह अधिकार और सामर्थ्य के साथ अशुद्ध आत्माओं को आदेश देता है, और वे निकल जाती हैं?”All the people were overcome with amazement and asked one another, “What is this message? With authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

37और चारों ओर के प्रदेश के हर एक भाग में उसके विषय में समाचार फैल गया।And the news about Jesus spread throughout the surrounding region.

38तब वह आराधनालय में से उठकर शमौन के घर में गया। और शमौन की सास तेज बुखार से पीड़ित थी, और उन्होंने उसके लिये उससे विनती की।After Jesus had left the synagogue, He went to the home of Simon, whose mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever. So they appealed to Jesus on her behalf,

39और उसके निकट खड़े होकर, उसने बुखार को डाँटा और वह उस पर से उतर गया, और तुरन्त ही वह उठ खड़ी हुई और उनकी सेवा करना आरम्भ कर दिया।and He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and began to serve them.

40और जब सूर्य डूब रहा था, तो जिन लोगों के पास विभिन्न प्रकार की बीमारियों में पड़े हुए व्यक्ति थे, वे सब उन्हें उसके पास ले आए और, उनमें से हर एक पर अपने हाथों को रखकर, वह उन्हें चंगा कर रहा था।At sunset, all who were ill with various diseases were brought to Jesus, and laying His hands on each one, He healed them.

41और बहुतों में से दुष्टात्माएँ भी चिल्लाते हुए, और यह कहते हुए निकल रहे थे,“तू परमेश्वर का पुत्र है!” परन्तु वह उन्हें फटकार रहा था, और बोलने नहीं दे रहा था, क्योंकि वे जानते थे कि वह मसीह था।Demons also came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But He rebuked the demons and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Christ.

42और जब दिन निकला, तो अलग होकर, वह एक एकांत स्थान में गया, परन्तु भीड़ उसे ढूँढ़ती हुई उसके पास आई, और वे उसे रोकने लगे कि हमारे पास से न जा।At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place, and the crowds were looking for Him. They came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving.

43परन्तु उसने उनसे कहा,“मुझे अन्य नगरों में भी अवश्य ही परमेश्वर के राज्य के विषय में घोषणा करनी है, क्योंकि इसी के लिए मुझे भेजा गया था।”But Jesus told them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well, because that is why I was sent.”

44और वह यहूदिया के आराधनालयों में प्रचार कर रहा था।And He continued to preach in the synagogues of Judea.
