Numbers 13 (IEV)

1यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,And the LORD said to Moses,

2“कुछ लोगों को कनान में छान- बीन करने के लिए भेज। यही वह भूमि है जिसे मैं तुम इस्राएलियों को दूँगा। उन लोगों को भेज जो अपने गोत्र में प्रधान हैं।”“Send out for yourself men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”

3तब मूसा ने यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार किया। उसने बारह इस्राएली पुरुषों को भेजा जो अपने- अपने गोत्र के प्रधान थे। उसने उन्हें पारान मरुस्थल में डाली गई अपनी छावनी से भेजा।So at the command of the LORD, Moses sent them out from the Wilderness of Paran. All the men were leaders of the Israelites,

4ये उन पुरुषों और उनके गोत्रों के नाम हैं: रूबेन के गोत्र से जक्कूर का पुत्र शम्मू;and these were their names: From the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;

5शिमोन के गोत्र से होरी का पुत्र शापात;from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;

6यहूदा के गोत्र से यपुन्ने का पुत्र कालेब;from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

7इस्साकार के गोत्र से यूसुफ का पुत्र यिगाल;from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;

8एप्रैम के गोत्र से नून का पुत्र होशे;from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;

9बिन्यामीन के गोत्र से रापू का पुत्र पलती;from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;

10जबूलून के गोत्र से सोदी का पुत्र गद्दीएल;from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;

11यूसुफ के वंशज मनश्शे के गोत्र से सूसी का पुत्र गद्दी;from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;

12दान के गोत्र से गमल्ली के पुत्र अम्मीएल;from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;

13आशेर के गोत्र से मीकाएल का पुत्र सतूर;from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;

14नप्ताली के गोत्र से वोप्सी का पुत्र नहूबी;from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;

15और गाद के गोत्र से माकी के पुत्र गूएल।and from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.

16ये उन लोगों के नाम हैं जिन्हें मूसा ने कनान की छान- बीन करने के लिए भेजा था। उनके जाने से पहले, मूसा ने होशे को एक नया नाम दिया, यहोशू, जिसका अर्थ है‘यहोवा ही बचाने वाले हैं।’These were the names of the men Moses sent to spy out the land; and Moses gave to Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.

18देखो कि भूमि कैसी है। देखो कि वहाँ रहने वाले लोग बलशाली हैं या बलहीन हैं। देखो कि वे बहुत से लोग हैं या केवल कुछ लोग हैं।See what the land is like and whether its people are strong or weak, few or many.

19पता लगाओ कि वे किस प्रकार की भूमि में रहते हैं। क्या वह अच्छी है या बुरी है? उन शहरों के विषय में जानो जहाँ वे रहते हैं। क्या उनके पास दीवारें हैं या नहीं?Is the land where they live good or bad? Are the cities where they dwell open camps or fortifications?

20मिट्टी के विषय में पता लगाओ। क्या मिट्टी उपजाऊ है या नहीं? पता लगाओ कि वहाँ पेड़ हैं या नहीं। यदि वहाँ पर पेड़ हैं तो उस भूमि में उगने वाले कुछ फल वापस लाने का प्रयास करना।” उसने ऐसा इसलिए कहा क्योंकि यह अँगूर की कटनी के समय का आरम्भ था।Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there trees in it or not? Be courageous and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)

21तो वे लोग कनान को गए। वे पूरे देश में गए, दक्षिण में सीन के मरुस्थल से होते हुए, उत्तर में लेबो हमात के पास के रहोब शहर के सभी मार्गों से गए।So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo-hamath.

22दक्षिणी यहूदिया के मरुस्थल में, वे हेब्रोन में गए, जहाँ अहीमन, शेशै, और तल्मै नामक, विशाल लोग रहते थे, जो अनाक के वंशज थे। हेब्रोन एक ऐसा शहर था जो मिस्र के सोअन शहर के निर्माण से सात वर्ष पहले बनाया गया था।They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, dwelled. It had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.

23एक घाटी में, उन्होंने अँगूर के एक गुच्छे को काटा। क्योंकि यह बहुत बड़ा था इसलिए उन्हें उसे एक लाठी पर ले जाने के लिए दो पुरुषों की आवश्यकता थी। उन्होंने कुछ अनार और कुछ अंजीर भी अपनी छावनी में ले जाने के लिए उठाए।When they came to the Valley of Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.

24उन्होंने उस स्थान को एशकोल कहा जिसका अर्थ‘गुच्छा’ है क्योंकि उन्होंने वहाँ अँगूर के उस विशाल गुच्छे को काट दिया था।Because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut there, that place was called the Valley of Eshcol.

25चालीस दिनों तक भूमि की छान- बीन करने के बाद, वे अपनी छावनी में लौट आए।After forty days the men returned from spying out the land,

26वे पारान के मरुस्थल में हारून और मूसा और बाकी इस्राएली लोगों के पास आए। उन्होंने जो कुछ देखा वह सबको बताया। उन्होंने उन्हें वह फल भी दिए जो वे साथ लाए थे।and they went back to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They brought back a report for the whole congregation and showed them the fruit of the land.

27परन्तु उन्होंने मूसा को यह बताया:“हम उस देश में पहुँचे जहाँ तूने हमें छान- बीन करने के लिए भेजा था। वह वास्तव में एक सुन्दर देश है। यह एक बहुत ही उपजाऊ भूमि है। वहाँ के यह कुछ फल हैं।And they gave this account to Moses: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and indeed, it is flowing with milk and honey. Here is some of its fruit!

28परन्तु वहाँ रहने वाले लोग बहुत शक्तिशाली हैं। उनके शहर बड़े हैं और दीवारों से घिरे हुए हैं। हमने वहाँ अनाक के कुछ विशाल वंशज भी देखे।Nevertheless, the people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified. We even saw the descendants of Anak there.

29अमालेक के वंशज देश के दक्षिणी भाग में रहते हैं, और हित्ती, यबूसी और एमोर के वंशज उत्तर में पहाड़ी देश में रहते हैं। कनान के वंशज भूमध्य सागर के तट पर और यरदन नदी के किनारे रहते हैं।”The Amalekites live in the land of the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan.”

30कालेब ने उन लोगों से जो मूसा के पास खड़े थे चुप रहने के लिए कहा। फिर उसने कहा,“हमें वहाँ जाना चाहिए और उस देश पर अधिकार कर लेना चाहिए, क्योंकि हम निश्चय ही इसे जीतने में सक्षम हैं!”Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly conquer it!”

32इस प्रकार उन लोगों ने इस्राएलियों को उस देश के विषय में जिसकी उन्होंने छान- बीन की थी, बुरा समाचार सुनाया। उन्होंने कहा,“जिस देश की हमने छान- बीन की है वह उन लोगों को नष्ट कर देते हैं जो उन पर आक्रमण करने का प्रयास करते हैं। और वहाँ रहने वाले लोग बहुत लम्बे हैं।So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land that they had spied out: “The land we explored devours its inhabitants, and all the people we saw there are great in stature.

33हमने वहाँ विशालकाय लोगों को भी देखा। वे अनाक के वंशज हैं(जो नपीलों से आए हैं।) जब हमने इन विशालकाय लोगों को देखा तो हमें ऐसा लगा कि हम तो उनके सामने टिड्डियों जैसे हैं और उन्होंने सोचा कि हम भी टिड्डियों जैसे हैं।”We even saw the Nephilim there—the descendants of Anak that come from the Nephilim! We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!”
