2 IEV मैं यहोवा तुम्हारा परमेश्वर हूँ, जिनकी आराधना तुम करते हो। मैं ही तुम्हें मिस्र देश से बाहर लाया और मैंने ही तुम्हें उनके दासत्व से मुक्ति दिलाई है। BSB BSB: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
4 IEV तुम किसी भी प्रकार की मूर्ति बना कर उसकी पूजा नहीं करोगे, चाहे वह आकाश या पृथ्वी या जल में किसी का रूप हो। BSB BSB: You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath.
5 IEV तुम किसी भी मूर्ति के सामने न झुकना और न ही उसकी पूजा करना क्योंकि मैं यहोवा हूँ और मैं इसे सहन नहीं करता हूँ। जो पाप करते हैं और मुझसे घृणा करते हैं उन्हें मैं दण्ड दूँगा और उन्हें ही नहीं, उनकी तीसरी और चौथी पीढ़ी को भी दण्ड दूँगा। BSB BSB: You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 IEV परन्तु, मुझसे प्रेम करने वालों और मेरी आज्ञा का पालन करने वालों की हजारों पीढ़ियों तक मैं उनसे प्रेम करता रहूँगा। BSB BSB: but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7 IEV मेरा नाम व्यर्थ में मत लेना क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ जिसकी तुम्हें आराधना करनी है। यदि कोई व्यक्ति मेरे नाम का उपयोग गलत ढंग से करता है तो उसे मैं निश्चय ही दण्ड दूँगा। BSB BSB: You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain.
9 IEV सप्ताह में तुम छः दिन अपना कार्य कर सकते हो। BSB BSB: Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 IEV परन्तु सातवाँ दिन विश्रामदिन है, सातवाँ दिन तुम्हारे परमेश्वर यहोवा को समर्पित है, तुम्हें परमेश्वर यहोवा की आराधना करनी है। तुम्हारे पुत्र- पुत्रियाँ, तुम्हारे दास- दासियाँ कोई भी उस दिन कार्य नहीं करें। तुम अपने पशुओं से भी कार्य नहीं लोगे और तुम्हारे बीच निवास करने वाले विदेशी को भी कार्य नहीं करने दोगे। BSB BSB: but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant or livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates.
13 IEV किसी की हत्या न करना। BSB BSB: You shall not murder.
14 IEV किसी के साथ व्यभिचार नहीं करना। BSB BSB: You shall not commit adultery.
15 IEV चोरी नहीं करना। BSB BSB: You shall not steal.
16 IEV किसी पर भी अपराध का झूठा आरोप नहीं लगाना। BSB BSB: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
18 IEV गर्जन सुन कर और बिजली की चमक देख कर और तुरही की ऊँची आवाज सुन कर और पर्वत पर धुएँ को देख कर इस्राएली बहुत डर गए और काँपने लगे। वे पर्वत से दूर खड़े रहे। BSB BSB: When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sounding of the ram’s horn, and the mountain enveloped in smoke, they trembled and stood at a distance.
19 IEV और तब लोगों ने मूसा से कहा,“यदि तू हमसे कुछ कहेगा तो हम सुनेंगे। परन्तु परमेश्वर को हम लोगों से बात न करने दे। यदि ऐसा होगा तो हम लोग मर जाएँगे।” BSB BSB: “Speak to us yourself and we will listen,” they said to Moses. “But do not let God speak to us, or we will die.”
20 IEV मूसा ने उनसे कहा,“मत डरो! परमेश्वर तो तुम्हारे व्यवहार को परखने आए हैं, वे चाहते हैं कि तुम उनका सम्मान करो और पाप न करो। BSB BSB: “Do not be afraid,” Moses replied. “For God has come to test you, so that the fear of Him may be before you, to keep you from sinning.”
21 IEV इस्राएली लोग तो दूर ही खड़े देख रहे थे परन्तु मूसा उस काले बादल के निकट गया जिसमें परमेश्वर उपस्थित थे। BSB BSB: And the people stood at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
22 IEV यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,“इस्राएली लोगों से कह,‘यहोवा ने स्वर्ग से मेरे साथ बातें की हैं और तुमने सुना है। BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses, “This is what you are to tell the Israelites: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven.
23 IEV मैं तुमसे कह चुका हूँ कि तुम सोने या चाँदी की कोई भी मूर्ति बना कर, मेरे स्थान में उसकी पूजा नहीं करोगे। BSB BSB: You are not to make any gods alongside Me; you are not to make for yourselves gods of silver or gold.
24 IEV मेरे लिए मिट्टी की एक वेदी बनाना और उस पर मेरे लिए होम- बलि और मेल- बलि चढ़ाना और अपने भेड़- बकरियों और बैलों को भी चढ़ाना। मैं जहाँ- जहाँ स्थान चुन लूँ कि तुम मेरा सम्मान करो वहाँ- वहाँ मेरी आराधना करना। तुम ऐसा करोगे तो मैं आकर तुम्हें आशीष दूँगा। BSB BSB: You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.
25 IEV यदि तुम मेरे लिए पत्थरों की वेदी बनाओ तो पत्थरों को काटना नहीं क्योंकि पत्थरों को औजारों से कटने पर मैं वेदी को स्वीकार नहीं करूँगा। BSB BSB: Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it.
26 IEV वेदी पर चढ़ने के लिए सीढ़ियाँ नहीं लगाना क्योंकि ऊपर चढ़ते समय तुम्हारे शरीर की नग्नता दिखाई दे सकती है।’” BSB BSB: And you must not go up to My altar on steps, lest your nakedness be exposed on it.’
