1 HGLT तो फिर हम क्या कहें कि हमारे पूर्वज अब्राहम ने, शरीर के अनुसार किसकी खोज की? BSB BSB: What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has discovered?
2 HGLT क्योंकि यदि अब्राहम को कामों के द्वारा धर्मी ठहराया जाता, तो उसे घमण्ड होता, परन्तु परमेश्वर के सामने नहीं। BSB BSB: If Abraham was indeed justified by works, he had something to boast about, but not before God.
4 HGLT अब काम करने वाले की मजदूरी अनुग्रह के अनुसार नहीं, परन्तु दायित्व के अनुसार गिनी जाती है। BSB BSB: Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation.
5 HGLT अब जो काम नहीं करता, परन्तु भक्तिहीन को धर्मी ठहराने वाले पर विश्वास करता है, तो उसका विश्वास धार्मिकता के रूप में गिना जाता है। BSB BSB: However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.
6 HGLT यहाँ तक कि दाऊद भी उस मनुष्य की धन्यता{ की} बात करता है, जिसे परमेश्वर कामों से अलग धार्मिकता का श्रेय देता है: BSB BSB: And David speaks likewise of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 HGLT “धन्य{ हैं वे} जिनके अधर्म के काम क्षमा किए गए, और जिनके पाप ढाँपे गए। BSB BSB: “Blessed are they whose lawless acts are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
8 HGLT धन्य{ है} वह मनुष्य जिसके पापों को प्रभु निश्चित रूप से न गिने।” BSB BSB: Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”
9 HGLT तो फिर{ क्या} यह धन्यता खतनावालों पर ही आती है, या खतनारहितों पर भी आती है? क्योंकि हम कहते हैं कि,“अब्राहम के लिये उसका विश्वास धार्मिकता के रूप में गिना गया।” BSB BSB: Is this blessing only on the circumcised, or also on the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness.
10 HGLT तो फिर यह कैसे गिना गया? खतने की दशा में, या खतनारहित दशा में?{ यह} खतने की दशा में नहीं, परन्तु खतनारहित दशा में था। BSB BSB: In what context was it credited? Was it after his circumcision, or before? It was not after, but before.
11 HGLT और उसने खतने का चिन्ह पाया, कि उस विश्वास की धार्मिकता पर छाप हो जो{ उसने} अपनी खतनारहित दशा में किया था कि वह उन सब का पिता ठहरे जो खतनारहित दशा के माध्यम से विश्वास करते हैं, कि उनके लिये धार्मिकता गिनी जाए; BSB BSB: And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
12 HGLT और उन खतनावालों का पिता हो जाए जो न केवल खतनावालों में से{ हैं}, परन्तु उनका भी जो खतनारहित दशा में हमारे पिता अब्राहम के विश्वास के पदचिन्हों का अनुसरण करते हैं। BSB BSB: And he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
13 HGLT क्योंकि जो प्रतिज्ञा अब्राहम या उसके वंश को दी गई थी कि वह जगत का वारिस होगा, व्यवस्था के माध्यम से नहीं, परन्तु विश्वास की धार्मिकता के माध्यम से दी गई{ थी}। BSB BSB: For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world was not given through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
14 HGLT क्योंकि यदि वारिस व्यवस्था से{ हैं}, तो विश्वास खाली हो गया और प्रतिज्ञा व्यर्थ हो गई। BSB BSB: For if those who live by the law are heirs, faith is useless and the promise is worthless,
15 HGLT क्योंकि व्यवस्था क्रोध उत्पन्न करती है, परन्तु जहाँ व्यवस्था नहीं,{ वहाँ पर} अपराध भी नहीं। BSB BSB: because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.
16 HGLT इसी कारण{ यह} विश्वास के द्वारा है, ताकि{ यह} अनुग्रह के अनुसार हो, जिससे कि यह प्रतिज्ञा सम्पूर्ण वंश के लिये निश्चित हो— केवल उसके लिये नहीं जो व्यवस्था से है, परन्तु उसके लिये भी जो अब्राहम के विश्वास से हैं, जो हम सब का पिता है, BSB BSB: Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
17 HGLT जैसे कि यह लिखा है,“मैंने तुझे बहुत से राष्ट्रों का पिता नियुक्त किया है,” उस परमेश्वर की उपस्थिति में जिस पर उसने भरोसा किया, जो मरे हुओं को जिलाता है और जो वस्तुएँ अस्तित्व में ही नहीं हैं, उनको ऐसे पुकारता है कि जैसे वे अस्तित्व में हैं; BSB BSB: As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the presence of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist.
18 HGLT जिसने आशा के विरुद्ध आशा के आधार पर विश्वास किया ताकि जो कहा गया{ था} उसके अनुसार वह बहुत से राष्ट्रों का पिता हो जाए कि,“तेरा वंश ऐसा ही होगा।” BSB BSB: Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.”
19 HGLT और वह अपने शरीर को पहले से ही मरा हुआ मानकर(लगभग सौ वर्ष की आयु का होकर)— और सारा के गर्भ की मरी हुई अवस्था से विश्वास में निर्बल न हुआ। BSB BSB: Without weakening in his faith, he acknowledged the decrepitness of his body (since he was about a hundred years old) and the lifelessness of Sarah’s womb.
20 HGLT परन्तु परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा के प्रति वह अविश्वास में डगमगाया नहीं, परन्तु परमेश्वर को महिमा देकर, विश्वास में दृढ़ हुआ, BSB BSB: Yet he did not waver through disbelief in the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 HGLT और पूरी रीति से आश्वस्त हुआ कि जिस बात की उसने प्रतिज्ञा की है, उसे पूरा करने में वह सक्षम भी है। BSB BSB: being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised.
22 HGLT और इसलिए,“यह उसके लिये धार्मिकता के रूप में गिना गया।” BSB BSB: This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
23 HGLT अब यह केवल उसके लिये नहीं लिखा गया था,“यह उसके लिये श्रेय दिया गया था,” BSB BSB: Now the words “it was credited to him” were written not only for Abraham,
24 HGLT परन्तु हमारे लिये भी, जिनके लिये यह गिना जाने वाला है, और उनके लिये जो उस पर विश्वास करते हैं जिसने यीशु हमारे प्रभु को मरे हुओं में से जिलाया, BSB BSB: but also for us, to whom righteousness will be credited—for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
25 HGLT जो हमारे अपराधों के लिये छोड़ दिया गया और हमारे धर्मी ठहराए जाने के लिये जिलाया गया। BSB BSB: He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification.
